Our first project was a complete back and side yard landscape on a new home. We chose David because he is extremely pleasant, had a really good vision for our yard, and was creative as well as technically proficient. We later moved to our current home, which had outdated landscaping, inoperative lighting, and failing hardscape. We chose David to completely redo our front, back and side yards based on our prior experience. He worked with us to choose materials, including new stone siding for the house. All along the way, he problem solved, showed an artist's eye, and kept within the agreed upon budget (we did have some add ons that were of our choosing). We had plans from a landscape architect that David approved upon, softening some straight lines, tweaking some of the planting suggestions, and adding a lighting system that is absolutely beautiful. He also put in creative drainage solutions, including adding a built in sump pump for our pool, with a creative system to connect the pool to the appropriate drainage point (the treated sewage line). Our finished product is a fantasy. People stop at our home on a regular basis to compliment the redo of the landscaping and ask about whom we worked with. We recommend Greens wholeheartedly, and would use them again in an instant.

David accidentally drove his truck over some materials at our property. I believed there was sufficient space to avoid this, but it happened. David discussed the damage with me at that time. Thereafter, not only did he not quote the job, nor respond to requests for a quote, he would not respond to my attempts to resolve the matter of damaged materials. I eventually was able to get him to answer my calls by using a different cell phone, and then he agreed to a reasonable settlement. This was after I had to listened to him complain that "people leave trash around thinking they are going to do something with it." Soon after he reneged his offer and said he was going to charge me for the time it took him to drive out to do the estimate (the estimate I never received) and consulting time. Small claims court is next. Avoid this company. Things may work if you use them, but if there are any issues, he is unethical and unreasonable. Several months have passed, and as I expected, he is not a man of his word, and no payment has arrived.

Every person on the crew was polite, professional, and clearly highly experienced and skillful. Fantastic result and we strongly recommend them. Fred and team started…read moreto follow the landscape designers blueprint on the first side of the house, however, by the time they got to planting the hillside, and the other sides of the house, the blueprint specified prep was not followed and the plants were basically stuck into the existing hard clay and then covered with landscape mulch. Many plants have died. As far as I can tell, Fred did not supervise adequately and did not specify what needed to be done so that the work was done correctly. Although Fred was responsive when I complained, he then had one of the side beds redone when I wasn't home after I specifically asked him to let me know when the work was going to be done so I could supervise it. When I came upon the job as it was being completed he told me that because the bed is close to redwoods (20 feet or so), that the roots grow right back in again so they can't do the blueprint specified prep. Ok, I understand that might be the case in that bed. But then it turns out that all three of the drainage portals in that bed were completely covered with dirt. I'm so frustrated by all of the "nice to your face" but questionable work "behind my back" game that seems to have gone on here. We were prompt with paying when Fred requested....we lived up to our side of the contractual agreement. It's maddening that Green Team did not live up to theirs. Our landscape designer recommended Fred and Green Team. Unfortunately, with the landscape designer being separately contracted from the landscapers, it gives the landscapers a lot of latitude to vary from the plan. A very expensive lesson.

The work included leveling the entire yard, turning a wall behind the pool into a large raised planter, redoing the pool coping, piping and traps, then redoing the yard's drainage and paving the yard and walkway. From the start, Erik and his staff exceeded all expectations. He visited with us to understand our wants and needs then after preparing a very detailed estimate, came back and went through the whole process to let us know what to expect and where we had options to change things on the estimate. His estimate also detailed at what points along the way payments would be due....all very clear. All Erik's teams (the fence guys, pool, stone and tile work, and pavers) were all hard working, put in a full day's work, and were very respectful, polite, and friendly! Erik did a fantastic job of coordinating the different teams to come in to get their part of the job done, in spite of having to put up with rainy and cold weather throughout the project. We were very impressed with all the workers who contributed to get the backyard done. Lastly, when all the hardscape was done, Erik met us at a nursery where, given his in-depth knowledge of horticulture, he suggested plants that perfectly met all our wishes for the look and upkeep of the backyard. The result is a backyard that we are in love with! Thank you, Erik and Las Palmas staff!
