I have mixed feelings about this place. Short answer: it's OVER hyped. It definitely deserves some hype... they do a lot of things right. But there are glaring areas for improvement. What they do right: Raspberry shake Fries Sauce options Chicken What needs desperate attention: The sloppy factor for their burgers/sandwiches. The price vs. value We got the double cheeseburger with pastrami. The flavor was way too salty and holy shit was it soggy. I picked it up and took the first bite and the layers immediately slid out the back with tons of juice just oozing out. I couldn't put it down let alone pick it up again for a second bite without it just gushing sauce and grease and tomato. Luckily I have little kids so I had wet wipes handy. No amount of napkins would have kept that mess at bay. My husband got the sticky chicken sandwich. And that one was quite delicious with perfect flavor (it's basically wingers sticky finger sauce. So if that's what you anticipate when you order it, you'll be very happy.) but again, upon the first bite it was literally just juices everywhere. I am not exaggerating by saying that the bottom of the little carstock boat they serve it in was totally covered in juice only 2 bites in. It was a ticking time bomb before the buns, which were actually very tasty and a great texture and structure, were just... soggy. Finally the price. We got the burger, the sandwich, and 3 kids meals, and one large shake. $65. The entrees to me feel for like they are worth 7-10 bucks... not 10-15. The kids meals were $7. Should have been like $4.99. Also their board menu prices did not match their QR code online menu. That's annoying and sloppy to me. All in all, this was a great place, but not one I would prioritize while in the area from out of town. I'd be happy to try somewhere new next time. I don't have any loyalty to them for a burger and fries. That isn't a hard menu to get absolutely perfect. The atmosphere was fun and the outdoor decor is super cute and playful. They had a TON of seating, both covered and uncovered. They also have a handful of lawn games free to use and that is a super cute touch. Very family and dog friendly. We decided to stop in for something to eat. We walked up to the counter, and there were a couple of people standing around and we decided on our order and then proceeded to attempt to order only to be told we aren't taking orders right now, our staff left for the parade. We thought that was very nice to pause for a moment to let your staff go and enjoy a fun activity that was right outside of the restaurant. They were back within a few minutes and they began taking orders. We didn't mind the short wait and we appreciated that the owners knew it was important to give their staff a little break. They have restrooms available for patrons, that are clean and tidy. Parking is in the back and along the street to the north, but nothing is available in the front so be aware of that. Handicap parking is in the back. They have a typical shake shack style menu and a few fun things, including Dole whip, the Disneyland style. They have a classic Bear Lake raspberry shake. You can get fish, burgers, chicken, and even corn dogs. Entrée items are sold separate from things like fries, tater tots, and onion rings. They also have sweet potato fries. We decided to each order a different side so that we could all try each other's. The fries, sweet potato fries and the onion rings are fantastic. Those are what we ordered. You can sit inside of a boat, at a traditional table with chairs, on a bench with a fun wooden hand, carved table, underneath a umbrella and a round table. There are pretty much plenty of options for receiving. They have what they call a sauce bar, which is a collection of different types of sauces for your sides. It's fun to choose a few different ones and taste them all with your sides. We had the Bear Lake Muenster burger, the cheeseburger, a corn dog, and the honey chipotle chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich and the corndog were great. The Muenster burger was pretty good, but the cheeseburger was nothing to write home about - it was undercooked and they used American cheese instead of cheddar cheese, which isn't my favorite and made it a lot more bland. It had hardly any sauce on it And there was only one tomato on. It was a very large sandwich but not a lot of flavor. The buns they use are fantastic but know that they are a softer bun so if you don't like a soft bun you may not like their sandwich, so just get it without a bun and eat it with a fork and knife Items can be made gluten-free, it didn't appear they had anything in term of vegan options other than the sides, but I'm sure they would make something custom. When they took our order, they were extremely friendly and they were very fast when it came to our food getting to us. There is a place to play games in the back that includes cornhole, a giant connect 4 game, and just enjoying the music. The music wasn't something we could hear very well, but it would've been fun to hear it because it seemed to be a good mix. Unfortunately, mostly what we heard the entire time we were there were orders being called over a loudspeaker. So if you don't want to hear the loudspeaker