Rental price is overly expensive and Car owners don't maintain the interior and exterior cleanliness of their vehicles.

I reserved a Toyota Camry, but was given a Hyundai Santa Cruz mini pickup instead. To me, that's not even close to "similar." The Santa Cruz seats four but has a small, uncovered truck bed -- which meant all our luggage had to go inside the cab. That was inconvenient for several reasons: lack of security if we stopped anywhere, rain (which we knew was coming), and the risk of getting our bags dirty. If I wanted a small pickup, I would have reserved one. Ironically, I feel like if I had reserved a Santa Cruz, I probably would've ended up with a Camry! The rental agent seemed stressed and mentioned working long hours, so I didn't complain at the time. But since Avis asked for feedback, here it is -- I wasn't happy. After years of loyalty, I'll be looking at other rental options next time.

When we arrived promptly at noon, we were told that there were no cars available and to "come back AFTER 1pm." So that's what we did - arriving back around 1:30pm. Guess what? The location closes at 1pm and the employee specifically told us to come after their closing time. I called their number, of course no response. I emailed the manager of this location as well and surprise surprise, zero response. Absolutely terrible. Would give zero stars if I could.

Some credit card companies will cover you if you book with their card. I went through a lot of trouble to verify all of this prior to booking. We put in a reservation 1.5 weeks prior to our trip to ensure that we would a good choice in cars. We head to this budget location the day of our trip to pick up the car to which they refused to give us the car BUT already took the money out of our accounts. 1. The guy at the front desk was not helpful what-so-ever. No customer service help. Couldn't give us a comprehensive explanation of why our money was taken out of our accounts or why they refused us our paid car rental ON THE DAY WE NEEDED THE CAR. 2. The process of getting a refund was long and arduous. We called Budget customer service to which we were on hold for an hour. The minute we asked for our funds to be back into our account they again put us on hold. Mind you, by this time our trip is cancelled, we have no rental car, and Budget still has our $140 for our rental car. At this point, we spent our weekend not in Seattle but calling Budget and our banks to get a refund processed. I usually only rent from Enterprise but my friend decided on Budget. We learned our lesson. Never using or recommending this company again.

They have a giant security robot that roams the block ( completely useless) and one security guard at the drive through ramp. My husband went down the steps into the parking garage to get the car and my daughter and I stayed with all of the luggage. The lobby began to fill up so to be polite my daughter and I headed out front with our luggage to wait and make space for the new people. We were approached by a homeless man that was completely out of his mind loaded. He tried to grab either me, my daughter, or my luggage. As he approached I blocked my daughter and belongings. He kept grabbing at us. He kept telling me " come with me now. Come now! I'll take you places. Girl you come with me" I asked him to leave and he wouldn't. This exchange seemed to go on forever. My daughter was terrified. I glanced at the big security guy and pleaded for help with my eyes. Unfortunately he looked at me and went down the ramp. A man suddenly came around the corner to get into Enterprise for his car he was renting and swooped in to save the day. He started shouting at the man " this is my family! Leave! Hertz Rent A Car - Supposed "smoke ashes"

    Hertz Rent A Car

    (110 reviews)

