Don't go to this Dry Cleaner! After they lost one of my husband's shirts and their interaction with me made me feel threatened, belittled, insulted, ridiculed and frustrated.
Please know that the poor review is not about them losing the shirt, or the resolution. We found the same shirt in a local store (brand: Untuckit) and it was on sale (from $105 to $65). We only asked for the sale price for the refund. They refunded the shirt and paid my husband $72 (including tax). Their interaction with my husband was always so good and respectful.
This review is about the way the way they treated me personally while I was in their shop.
After 3 days of losing the shirt and not hearing from them, I finally went to the store (instead of calling). I spoke with a manager who said that his name was David. He and the person working the desk told me that they found the shirt.
The brought out a blue striped J-Crew shirt. The shirt they lost is a white Untuckit shirt, with contrasting navy-blue placket, collar, and cuff lining. I had sent the photo 3 days prior to avoid any confusion. The fact that they tried to give me a stripped J-Crew shirt (after having the photos of the lost shirt), shows their lack of attention to detail right of the bat.
When I told them that the stripped shirt was not the shirt, the Manager got defensive. He said to me (verbatim): "Let me tell you how this works" as he proceeded to show me the shirt's tag that they placed on the shirt. I told him again, that this shirt was not my husband's shirt. He then said (in a very stern and rude voice) "we tag them when we receive them, so this is your shirt. We don't make mistakes because of this system"!
I told him again, that this shirt is not my husband's shirt as it was stripped and that my husband has never bought a J-Crew shirt. I also told him that the fact that he tagged this stripped shirt as my husband's shirt and the fact that he lost our shirt means that they DO make mistakes. I told him that the stripped shirt was a very nice shirt but that he would have another very unhappy customer if I decided to accept this stripped shirt as mine!
He then got even more defensive and told me that he was going to talk to his manager and let me know 'sometime' what they decide to do. I told him that I was leaving for India the next day and that I needed this problem resolved today. He just said 'well, that is going to be a problem then...". I was getting more and more offended and frustrated.
I got his number and, after insisting on a time, he finally agreed that he would have an answer after 2pm.
When I tried to say something else, the Manager (not a small man), stepped closer to me and said, in not uncertain terms: 'this conversation is over'... and repeated it again, looking straight at me, with really cold eyes.
I felt threatened, insulted and ridiculed. He felt empowered by his size and the fact that another guy there was smiling while making nodding signs at him.
I have never felt so threatened, insulted, disrespected and ridiculed in my life.
There was never an apology nor a recognition that they were in the wrong. Quite the opposite. He was all about confrontation and being in power.
Regardless that they did refund the price of the shirt, my husband and I are all about supporting local business, but we will NEVER go back to this store.
This manager should never have face to face contact with customers. He made me feel scared, unsafe, unappreciated, threatened, ridiculed and belittled. He never tried to apologize nor to recognize that they were in the wrong. This was a horrible experience for me. read more
