What would happen if a 7 year old ran away from home to be independent? Obviously the demon clowns…read morewould ruin their life until they asked for god's help. This "Hell House" is good old fashioned fun that wraps up with a lesson and a prayer. Certainly not as graphic or high production as some, but I imagine still effective. I appreciated that there was no real life footage in this one or taboo topics (aside from quickly addressing choosing gender). Obviously most people can agree a 7 year old shouldn't be living on their own so not an offensive choice for an outreach program. I wish this were just a little more organized. We had too many in the group so we struggled to comfortably see the scenes. It felt like the narrator character was yelling at us for not knowing where to stand but he also might have been in pain from getting whacked by a door when an actor flung it open at him. I didn't feel especially safe with the proximity of the actors jumping around and swinging their limbs a little too close in the intense strobe lights and a few times shielded my face with my arms for fear of being accidentally hit like the narrator was at the beginning during the rules. Overall if you want to support a local god group, this is a fun event. I drove up from the Los Angeles area and unfortunately none of the Halloween attractions in this area compare to the events we are used to but if you're already in the area looking for something to do this has a very fun small town feeling.

My friends and I visited AV Haunted House October 29th, 2021 and had a pretty good time! As far as…read morehaunted houses go, this is pretty good!! All the scare actors seemed really involved and excited to scare us! Everyone was generally really nice and it's free, so you can't complain about that. The only warning I do give is that we waited for a long time (about 2 hours) so just be aware you'll be stood for a while. This event is run by a church so the plot line did revolve around how everyone is infected with sin which can maybe be triggering if you have religious trauma. Along with this, we were given a small sermon at the end and asked if we would repeat the prayer with the man at the end. Only one person ended up repeating after him and my friends and I came to the conclusion that she wasn't actually in the group with us during the haunt, meaning she was probably planted there in case no one prayed along. Now, that's fine, I don't care. But, she was giving us only the HARSHEST of glares. Religious guilt is very real. The only two other warnings I can think of is that strobe lights are used HEAVILY throughout the maze so if you are epileptic and triggered by flashing lights, skip this one. As the theme this year, everyone is infected by sin therefore God is punishing us-- they showed us a small movie before the maze which included clips of not only natural disasters, but the 9/11 tragedy. Thankfully none of my friend group is triggered by 9/11 imagery but it really caught us off guard. Overall, the maze itself was really great. It was free, people were kind (besides the glaring lady), and the scare actors seemed to be enjoying themselves. Just please be aware of what you're getting into before you do end up going! Stay safe and have a great Halloween!

Inside your greeted by one of the employees notifies you that there's no electronic device devices watches are allowed inside so they do provide lockers Afterwards they have you enter a different location and they offer you bathrooms prior to their escape room. We did the basement. This is the first time we've ever done an escape room so I had no idea what to escape. I don't wanna spoil too much BUT this was absolutely one of the best times I've ever had. The actors were so helpful and so funny. We didn't successfully pass, but we were very close!!!!!!. We had a group of two. When that room holds up to 10. Soooooo we did our best hahhaahaha . It's very interactive at some points, We had to crawl through spaces, walk through trap doors and we did get our hands dirty. We were Using flashlights to get around. It was SUPER interactive. I had a blast!!!! Will definitely come here again!!!!! Do wear comfy clothes. We were sweating!!!! Closed shoes recommended. And always pay attention to small details. Everything is a clueeee!!!!! And most importantly stay positive lol

At that point, I was ready to accept my fate as the least reliable member of my college friend group and just go home in shame. But instead of turning me away, the staff at The Basement heard my my panicked voice on call and said, "It's okay, we got you." Like, who does that?? Absolute saints in flannel and dim lighting. They got me and my group a different time slot with zero judgment and still managed to make the whole experience immersive, creepy, and weirdly fun. The live actor deserves an Oscar. I don't want to spoil anything, but I screamed, fell to the ground of fear--or clumsiness (don't judge me), and maybe trauma-bonded with my friends. Thank you to my college crew for not disowning me, and thank you to The Basement for turning my logistical disaster into one of the best bonding event ever. TL;DR: Came for fear, stayed for emotional redemption. 10/10 would get lost and late again. Well.. not late. Sorry about that

This is not a "haunted house". This is an entire fear inducing experience. I've been to a few of…read morethese haunted houses/experiences and this was hands-down the most involved and fear inciting. If you have a legitimate fear of spiders, claustrophobia, or any significant medical condition, 17th Door is not ideal for you. I didn't read about the experience at all; I just went so I could be surprised by the scares. This was both advantageous and my downfall...Cochino definitely shaved a "17" into the back of my head. That's ok for some jobs; wasn't for mine. But it was fun and easily remedied with a home hair cut :-)! The actors are great, experienced, and did an amazing job of balancing fun, fear, and safety. Only complaint is that we purchsed the VIP tickets and didn't feel a difference from the regular tickets, so wouldn't necessarily recommend the upgrade. I observed the regular line and we only went into the experience, 2 groups ahead of people that started with us. I'm sure this is time dependent--as it gets busier, you may see more of a benefit.

Every square foot of this haunt is frightfully alive. 17 focuses on great actors and inventive non stop scares with dozens and dozens of monsters throughout all 17 rooms. Makeup and special effects are just amazing. This is a haunter's haunt that attracts the best talent around. Expect to be thrilled, scared, shocked and delighted. These monsters ain't shy, so strap in, you are in for a wild ride! Before you visit any other haunted attractions, visit 17th door first. It's in a league of its own. Sure you can tromp around another huge, overpriced, overcrowded, "just ok" theme park haunt with the same worn out mazes and the same bored rubber masked zombies doing the same tired old pop up gags you see every year, or you can do 17 and see the industry's best veteran scare actors who bring the fright night after night. Easy free parking too right in front of the main entrance. Highly recommend.

The house itself is perfectly nestled in what I imagined could be a quiet New England neighborhood. As you approach, you see the silhouettes of gravestones through fog and spooky green and purple lighting. Calliope music and a child's soft voice wafts towards you and you catch movement in the graveyard. Coming closer you see the "child" and you clearly hear her cautioning you. The front yard is used to great advantage as it curves around the house, with such attention to detail, from the skeletons on their eternal carousel ride, complete with the creepy ear worm worthy circus music, the ornaments on the tree, and an actual child (the haunter's daughter) surreally caps the display by meandering around the graves before heading to the tree swing to play in the cemetary. The front porch transports you to an episode out of the Twilight Zone. A cadaverous mother rocks her dead child to sleep under an antique lamp, near a broken TV while an old clock's hands spin out of time in a wash of blue light. There is also a sound activated knive-wielding masked nurse that is offering COVID tests. Which is easily the scariest part of this 2020 Halloween season.