service: UBER RENTAL employee: SOLEDAD DELGADO…read more My experience with the Uber rental program through Hertz in Beaverton was extremely negative, and the entire system feels exploitative toward drivers. Drivers are paying around $400 per week just to rent the car, plus another $200 or more per week in gas. If someone works hard and makes $1,000 in a week driving, they realistically walk away with maybe $400 before taxes and other expenses. That's not a sustainable system -- it effectively creates a working underclass of drivers who carry all the costs while Hertz and Uber collect guaranteed weekly payments. What made it worse is how poorly the vehicles are maintained. Drivers are expected to deal with things like oil changes, even though the cars are supposed to be part of a professionally managed rental fleet. The car I was given was already showing that it needed an oil change immediately, which tells you the vehicles aren't being properly serviced before they're handed out. Instead, the burden gets pushed onto the driver who is already paying hundreds of dollars per week to rent the car. The customer service at this location made the experience even worse. The employee who "assisted" me, Soledad Delgado, was disrespectful and unprofessional during the return process. After I asked several questions about the program and the charges, the interaction became increasingly hostile. When I returned the vehicle, I was told I could either clean the car myself or be charged a $75 cleaning fee. I went and spent $15 cleaning the car inside and out to avoid the fee. Even after doing that, I was told it was still up to his discretion whether he would charge the $75 anyway. At that point it no longer felt like a legitimate policy -- it felt like a way to punish a customer for asking too many questions. Between the excessive weekly costs, poorly maintained vehicles, and the unprofessional treatment at the Beaverton location, I would strongly caution anyone considering the Uber-Hertz rental program here. Drivers deserve better than a system that charges them hundreds of dollars per week while shifting maintenance responsibilities onto them and treating them like they're disposable.

Terrible Service, False Accusations, and Unjust Fees…read more We had a deeply frustrating experience returning a rental car to the Hertz location in Beaverton after picking it up at the Portland airport. Upon arrival, no one even asked for my name or any return details. A blonde employee took the keys and went to inspect the car. A few minutes later, she returned with another employee--who appeared to be a friend--and claimed they had to charge me a $250 smoking fee. This was completely absurd. Neither my wife nor I smoke, and we certainly did not smoke in the vehicle. In fact, my wife has asthma--she wouldn't even be able to tolerate being in a smoke-filled car. I immediately explained this and asked to see the supposed "ashes" they claimed to find in the middle console. The employee refused to show me anything and simply repeated the claim without evidence. I checked myself and saw absolutely nothing. I even offered to be tested for smoke exposure and mentioned that the scent may have been from Peruvian food we had the day before. The car was only in our possession for three days, and the idea that we'd somehow smoked in it during that time is completely unfounded. Still, I was told I either had to pay the fee or pay to have it cleaned to "remove the smell." I refused, as there was no smoke smell caused by us to begin with. Later, I returned with the car freshly aired out and sprayed with Febreze. This time, an older bearded employee claimed it still smelled like smoke and insisted the fee would remain. My wife reminded me that when we first got the car, it already had a faint smoke odor--which she didn't mention earlier because we didn't plan to use the car much, and assumed it had been cleaned to Hertz standards. Clearly, it wasn't. It's also important to note that I have a deviated septum, which makes it difficult for me to detect smells in the first place. To me, the car smelled completely fine. But this raises a major concern--what if someone who is alone and has similar difficulty identifying smells picks up a car that already smells like smoke? How would they defend themselves against a false accusation when Hertz provides no objective way to test or validate the claim? The system is set up so that the customer's word means nothing. You're guilty until proven innocent--and there's no way to prove your innocence. Out of frustration, I took the car to the Hertz location at the Hillsboro airport. There, I explained the situation to a much more professional and reasonable staff member. She looked up my record and confirmed there was a note in the system stating the previous renter had already reported the smoke smell when they received the vehicle. She even mentioned that another customer had come in just two days earlier with the same complaint, after renting from the Portland airport. She believed it was likely a cleaning issue at the Portland location--which makes complete sense, considering the pattern of complaints. I appreciate the help I received in Hillsboro, but I strongly urge others to avoid the Beaverton Hertz. The staff there was dismissive, unprofessional, and made baseless accusations without verifying information or providing proof. Once an accusation is made, it's your word against theirs--and they seem to operate under the assumption that the customer is guilty. I even spoke to my Uber driver after the return--he also shared that he'd had a terrible experience at this same location, involving the same three employees. That says a lot. If you value honesty and professionalism, steer clear of this Hertz. The staff lacks integrity, and you could easily find yourself being charged for something you had no part in--unless you have video evidence of every moment you had the car. Not worth the headache. I will be sure to add pictures of the supposed "ashes" in the middle console(but as you will see... there is nothing there except the regular car dust/lint/food crumbs).
