Great for the family but rather expensive. Kids almost pay same as an adult. Use your RACV membership card for a free 2nd game, this makes it much better value. read more

I recall going to 'lock ins' there when I was all of about thirteen. The idea was you'd pay a small fee, and you'd be locked in there with unlimited games for a few hours until the early morning. For a geeky boy, this was pretty much heaven. So I hadn't been in there for a few years, but I recently took my young cousins in there to kill some time while shopping was being done by people who like that sort of stuff. It really hasn't changed that much over the years. We all had a good time, although it was kinda expensive. If you've got time to kill when you're at Knox, there are worse places to go.

The second is more about the atmosphere than the game. Strike is the latter. Of course, you're paying a bit of a premium for that atmosphere. It's a fun, vibrant place to punish those funny looking bits of wood at the end of the lanes. And if you want to punish your ears, there's also Karaoke. As I mentioned, it can be a bit on the pricey side, but there are sometimes special deals on offer that make it a much more attractive option for the tight of wallet. For example, there are often school holiday deals that make it cheaper for the under 18s to bowl. There's also a family special where two adults and two kids can get a game up until 6pm for $40, which isn't a bad deal, really. There's also a cocktail bar, and some pool tables, so there's stuff to do if you're not into bowling.

The rink itself is well maintained and safety is always the number one priority here. They offer skating lessons for all abilities and offer classes specialising in speed skating and skating medals. The coolest part about this place is that they offer hockey training - I have never heard of this offered anywhere else near me so this is super cool. They have theme days every day of the week with special session times. Check out the website before you go so that you can see what is on. Insportz Knox is the sporting ground to go to for a variety of sports including volleyball, soccer,…read morenetball and cricket. The courts are multi-purpose so games on them alternate throughout the day. The last time I went there was to be acting cheerleader for a group of friends playing 5-a-side soccer. It cost them $70 a season to play and they absolutely loved it. Inside can get pretty loud as lots of games are played on different courts/fields at once. Personally I don't understand how each played knows which ref is blowing their whistle for a foul or penalty - every whistle was super loud! I was rather a jittery cheerleader as a result. The courts are available for hire at $60 an hour, minimum. This seems pretty pricey to me but then again I'm not out hiring courts every weekend so I really have no idea. There is also a bar available for hire that is sometimes open. Wait staff are available for hire if catering for birthday parties or functions. Insportz doesn't cater for 21st birthday celebrations or high school after parties though. I don't know what high schooler would want to host a party on a soccer field but each to their own.. All in all the place is pretty good. It's popular, it's loud and there is plenty of great athletes to watch.

There is a small sign "a not for profit artspace" above their door. Fortyfive Downstairs rents out their gallery space for artists who want an exhibition. And there are different exhibitions here every four or two weeks. Downstairs in the former textiles factory space there are two spaces for exhibitions and a theatre space. I haven't been to the theatre here yet. I must go sometimes as it has regular burlesque shows. Both the very large gallery space and the second smaller space have white walls, high ceilings and wooden floors. The exhibitions in these spaces will have, most likely, changed by the time that you read this so I won't tell you about the art that I saw. And the quality of the next exhibition depends mostly on the artist exhibiting but the gallery is also selective and exhibitions are generally of a high standard.

Value for money and that full, bloated feeling after enjoying a supreme pizza for another work colleagues farewell lunch at the place where I used to work before deciding to become a freelance writer. And the service was excellent. You feel like your eating out in a garden as you head towards the back of the bar and dining area, and you would be forgiven for thinking that your actually not eating at a pub but rather a high class cafe. Pizza isn't such a good idea when you end up going out ten pin bowling later that afternoon which was a work bonus. My stomach was in pain, and a gym workout immediately after bowling did the trick. I never made it to the bar as the pizza ensured that I only drank water to stay hydrated. Needless to say this establishment is probably a better location for after work drinks on a Friday afternoon/evening, or a hang out spot for a few drinks with friends and to watch the AFL when it is back on our screens in 2012.
