As it was snowing outside, this was more than welcome! I had the ham quiche, and it was absolutely fantastic!!! They did not skimp on the ham, and a generous serving of cheese made this a very satisfying portion of quiche! The double chocolate mocha was rich, but not over the top. I had never tried that before; it was almost like hot cocoa with how deep and velvety it was! Parking is kind of tricky - when you first see the cafe you want to park in front of it. It's on a corner and street parking is VERY limited. There is parking across the street in the grocery lot, or behind the cafe just a bit. A MASSIVE "Red Flag"on this place, folks!! PLEASE BEWARE of this place, to put it mildly!.....Now able to overcome my seething with frustration & anger to move on with my day. Just to preface, I am NOT the kinda guy who gets on Yelp to whine, moan, criticize, tear down & "hand~wring", BUT there comes the rare time when one's actions ~ enter boss Zola ~ are just SO obscenely wrong that they must be exposed to the world, "bullsh*t called" what it IS, & a verbal "beat down" in justice's name so needed, that one (I.e., ME) is absolutely compelled to speak out! THANK YOU for reading!... These days, my job requires me to work "remotely,", via laptop, & since I am not one to stay within home's "4 walls" to work & I like to get out to work!....Today, I happened to find "Zola's" here on Yelp & the reviews were stellar. I eagerly went, totally unknowing of the "cluster f*ck" (so vain & silly that we have to use *asterisks*~just important now not to alienate anyone from reading on) that awaited me.... I arrived at "Zola's" this morning & it seemed the kind of place I've been looking for: "homey" appearance, nice art work on the walls, even a customer said "HI" to me! "Great!", so I thought, without yet noticing that boss Zola (i.e., shop's namesake) had started staring at me in a skulking & obsessive manner; wasn't until after I returned from the restroom that I honed in on her unsettling behavior. Giving her the benefit of the doubt, I walked up to the counter and cheerfully related to boss Zola how I'd seen the good Yelp reviews on the shop, and that I was happy to be there for the 1st time, & that it was supposed to be a good place to work. Shoulda been reasonable for me to expect a reply along the lines of a "Thank you!", "Glad you are here!", etc...BUT instead she just looked at me with s stone~cold depression & blurted out: "Yes, if you're going to BUY something!" WTF?!!~ I was "floored"/ shocked at her reply, but I "restrained myself" verbally from offering the hardest sarcasm & not telling her "where she could put it" and simply said that of course I would buy something while there, naturally! That's when I realized the reason behind her constant staring at me, which she continued to do even while she was talking to other customers; but, even after I came right back to her & bought a blueberry muffin, the creepy staring continued, like I was some kind of "alien" or something "the cat dragged in" ~ now, mind you, as far as my attire, I was dressed in black pants & shoes, a button~up shirt with a cardigan sweater over it & topped it off with a green sun hat. I wasn't dressed as nice as some folks there, but certainly no worse than anyone there inside! So, WHYYY the stares?? I quickly had the perception that this was a cliquish, "neighborhood" coffee shop in downtown Auburn that, sadly, truly only wants to cater to the cops & civil servants across the street at the police station/ justice building, as well as those "Auburnites" that had been coming in every day for years! Yet, despite my mounting discomfort with boss Zola, I decided to continue cleaning my wall~side table & get my laptop out, with a view to getting some work done, over the course of the morning & early afternoon ~ I truly wished to give boss Zola "a chance" and do my best to enjoy a productive day there, over laptop & coffee! However, just before I unpacked my laptop & STILL the object of continued unwanted staringgg from her, I noticed that my table was clearly unbalanced & too excessively "wobbly" to work comfortably with a laptop; necessarily, I proceeded to place one or 2 coffee "sleeves", that I had with me, underneath one of the table legs to stabilize it sufficiently. Of course, it was necessary to lean the table just a bit to fit the sleeves underneath the leg; then, to my great surprise, once again she blurted out to me (for all to see & hear) to not "bang the table against the wall!" Huhhh?!?! It was as if I was "slamming" the table against the wall, when in fact I made no noise at all & wasn't trying to "obstruct", let alone damage in any way, her painting~filled wall (which I greatly admired! ) ; when I immediately & calmly (while actually "biting my tongue"!, once again) called her attention to what had been the need to put cardboard under her table legs, to stabilize them for me AND anyone else who would sit there, she ignored me & said nothing ~ not any bit of contrition, nor a simple, sincere "Oh, thank you!" At that point, my patience with her simply snapped ~I was furiousss~ & I calmly asked boss Zola for a small bag, for my muffin, and I silently stormed out of "dark~side dame" Zola's despicably rude excuse for a coffee shop!..... PLEASE pass the word on this reality, lest others fall into the same wretched ""Zola's" trap as I & others have. Let us soon see a reformed, kinder, much better, revitalized "Zola's", to come ~ that ALL the South Side can be proud of!! read more

Great little cafe! I like to stop in with the hubby on weekend mornings. The people are always friendly, the coffee is always perfect (and they make art with the foam!!), and they have that chill, eclectic coffee house vibe that is missing from places like Starbucks. The only thing that prevents this from being a 5-star review is the food. I wish they had more protein-based items, especially for morning. The breakfast burrito tasted dry and is really more like a huge breakfast panini. Give me some protein options and I'll happily provide another star!! read more

