    Plenty of parking.

Was wanting to stop in and try the food here. Parking was great with a ton of space to park. When we went in we noticed there like 6 people waiting outside. Once we got in there were people standing everywhere. The places to sit was very small for actual eating of food. We had to navigate through people to even get to the counter. Once we got to the counter, there was nobody there. We waited like 5 minutes at the counter and walked out. Went down the street to the pizza place and a good meal with no wait. While the food here may be good, the customer service and money invested for seating make this difficult unless you have to wait. If they have this much business coming in it may be time to think about expanding.

Love the carpet on the walls!

My Dad and I were taking a scenic route from San Francisco to Custer, South Dakota via Idaho when Dad suddenly exclaimed, "I'M HUNGRY!" Neither one of us had any love for franchised, mass-produced fast food, so we set about finding a local place to eat in the tiny town of Montpelier, Idaho. Y'know what? There's really not much of a selection. One place at one end of Washington Street and Dan's Drive In at the other end. At first, I thought Dan's was closed, but Dad did some reconnaissance and found out it was open. I grew up on places like this. Small, locally owned, greasy burger places, so I knew what to expect. The inside of the place is really old fashioned with crazy 1970's carpet on the walls, wood paneling, and old tables. It took me back to being a 7 year old kid in Kingsville, Texas. Dad ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and some sort of British pub fries. When the friendly guy behind the counter discovered we were out-of-towners, he gave us a free order of fries so that we could try two regional sauces which aren't available anywhere else. Dad thought his grilled cheese was just ok and the British pub fries were perfectly square tater tots that tasted like they may have been double-fried. I thought the free fries were excellent not because they were free, but due to the fact that they were fresh cut from actual potatoes (there are bags behind the counter)! The two special sauces were pink (basically a slightly spicier Thousand Island) and white (mayo vinegar-y Ranch taste) and were ok. Nothing to write home about. So yeah, the food isn't amazing, but it's good. The people running the place are incredibly nice and chatty and really made us feel welcome. If you're passing through town, give Dan's a shot!

It was one of the best restaurants I've ever been to and I'm from Alaska so we didn't have very many choices so this really deserves a A+

The food is good, but the view is what keeps me coming back. I'd give the view a 5, the food a 4,…read moreand the service a 2. This was my second visit, and unfortunately it was almost identical to the first. The welcome was not very friendly, and our waitress walked by the table several times before finally speaking to us. After that, she never really came back to check on us, ask whether we needed anything, or see how the food was. The next thing we knew, she was dropping off the bill. We ordered two appetizers, but only one was brought out. I also clearly mentioned that I have a food allergy, and she said she would let the kitchen know. Even so, the appetizer arrived with the ingredient I'm allergic to, and nothing was said about it. On top of that, the salad came with the wrong dressing. That said, the seared ahi tasted fresh, and the greens with salmon really hit the spot. The food itself was enjoyable, which makes the service issues even more disappointing. It is hard to overlook a missed appetizer, the wrong dressing, and especially the mishandling of a food allergy. This place has a lot of potential, but the service definitely needs work.

The salmon Benedict was super light on the salmon (like 2 thin strips per each piece, actually pretty disappointing for the price.) Chicken in the waffle and the biscuit dish were fried chicken breast (not sponge meat) and hot and juicy. Stuffed French toast was good as well. Overall, not a bad experience given the lake views in the background. Oh, if you park your car in the parking lot out front, BEWARE, a golf ball could hit and shatter your driver side window...like ours got hit. Happy Vacationing

From the ambiance, to the service, and of course the food - this place has perfected its craft. We really enjoyed our breakfast and coffee and realized we should have exclusively eaten at the Campfire Grill for the entirety of our stay. I take good pics so pics make the food look better than it was. Also, the food took forever to come out! They are slow here. Came with a party of 6. For our appetizers we ordered blue cheese waffle fries, just okay, and the Bavarian pretzel, which was great. For the mains; Pan seared trout, just okay, sides are small Pan seared chicken, this dish was actually delicious, great flavor and broth. Braised pork bolognese- not very good, meat was fatty Classic burger was probably the best item ordered, it's a really great burger, the two patties were big and great flavor, cooked perfectly. Get this if you come. Market fish was salmon, and it was good, but nothing to remember. The desserts were not good. Seemed cheaply made. Like cheesecake was store bought, and the cookie skillet tasted like premade cookie dough from store. Go get a shake somewhere else for dessert.

A really cool and novel breakfast/lunch spot that creatively uses their space on an old school bus…read more Friendly owners, good food. I thought the breakfast burrito was great except it was a little heavy on the potatoes and could have been balanced better with more eggs and less potato. Also their red salsa that was supposed to be the hot one needs a lot more heat, it almost wasn't there at all, but perhaps it's just par for the area. But the real shining star dish from here is the quesabirrias with complimentary consomé, but I think they call it cheesy beef tacos or something like that. Breakfast is only served until 10am, but they do the breakfast burritos until closing at 2pm. Dont skip this great spot!

Such a fun little bus full of food! The owners are very kind and personable and awesome chefs too…read more The food here is tasty and reasonably priced too, which always makes my experience "that much better". I went with a group of family and friends and got to try a bite or two of various items on the menu. The biscuits and gravy had a nice flavor, it was hard to find the them underneath the heaping of gravy that covers the plate, but having too much food shouldn't be a bad thing. The pancakes were delightful and delicious and huge! I got to try the CrossFit Burrito and boy oh boy that was a winner. It was large and in charge, perfect to cut in half and share--and the homemade salsa topped it off perfectly. I also got a bite of Monte Cristo, not my favorite and it was the most expensive item, but it was alright to try. The bus has a fun atmosphere but it's a little squishy--they do have outdoor seating, but that's no fun when it's pouring rain. Overall, fun and fabulous! I recommend making a pit stop here when you can. TIPS & TRICKS: * Bring your appetite or just share! Again, plenty of food and you'll definitely have leftovers. * You can take your meal to go if you don't have time to have an easy, slow breakfast morning.
