I needed a new alternator. Of course it was a holiday. I gave Zipin a call on the recommendation of the battery guy and asked for an estimate on cost and time. He called back after 5 minutes with the information. He was able to pull my car into a bay when I arrived 20 minutes later. The work was completed within 2 hours and at the estimated cost. My car is running great and I'm a happy camper. They also were able to trouble shoot my "low tire" idiot light ... it was the spare that was low. Our triple AAA guy sent us to these guys and tried to make my boyfriend pay $700 for a "broken crank sensor", we took it to another shop and there was abstolutely nothing wrong with the car except a hanging wire, which cost nothing to fix. Zero stars if I could! Last Saturday my boyfriend took my 2007 Chevy Cobalt in for an oil change. The guy changing the oil says "come look at this" and proceeds to show him oil on our shocks. He says they are both leaking and that is VERY dangerous, then quoted my boyfriend $450 to replace them. We don't know much about cars so of course we were freaked out but decided to get a second opinion at a mechanic we knew we could trust. In the meantime I had to miss an out of town visit to my mother because we were afraid to drive the car with it's 'dangerous, leaking shocks'. We had to get a rental car on Sunday because we'd need one for work while the car was at another mechanics shop getting repaired. Fast forward to today....we heard from the owner of the reputable shop this morning. Turns out the shocks are fine! In fact he did a diagnostic and the car is in very good condition. He said they probably put the oil there themselves to try and scam us. So be aware that this place scams people. We hear about these things happening all the time but now I have proof. I'm pissed because it cost us money to rent the car as well as money to have the car diagnosed for NOTHING and it ruined my weekend plans I will be filing a report with the Bureau of Automotive Repair and they have lost our business. **Update - Within minutes of my review being posted someone from this shop called my boyfriends cell and continued to do so at least 10 times in the 2 or 3 days following this review. He has nothing to talk to them about. If they are so concerned they should contact me through here. read more

Went to this place with a coupon for $12.95 including oil change, new oil filter, and $2 extra for 5w30. Ended up charging me $5 extra for oil filter, $10 for 5w30 oil, $16 just to drain the oil, and $2 for disposal fee. He gave me a $16 discount but I still got charged $18. Typical car mechanic rip off. It's places like this that give a bad name to car mechanics. Go to Midas across the street, I got my oil changed there last time, and they didn't try to swindle anything extra from me. Plus Midas has more people going there, this place was practically empty. I came in for a standard tune-up for my SUV. Their posted standard price is $79, but the person (looks like the owner) convinced me that my car costs more time (3hr vs 5min for Toyota/Honda) to fix and asked for $300. That shocked me and I had to agree when he lowered it to $250. Then he pushed me by saying one of my oxygen sensors needed replacement. He even showed me the error code as a proof, telling me my car would fail in 3 months if I don't do it. He even tried to have the part delivered to the shop and showed me, offered to lower the price from $200 to $150 if I agreed the work right away. I became wary of the push and declined it. Today I went to another shop and did an engine scan, there is no error code at all! Also I wonder why he asked more than 4 times over the posted cost for the tune-up. I took my car to Zipin Out for an oil change after finding it here on Yelp, and it was exactly the experience that I want when getting my oil changed. I called ahead to check how busy they were, and I was told to come on down right then. When I got there, I gave the usual information and my keys, and they quoted me 20 minutes for the work. Their waiting room had a bunch of chairs, and was overall fairly clean and quiet. They have a TV on in the room as well, in case you need some distraction from your phone. The work was done within the quoted time, or less even (I wasn't exactly timing things), and then I paid my bill. The cost with tax and everything was just under $30 (standard oil, not synthetic), and that was without any coupons or anything, so quite a value in my opinion. One thing that really made the experience great, was that at no point did they try any up-sell tactics whatsoever. Honestly, even if the price had been higher I would still have been happy because of this fact; I can't stand how most places push extra services when you just want a quick oil change. Overall, Zipin Out provided me with what I want when getting my oil changed: fast, affordable, no hassle service. The owner is at the store most days, and the same mechanics have been working at Zipin Out for many years. Having an auto service background, I know how much parts cost. Zipin Out does not overcharge for parts and charges a fair price for service. There are many other service stations that are closer to me. But, I drive 20 miles out of my way to have my car serviced at this store. I would not trust anyone else with my car. read more

I do most of the easy and routine maintenance on my SUV myself, but when I need something a bit more complex done, I usually take it to Zipin. The service is good and the wait isn't too long either in most cases. It can get pricey though if you get multiple things done though, I spent almost $900 in the last 2 weeks here in repairs. They charge $90 per hour in labor. What I really like about them is that they don't try to upsell or try and persuade you to do "extra" services or repairs; if they find that an old part in your car that still works, they'll tell you that you don't need to replace it yet. read more

They did the rear brakes on my Buick for $60(I provided the pads) and threw in a brake fluid flush for $20. I get my oil/filter changed there all the time on their $16.95 coupon special. It is certainly a good deal. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that they over filled the oil when I asked them to leave me room for to add an oil additive and the rear brakes made a scraping noise when I left. But they were more than happy to correct both issues right away. When I came back they just put the car right up right away...