Now crumple that up and throw it in the dumpster, because everything about this place is wrong. Disorganized, disheveled, with wonky chairs and table, flies roaming around everywhere, and they were baking bacon during the time that gave me an incredible headache and had me leaving, without even being able to last 30 minutes here. The poor service didn't help either. Workers would not stop discussing my order -- which was a simple size change?? It was worth a try, I guess, but definitely not worth the experience. read more

The vegan food options are incredible. Their vegan pumpkin pie is still one of my coveted favorites. However, their coffee is only best when consumed in sugary forms. I'm someone who appreciates quality coffee having been a barista in the past. They carry del arte here and was not a fan of how the coffee was extracted in espresso form. As someone with a dairy allergy, I typically drink Americanos or lattes (with non-dairy milk), so the coffee profile really shines through, and I was not impressed with the coffee I've ordered here on multiple occasions. Wow, hands down one of the best white chocolate mochas I've ever had in my lifetime. So finely crafted almost cried tears (same tears when people eat delicious steak) I only regret 2 Things, not getting a larger size and not coming here sooner (I've lived in Auburn for 9 years.. definitely under a rock since I've never been here). Baristas are on point. It's a semi-spacious cafe where there's plenty of seating but you're still cozy next to someone or another piece of furniture. The owner went to culinary school and spent 15 years in fine dining in New York and it shows in the food and service. After a weekend of lackluster eats in both Seattle and Tacoma, we stopped in on a whim to try and catch a friend in Auburn before leaving town... Instead, missed the friend completely and caught chai fever at Zola's! Would have never set foot inside if it weren't for our barista friend, but we're sure glad we did. Very cute inside, it even has a fireplace and a couch. We ordered the Hashbrown sandwich and a bowl of oatmeal with cranberries and walnuts. The wonderful woman at the counter was so helpful and friendly, and she easily sold us on a 12oz chai latte after many moments of our typical indecision. Bottom Line: THE BEST CHAI LATTE I'VE EVER HAD. A delicious mix of light spice and honey; perfectly sweet, all melt-in-your-mouth magic, expertly foamed and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. It was gone within minutes. Days later and I'm still dreaming about this drink. Food came soon after and was a perfect addition. We left completely satisfied and without any regrets that we'd missed the beautiful Kat as it was her day off. On the drive back to Oregon it was agreed that the best meal we ate all weekend came unexpectedly: Thank you Zola's! read more

Came here to study with a friend and almost all the tables were in use but the few that weren't in use were dirty and had crumbs on them. We cleaned off a table and started studying and the manager kept coming up to us and asking us if we were going to order anything because if not then we had to leave. We told them we were going to order something and they kept staring at us until we did. It looked very messy and dirty behind the counters and their coffee was over priced for what it tastes like. Great find!! Took hubby and little one here on a Sunday morning. There was no one here when we first arrived (we actually thought it was closed) but when we left it was 2/3 full and a line! We had the Chai tea (really good but lukewarm), a morning glory muffin (hubby loved it), oatmeal (inexpensive and good), and a cheese/egg sandwich (really good - they put it in the Panini press). I've been to this cafe a couple times, and it is great! Good coffee, a lot of choices! The last time I went to have coffee here I got a coconut milk latte and it was delicious. A nice smooth coffee flavor. The breakfast sandwich was also very tasty! The ambience inside is adorable, and perfect for an extended visit with your friends. First time here. It is a nice little cafe, the indoor seating is beautiful lots of art to look at, and outdoor seating was very relaxing, overall great ambiance. 6am...ish more like it! Horrible experience this morning, I wanted to surprise my girl with a cup of cocoa so I got to Zola's at 0550, it's walking distance from my house. When I walked up a man and a woman were exiting a truck parked out front, they walked inside of Zola's & as I approached the door the man creepily walked back a ever so slightly locked the door. There was no exchange of words to me as a customer to say, "hey we'll be open soon" or "hey come in out of the cold it'll just be a minute" So I waited outside, the man & woman disappeared in the back until about 0558, then they came back, woman behind counter & the man was standing in front of the bakery part. 0600 came round no door open no lights on, they were just inside as if I didn't exist. I waited til 0603 & had enough, no signs of them opening & no communication. Zola or the owner please change your hours so you don't have customers waiting outside. I for one will never go back & I will tell all my friend, family & coworkers not to go! read more

I love coming here to get some good tea latte's and focus. Or just to get out of the house (being a stay at home mom, I don't get to do that much). They have free wifi, but don't be rude and just steal the wifi, get a beverage or something. I have had the tiramisu roll and their broccoli quiche.. Both have been super yummy. As well as their tea latte's. As for their coffee I've only had a couple times and honestly I wasn't a fan. But I am a coffee snob with multiple roasters training. So it's my fault. Just a big fan of medium roast and I believe they use dark roast, or they were pulling to short of shots oooor their machine needs to be serviced. Not sure but I love my tea latte's more. They're always friendly and I feel welcome every time I step in. One of their barista's whom is a male is very pleasantly sassy. I always enjoy over hearing his banter. I hope one day they are hiring for a shift while my daughter is in school. Maybe one day! Thank you guys for being awesome! Simle they may be, but when done right they're just fantastic. Also, great service from the shop owner herself was awesome, super friendly, fast, and fun. They also have lots of gourmet teas (hot and iced) and a small but high quality beer selection (in the bottle only, unfortunately). The free Wi-Fi and comfortable seating make this about the perfect place to chill with friends, read a book, or get some writing done. If I lived in Auburn I'd be here multiple times a week, I went here twice when I was visiting Washington and I really can't recommend it enough. read more