don't sit under the covered area. We passed the long line at Zips a few times wondering what we were missing, and finally decided to try it. The restaurant has a good layout with lots of seating and yard games, and they call your order over an intercom so you can hear in the crowd. They have good fry sauce but the rest of the food is very mediocre. Our fries were barely salted, and salt isn't offered among the sizable seasoning & sauce bar! A few years later and we still love Zipz! You can't go wrong with ordering their cheeseburger and a side of fries. They are both cooked to perfection. My husband usually loves their banana cream pie shake, but they made it differently this time and he was left disappointed. My daughter was really looking forward to the fried Oreos, but it looks like they removed those from the menu. They also ran out of their famous Zipz sauce (it was 11:00am when we went). The food at Zipz is amazing. Being a local place in the little town of Garden City, you never know what kind of quality food, service or ambience you're going to get. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. You think it'll be fast food/diner food quality but it's not. It's quality restaurant food, with amazing flavors and innovation that will keep you coming back for more. After waiting two hours in the drive through the last weekend they were open for the season, our entire SUV filled with people were more than happy that we waited once we got our food. The Bear Lake Muenster burger is incredible. Pure genius, flavor explosion that embodies the essence of Bear Lake. The Philly Cheesesteak was the best any of us has ever had, we got an extra one that they through in for us and we were all passing it around enjoying every last bite. The fries are delicious, the sweet potatoe fries are also delicious. The fried ravioli was a huge hit, and had us thinking about it for the next few days. The hand dipped corn dogs are also top notch, and they have drinkin' ranch. Being from the midwest, the entire family is full of ranch aficionados and their ranch has our stamp of approval. I have been going to Zipz for years. I have personally recommended it to many people over the years due to great service, excellent food and reasonable prices. WHAT HAPPENED??!!? Today we went through the drive through. We were in line for 1hour and 37 minutes with ONLY 10 cars in front of us. NO exaggeration. Then when we got our food for 3 people. 3 orders of chicken tenders, order of onion rings, an order of tots and 3 small shakes came to $70. SERIOUSLY? Now the really disappointing part .... The shakes were not the usual thick shakes, the onion rings and tots were so greasy they were inedible. For the chicken soooooo over cooked they were dry. Well dry and greasy. So disappointed as Zipz has been my favorite place in Utah. After today I am not in any hurry to go back. Yeah sure they could have had a bad day. But every aspect of the experience was the worst I have experienced at any restaurant for years. Hope they can get things like they used to be. ... thick shakes, great sides and best chicken tenders in Utah. And all with great service and a reasonable price. The best addition to Garden City's food scene by far! I remembered when this location was a rundown old house. The original structure was built in 1925 and finally in 2014, Zipz was born--and we're so glad it was! I love that they own the fact that they're not the oldest shake in town, hence the "Least Famous Shake" motto. But that's okay because their shakes are great and the quality of food amazes me. Bear Lake has needed a joint like this and they finally have one. Burgers, fries, fish n' chips, chicken sandwiches, hand dipped corn dogs and more! Their fries are battered (can come GF) and make the absolute perfect crispy compliment to my ice cream. The shakes were on the milkier side, but still tasty. I wished my raspberry shake was a little stronger on the raspberry, but I really liked their cookie dough chocolate chip shake, because the chips were pulverized flecks. Very delightful! When you first get in line it may look intimidating. However we were almost in line with the LaBeau's pick up window and it was about 25 minutes in line. There are backyard games like Jenna and corn hole amongst plenty of seating. Our order came out very fast with shakes arriving first. I do get tired of the over-touted "Famous Bear Lake Raspberry Shake," and I've enjoyed their raspberry Dole Whip option in the past as an alternative. Zipz is our favorite place to eat when at Bear Lake. Nothing on the menu is a bad choice! I recommend the chicken nuggets, the corn dog, or the cheeseburger. They marinate their chicken for 48 hours before they batter and fry it. The fries are beer battered, the tater tots are crispy, and the sweet potato fries are delicious. I always order a raspberry Oreo shake! Super tasty! They don't charge for extra toppings, so go crazy. On any given weekend in the summer there could be a line around the block, but they will still get you your order in 15 minutes. Kind of amazing. On our last visit, the owners daughter came out and talked to us and asked us for any suggestions. Everything you see in the dining area has been custom built by the owner.
