Had this for takeout and the food was great and traveled well - was packed nicely and the portions were a nice size.

Pros Food: delicious, close to authentic, waakye is a little dark but delicious! Suya is good. Food is worth trying and for the price. Service: the owner is soooo sweet!! The wait staff are so nice and polite. Ambience : good music! Very clean, not smelly, Instagram worthy Cons: Food : food is pretty good, maybe the only drawback is the waakye being dark? Service: nothing bad to say! Absolutely nothing! Ambiance: it was a tad bit warm in the restaurant. But maybe it's because they had just opened. So yeah!!

If you want a nice full portion and delicious Ghanaian's food. Service was excellent with care and patience and the restaurant is family oriented and the owner is kind and helpful to express the culture behind the food. I will definitely go again.

First of all the staff is super sweet. The atmosphere is very relaxed. They play great music and they have a nice soft lighting. Let's talk about the food. I had their whole snapper. It's literally one of the best snappers I've ever had. It is flavored all the way to the bones. it is big enough for two to share and I highly recommend it. They also have some chicken that is amazing, their shrimpy, shrimp, suya is delicious too! This is a small business that is very family oriented and they seem to put people over profit and I'd love that. If you want to support something small that has some great amazing African flavors I would recommend you try out Zongo.

Visited this restaurant last week but didn't end up trying it as the wait time was 1 hour. Ended up calling in an order tonight, unfortunately this was a huge disappointment.

I canNOT believe what I have been missing!!! I tried the egusi soup with pounded yam and was literally floored by how good it was. I brought some home for my wife and kids and they all loved it. I've been back several times since. Unfortunately I NEVER see anyone in there so I hope they are getting enough service to stick around. I've had their jerk wings as well as their jollif rice and all of it is amazing. The restaurant itself is simple and the staff friendly.

I ordered the egusi soup & okra soup with yam fufu and corn fufu. Very very flavorful! The egusi soup with yam fufu was my favorite. However, when I left the soups sitting out for my partner to try after coming home from work, they both somehow became a bit salty? And he wasn't able to enjoy it like how I did when it was fresh. There's not a lot of African restaurants in Cypress, but this place is definitely worth a try. Still can't get over the texture of fufu! It's so pleasant with the soups.

I can't believe I waited so long to try the GOLDEN BOWL. This is one of the best bites to enter my mouth in a long time. ChopnBlok is nestled away inside of POST Houston. Their menu is quaint, and in fact, the famous Golden Bowl was not visible on the menu. Fortunately, the had a few signature dishes on display - the Golden Bowl was one of them. The Golden Bowl is one of the most complex and well balanced dishes I've ever had. Sweet, salty, smoky, spicy, and soulful, this dish is an explosion for flavors that will have your tongue tingling. The succulent grilled chicken, fluffy jollof jambalaya, stewed plantain and crunchy black eyed peas work together to create an unbelievable mix of textures that keep you excited for the next bite... and the next... and then suddenly it's gone. My only regret was sharing the bowl with my husband. I could probably eat two orders in one sitting. If you haven't had a Golden Bowl, please do your tastebuds a favor and get yourself over to ChopnBlok.

I have not even eaten here yet and I will tell you ALL to STAY FAR FAR AWAY…read more As in... F. A. R. AFTER SPENDING ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL WEEKEND MOVING OUR THINGS, I AND MY HUSBAND AND MY BROTHER AND HIS FIANCEE WERE EXTREMELY HUNGRY AROUND 8 P.M. AFTER NOT EATING ALL DAY. I go on doordash and see this restaurant. Of course, being Nigerian, we wanted good Nigerian food and there aren't many that are offered on doordash nor did we have the strength to make any NAIJA dishes at 8p.m. at night. So, we ordered our food for dishes... Okra soup, vegetable soup, jollof rice and another okra soup. My order was complete and processed around 8:19 pm. We go drive to get some water to pass the time and an hour had exhausted... Well, an hour and like 5 minutes... WHICH they said my order would be ready at 9:19. A lady calls shouting (Yoruba for whispering) asking if I was who I was and then further proceeded to tell me that our order had not been fulfilled yet... I'm looking puzzled like... What EXACTLY does that mean... And after I asked for clarification she has the AUDACITY to tell me that not only has the order not been fulfilled, the order had not even been MADE yet... As innnnnnnnnnm... Not even MADE. THIS IS OVER AN HOUR LATER AND THE ORDER HAD NOT EVEN BEEN STARTED YET. if you think that didn't have audacity written all over it already... They further had the NERVE to ask me to wait an ADDITIONAL 45 minutes to an HOUR for my order. Now come on... if you know what HUNGER does... Then surely you know what being hangry does to somebody. And I'm the POSTER child of HANGER. P I. S. S. E. D. That word does not even describe the HEAT that was coming from my body. BECAUSE OF THE RED THAT WAS SHOWING IN MY EYES... We opted for some pizza... (even though I'm lactose intolerance and really can't have white bread...) Just so I can have SOMETHING in my belly... I will... I repeat and EMPHATICALLY... I will NEVER order from this restaurant EVER again in LIFE and I will LITERALLY advise ANYONE that I know and love to NEVER do so. (IT'S ONLY AAAAAAAFTERWARDS THAT MY HUSBAND TOLD ME HE TRIED TO ORDER FROM THIS PLACE BEFORE AND IT TOOK THEM 2 HOURS AND 45 MINUTES TO FULFILL HIS ORDER... SMH LIFE!) it's a shame.

We went a bit late so I think people were getting off work and it was clear that this place feels like home for everyone because they were coming just to hang out and eat. From the minute I walked in, I knew that the odds would most likely be in my favor. First of all there are two huge portraits of the female proprietess and her husband flanking the cash register, in full Asante regalia. Which totally made me feel like I was in someone's living room looking at their mantle, versus at a restaurant. But it added a touch of culture and a huge sense of pride. There was a older man waiting for food, staring at the big screen tv, DANCING to the music. This is a great sign! Do you know how good this food is about to be, because I do, if it makes Papa DANCE!!! Oh yeah, I was getting excited. There was a fridge stocked FULL TO THE BRIM and spilling over onto the floor of every soda, both American and African, plus several types of beer. To me this read as "yup, you gone be thirsty after this FIYAHHHHHH"! And they weren't wrong! My food came out piping hot, relatively quickly, and paired with warm water for hand washing! Not every African restaurant is this traditional, so I again, knew it was about to go down!!!!! I would get into a lengthy description of the groundnut soup but that would waste more of your time reading, instead of driving, STRAIGHT TO Afrikiko!!! I will say that the side of spinach that I requested was so smooth and tomatoey and robust with flavor, that I was thoroughly surprised. I was expecting just a side of sautéed spinach, maybe a bit of onion or garlic, but that damn spinach was soooooo good I almost licked the bowl. If I could give 10 stars I would! This place will make me drive from Dallas yall! And you should too! Worth every single penny I spent! Thanks Afrikiko!
