Ok! I read the reviews for this place and saw some bad ones. I always try a place before following reviews. It seems there are some food snobs out there that like to leave bad reviews if their expectations are not met. I hate to break it to some people, but most restaurants are run by people. People are not perfect. Get over it. Expectations if set too high are like fragile snowflakes. Any amount of external force applied will shatter them. This is a fast food joint met to fulfill the craving and need for a good burger, fries, corn dog, etc. The prices are perfect for the sustenance offered! I went to order, lady was rude over the intercom about being closed (Google said the location was open until 10 pm, not 9 pm), AND they had 2 Pomeranian-looking dogs running around, unleashed, in the back of the location visible through the glass back door. Zips has been a staple in the Inland Northwest for years. Regardless of the slow drive-thru times and sloppy burgers, they're still around. After living in this area for 38 years, tonight's visit to Zips will be my last. My wife and I went through the drive through and ordered two large-sized grilled chicken meals. The total came to $23+, and though I was stupid enough to pay before questioning the high cost, I brought it up to the second window attendant. The receipt made no sense, and I asked him to explain how it could be so much. His explanation made no sense, and the total should've been like $19 plus tax, but it ended up being $23. Ok, so we're talking a few bucks. But mixed with the incredibly Zips trademarked slow wait time (10m just at the second window), the fact that the food looked sloppy, and the "large" fries we paid for ended up being a regular sized fries, $23 is ridiculous. Zips' food is not good enough to spend that much. We could've easily gone to Red Robin for the same price and had much better food! read more

The food is usually always good. My complaint is the kids working the drive thru not listening. Every week or so I come through for a couple of 3 piece chicken and fries. At the speaker I ask for 2 bbq sauces and 1 tater per order. Pretty simple I thought. Every time I drive up to pay it turns into 4 tarter and nothing else or 1 bbq and 2 tarter. Today it translated to 4 tater and 4 fry sauce. I even mentioned this to her and she said she fixed it. They bring my Oder with 4 tarter and 4 fry sauce. They have crosscut French fries that come with fry sauce Spokane-style (tartar sauce + mustard + ketchup) that will have you twitching in ecstasy the first time you try it. Damn, so it was about near 1 o' clock in the morning and I was all ready for bed until my boyfriend's brother-in-law informed us for his intense burger craving, "Lets have some zip's!". Zip's is a regular request from my 4 year old son when we go out to eat, but he knows it as "Zippy-doo-da's" :) I like Zip's. I wasn't familiar with the restaurant until I moved to Spokane early last year. I have tried several different burgers here and have enjoyed them all. It's a fantastic place to eat if you want to fill yourself up for a decent price. I am a huge fan of the fact that they have pumps full of tartar and fry sauce at the counter. Definitely not 5-star dining, but the food is good, filling and the service is friendly. Worthy of being a "go-to" spot when I can't decide what I want to eat. read more
