I have been a loyal customer of this store for the past 5 years and have never had any issues until…read morenow. However, last Friday, Aug 14, 2026, at around 6:47 PM, I was refused service for no reason at all by a female employee who claimed to be a manager. I asked her to show me some fresh products, and she brought out three items. Since none of them had expiration dates marked on them, I asked if she could show me others. She visibly showed her frustration and practically threw two items onto the counter. I pointed out the date on one of the products to show her what kind of freshness I was looking for. Right after I said that, she pulled all the items away and told me she was refusing to serve me. When I asked why, she completely ignored me. I was deeply upset and felt utterly humiliated, but I had to leave because there were other customers watching. The following day, I returned to the store and handed a letter to Russell, the manager, explaining what happened the previous evening and requesting an explanation for the refusal of service. After a few days with no response, I reached out to Russell again, only to be told that no further information could be provided due to "security reasons." I understand that private businesses do not have a general legal obligation to explicitly state their reasons for refusing service on the spot, and I am also aware of my rights as a customer. However, there must be a legitimate, valid reason to refuse service to a customer. Looking through your store's reviews because of this incident, I noticed that another customer recently mentioned a female employee threatening them with a refusal of service as well. The principle of "the right to refuse service" was created to protect businesses and their staff from unreasonable or abusive situations--not to be weaponized at an employee's personal whim. If this employee is turning customers away for no reason, and the owner simply stands by and lets it happen, this business will inevitably face the consequences. Attitude is a skill. No skill, No job

All of the major locals are presented, as well as many of the startups and up and comers who offer some of the best value in the area. I know other dispensaries like to take shots at Zips, accusing them of selling under cost to cut other retailers, which seems to be unfounded. The prices on established brands are on par with other area dispensaries, including sales. It's just that Zips will also offer the aforementioned "second tier" and upstarts, at entry level prices, other dispensaries don't even carry. I'm sure the option is there if others want to cater to both upscale and downmarket, but most choose to stay high end. That said, their competitors choose to be pricier and spew fake news about Zips for stocking otherwise. Friendly staff, great selection and great prices.

It is profoundly disappointing to see such a prime location squandered by a staff that treats a…read moreretail floor like a Police Interrogation Room. Customers seeking peace and a respectful, private experience are instead met with invasive, boundary-crossing questions. When I explicitly refused to disclose my personal plans to an associate ringing me up, they used my shutdown of "no plans" as an invitation to press harder--behavior directly enabled by a manager who dismissed my concerns via email as nothing more than the staff's "many communication styles." It is insulting to be told by this store's manager that I should have to police their employees' behavior by announcing when I am "not in the mood for conversation" just to be left alone. When I pushed back on this toxic excuse, management simply ghosted me, proving they have no interest in professional standards. I am not here to train your staff on basic social decency, nor should any customer have to sacrifice their dignity just to make a purchase. I will be happily driving an extra five minutes to a store with class that respects its patrons; if you value your peace, dignity and privacy, I suggest you do the same. (BTW, The store at this address is called Local Roots when currently searching "cannabis" on Google locally, with signage on the building that reflects it's the current name)
