I want to give a huge shoutout to Jordon and Violet at the Las Vegas Zippy's. After having a couple of recent takeout orders with some food quality issues (overcooked meat/sour mac salad), these two managers went completely above and beyond to make things right. Jordon was incredibly understanding over the phone and promised to comp my next meal. When I went back to redeem it, Jordon was off, but Violet stepped right in. She listened to my past experience, took care of the order flawlessly, and the food came out absolutely perfect--fresh, delicious, and exactly like the commercials. I deeply appreciate that they never treated me like a "complaining customer." They listened with empathy, took my concerns seriously, and turned a frustrating situation into a fantastic experience. I had eaten at Zippy before they closed that location and moved to Canyon Pointe near Costco. I wanted ti give it a try for late lunch/early dinner. The place was almost empty t that time of the day. Looking oiver the menu, I picked the chicken Katsorean. The menu describes it as--Two tender boneless chicken cutlets, breaded in crunchy panko flakes and fried until golden then tossed in our housemade sweet, salty, garlicky Korean-style sauce. The meal came with the normal 2 scoops of rice and one of Hawaiian style macaroni salad. A hearty plate for sure. It was a bit disappointing. I was hoping for a more garlicky sauce. It just wasn; there to the taste. The chicken was fried until it was more than golden brown. The sauce I expected on the chicken was not there. For dessert, I got a strawberry cream cheese square. This was refreshing. Soft cream cheese cake topped with strawberry gelatin (Jello?) Service was very good Zippy's is not a place that I'd return to often. With a sad face and heavy heart I deem this Zippy's location a 2-star. It was clear when we entered that management did not staff or hire correctly. The 2-wait staff team was not enough to support and serve the entire restaurant. Somebody read this and hire some people! The food is bomb, but if I can't get it or it's cold, no one is happy. As we waited for over 1 hour to get our food, there were a lot of delivery pickups and a lobby full of people waiting to be seated. I never heard of Zippy's until last night. It's a Hawaiian restaurant. I was hoping to get chicken curry, but they don't sell that anymore. I got chicken katsu with rice & mac, vegeterian chili with rice, a slice of banana cream pie, and grilled corn bread. Everything came in much bigger portions than I thought they would! Got lunch out of the leftovers! Everything was really good. Definitely a place I will go back to. We were helped by Sumerlyn and she was awesome! She was sweet, answered my questions, had a lot of patience, and helped me sign up for rewards. The building is pretty big and it's air conditioned! The locker system for online orders makes the process for pickup convenient, however I ended up having to make several attempts to talk with the cashier after realizing I was missing several items (missing drink, utensils not included). Heard so much excitement about Zippy's opening so I had to check it out one night. It was large, bright and extremely cold inside - they are not afraid to use their air conditioning on full blast. Was not impressed with their Wun Tun Min, it tasted very plain, I much prefer those from Chinese restaurants. Spam musubi - not a fan of the rice texture. Prefer the one at another Hawaiian chain. It's one of those meals I keep coming back for because I know exactly what I'm getting. I was disappointed to see they stopped serving fried rice, though. To me, fried rice is such a Hawaiian staple, so it feels like something is missing without it. Service can be a little slow at times, but I guess they're just operating on Hawaiian time. Usually I get to attend grand openings for Zippy's in Vegas because my Kumu (teacher) would ask me to dance hula. This time around I was Illso it felt good to be here eating. Service on both times were great. The only negative was that someone wasn't standing by the counter where you enter and wait to be seated but that doesn't bother me but I can see some people get upset. Someone behind the take-out counter greeted me and we were sat quickly. Zippy's has finally landed in Summerlin, one of Vegas' most affluent suburbs, and always a necessity for the 9th island (#1). I have made it a mandate to visit all the Zippy's locations in Sin City, so here we are. The initial impressions are always good: new building, clean interior, spacious digs, and lots of seating for all types of parties. The diner vibe that Zippy's is known for is still intact and it feels casual enough to not feel too corporate'y. It seems like quite a few staff are from the Aloha State, which gives it some immediate cred. The average price for dishes on the menu are between $15-20. This feels expensive for loyalists to the brand, but foodflation hit Hawaiian far earlier than most. Still, the variety of Hawaiian comfort foods is extensive and a safe bet is their zip pack ($16), which contains a bit of everything: fried chicken, breaded fish filet, teriyaki marinated beef, spam, over a bed of rice and pickled radishes. This is their most popular dish for a reason. Add some chili and a mac salad and it becomes a deluxe. ($19) A go-to dish on my end is their chili loco moco ($16), which is their signature chili with gravy over two hamburger patties, mac salad, on rice. It's rich, indulgent, and the patties are cooked perfectly. Breakfast is still one of my favorite times to come to any Zippy's, but eggs with hashbrowns, spam, and Portuguese sausage will never get old. The only thing about this location that gets a ding star-wise is the fact the service can be a little slow. It's not just for takeout, but even seating customers on a regular day means folks are sitting around constantly. It's almost as if they're working on island time, which is not ideal useful for anyone in a hurry. Additionally their bakery is not as well stocked as I think it could be, but the weekends might be the best bet for their display case. A visit to this Zippy's should be casual, low expectations, and full of hunger. We got to Zippy's about 7:00 pm on a Wednesday evening. Not crowded at all and the place looked clean and bright. Our service was very good. Most of us ordered the special $10.99 Korean Fried Chicken & Chili Mixed Plate. We substituted the two scoops of rice for Mac salad and you only get 1 scoop of Mac salad for the 2 scoops of rice. At our Hawaiian restaurants at home we get 2 scoops of Mac for substitution of 2 scoops of rice. Overall the food was decent and enjoyed by the group. The Korean Fried Chicken was tasty, Mac salad was basic and the chili was okay. One of our guys ordered their chili with no beans and he was able to get that so if you don't like beans you can ask for that. This is the newest edition to the Zippy's line up, I was there on the second day of this location opening. We got there around 7:00pm it wasn't too crowded and we didn't have to wait long for a table to sit. The layout is nice and clean, seating area up front for the to go orders and next to that is the dessert case. The dine in area is not too big but enough to accommodate. I had to order the wrecking crew it was so good. I got a spam musubi on the side. We also ordered a chicken katsu plate and tried the corn chowder. The corn chowder was a little salty but still good. This being a new location and only the second day open they still need some work. It's small things of course the food is fire. They servers are still learning, they forgot to bring things out like tartar sauce for the fish and the katsu sauce for the katsu. Like I said it's nothing bad, all this can be fixed with time and more experience with the menu. The servers are friendly and always checking back on the table, I love that. We had the special, the Wrecking Crew Pac which includes Fried Chicken, Portugese Sausage, Hoki, and Chili. Our server took our order quickly, it seemed she had a large section (I only noted 2 servers for the restaurant). The wait for the food was long. The couple next to us sent an undercooked piece of fried chicken back. Our food arrived after about 20 minutes. My Korean fried chicken was good- enough for two meals. The loco moco was MASSIVE. 3 hamburger patties. We wanted to finish our lunch off with some malasadas but were told the dough wasn't rising correctly and they couldn't make them. I've previously used their pick up option- ordering online and picking up at the "food lockers". Such a cool concept to prevent crowding and longer waits. Simply text that you're there and your locker opens! So cool. The restaurant don't feel as "homey" as the restaurants in Hawaii, and the food is expensive (what isn't now a days?) but it's a nice reminder of home. This place is still brand new. Cool place after visiting red rock ! We stopped by for lunch after having a day at the red rock canyon and food was yummy. We had a kids meal good portion and two adult meals food was fresh and flavorful . We ordered a sundae and a banana creme pie .
