They restored my faith! I had a horrible experience at another location, so I was reluctant to try again. I ordered my tuna sandwich and it was done just right. The bread soft and lightly toasted, enough tuna to stuff the sandwich and a good amount of pickled onions. My mom was able to order some veggie soup and half sandwich, and she enjoyed her meal as well. The soup was nice and hearty. You can tell the manager takes pride in the store. Zoup is a nice Panera style chain soup cafe. Unfortunately there are not enough around the city. This one is laid out differently but still follows the same pattern. Each day they have a menu of different soups. Some are on a daily basis. The staff is very friendly and willing to explain everything to you. You can sample whatever soups they are offering that day before you make your purchase. You can pair it with either half a sandwich or half a salad and you get a roll to go with it. Drinks are machine style with free refills. What they neglected to tell me but I knew from a previous visit is that they have a rewards card where you get a stamp with each soup you buy. Today's soup for me was clearly French onion. It lacked the cheese but made up for it in the flavor. It was very hearty. I paired it with an Asian chicken salad. Nothing out of the ordinary but descent. Free WiFi is available here. Keep in mind that this is not a bakery cafe so their desserts are extremely limited. They open at 11 am. Zoup makes a nice alternative to a sit down or take out style lunch. This location is in the Fox Chapel strip mall. The one I visited in the summer was in Canonsburg, PA. I also learned today that their 3rd location is now open in Washington, PA. I wish they were closer since they have a nice variety of soups. You can purchase it in different sizes. Prices vary accordingly. Expect to pay in the same vicinity of Panera Bread. Not bad portion sizes for what you pay and you get a nice little hunk of bread. The soup had a good amount of meat in it, which is often lost in a lobster bisque. I just wish the bread was warm because, spreading the little square of butter on it was hard. Sampled the potato soup, yum and the spicy crab which I thought was just okay. I should have written this long ago as we order here regularly for work functions and honestly the experience is A+++ every time. It is a family run affair and the owner (Richard) is the nicest and most customer service driven person I have ever come across. He bends over backward for the customers and his team must also do the same based on the quality of food and service of the establishment as a whole. Richard seems to remember all of his customers as he can talk to them as if he knows them and remembers even small details shared from past conversations. We order multiple sandwiches for each event and in all cases, the sandwiches are scrumptious and as fresh as can be. All of the sandwiches I have experienced have been tasty and mouthwatering and I wish would never end. The "side" salads are bigger than any restaurant salad and honestly, are much fresher. It seems as if they must grow their own ingredients as they are so fresh and tasty. Order the Lobster Bisque as well as it is out of this world as are the chocolate cookies! Came here today because of a coupon I received in my email. "Kids eat free on Halloween" I asked about the coupon upon arrival and was told they would not honor it. Decided to stay anyway. Ordered a try2 with a lobster bisque and a turkey bacon club. Also got my daughter a kids meal. Was told it was a soup and a sandwich. With my drink, my total was $26.....which I thought was extremely high. So I questioned it and then was told by someone else that the kids meal was only one or the other. I was refunded for the mistake because the employee owned it. Get to my table and open my sandwich. You can see by the photo that it wasn't much of a sandwich. 2 slices of prepackaged turkey, one slice of bacon and a bunch of mayo (comes with tomatoes, but I didn't get them). My daughters grilled cheese was $5.80 for what you see in the photo. I don't even know how to describe it. It's like a baguette with what could possibly be one slice of white American cheese. Or it could be shredded cheese....not sure cause they melt it. I'm just so disappointed because I love the soup here. I chose to endure and I was very surprised how quickly the line moved. The staff was very friendly and offered to give us a test of anything thing we wanted.
