She was very patient and explained every step very thoroughly until I was comfortable enough to do it. - She took care of so many things. Finding similar real estates to check if the asking price is reasonable, creating all the documents, finding inspectors, getting quotes and such. - I bought the place while living in California. Shari made it very easy for me by going to showings and showing the place to me on FaceTime, going to the closing and such. I only flew there once to see the place before closing, but it was because I wanted to. She made the process of buying a house so easy that I didn't even had to be in the state! She's extremely helpful and friendly and I'd definitely recommend her!

With that in mind, Urban Durham Realty was the obvious choice and we are so happy with them, in general, and our agent, Marcelle Thomas, in particular. It was not our first time buying a house, or buying long distance, but it was the first time buying a house in NC, with its unique real estate customs, and Marcelle walked us through it all with patience and grace. She listened carefully to what we were looking for, even as we knew that finding the full package - our unicorn house, we called it - was going to be a long shot. We came up for what we thought would be the first of several weekends house hunting and by the end of that first day had found our new home. Marcelle guided us through the offer, the contract, and the few hiccups with the out-of-state closing and was very responsive whenever we had questions and made sure to keep us up on where things stood at all times. Marcelle was an absolute delight to work and tour houses with. Highly recommended.

After a recommendation, our first - virtual - meeting with Susan confirmed she was the perfect fit. The search for the right home for us spanned several months, and throughout the entire process, Susan was truly exceptional. She navigated the inherent stresses of home buying with grace, humor and understanding. She has a remarkable instinct for when to provide encouragement and when to give us the space needed to make decisions. Beyond being warm and approachable, she is incredibly hardworking. During house tours, she provided detailed insights, identifying potential repairs and offering honest assessments of each home's structural integrity and overall condition. Once we found a house, Susan expertly negotiated the price and terms, keeping us fully informed each step of the way. If you are looking for a dedicated agent in the Triangle area, we highly recommend Susan and RED Collective!

Ryan helped me find and buy an amazing house, sight unseen, from across the country (my first…read morehouse!). He was helpful, knowledgeable, and appropriately skeptical as we were picking houses to bid on. He knew how to structure offers that were reasonable but strong, given our situation. He guided us through negotiations around inspections and shoring up loose legal ends, and he even helped us with a raw land opportunity that popped up halfway through our purchase. I'd absolutely work with Ryan again, but it went so well I have no reason to for quite some time.

Ryan is awesome! I highly recommend hiring him to be your real estate agent. When my husband and I…read morewere first looking to move to the area I did a quick search for real estate agents on Yelp, Ryan's paged looked great and since it said he responded to Yelp messages typically within an hour (because who wants to pick up a phone?!) I figured I would reach out to see if he had any last minute availability to show us to a few properties and he did. Although Ryan's office is based in Chapel Hill don't let that deter you, we were only looking in Raleigh. He knows all the ins and outs of the Raleigh neighborhoods and can get here quickly when you need him. We went under contract only two weeks after working with him. He uses Patrick with a local home inspection company to do the inspection and he did a thorough job. After the great inspection Ryan said the only thing left he could think of was a metal detector test of the property, since the house was older and there was a small chance of an underground oil tank. We did the test not thinking much of it and turns out there was an underground tank and it had extensively leaked. Ryan and his assistant Karen headed up making all the appointments and getting the right people out there to deal with the issue. Sadly the seller didn't want to really deal with the issue so away that contract went. Since Ryan knew what we were looking for was kind of niche he sent us a property here and there and we kept our eyes open as well. When a house popped up on the market on a Thursday night we text him if he could meet us there the next morning to take a look. He did and we feel in love. We put an offer in that day and started the process all over again. The second time around we worked with Karen a lot and she is great to work with as well. We successfully closed on this house and love where we ended up. An additional note since Ryan works in a group with a few other real estate agents if you need to see a house in a hurry and he isn't available, he will coordinate with someone in his office who is. Team work for the win!

Ellen Dagenhart was our agent and it was an awful, awful experience. Initially she was a charming lady and probably would be lovely to have lunch with but I wouldn't use her for an agent. After being shown multiple houses, many that were out of our price range, out of our style and out of the location parameters we had offered we had to eventually go with someone else. We found a house in a matter of 2 weeks rather than the months we ended up wasting with this company. She also managed to show us a lot of houses where she would have represented the buyers and sellers which just seem unethical to me, but maybe that is the way things work. We tried to consistently given feedback on what we wanted to see but were ignored. We let her know that we were going to part ways and she was totally offended, surprised and seemed not to understand that we weren't seeing eye to eye despite multiple conversations. Perhaps this should color your thoughts of the whole organization, but she has been with them a long time. We ended up going with her giving her length in the business and her glowing review on their site. I've been in Durham over 10 years and I love this place, but I'll avoid these folks when I buy or sell in the future.

So, I did what I thought any normal, house-buying person would do, and I called their office. I should tell you this was actually the third time I'd called that office in my life. The first time was because I saw a house with one of their signs out front that said "For Sale" on it. I thought if I left a message that said "I'm interested in that house on so-and-so street..." I might get a call back. Wrong! The second time I called Marie Austin I also had to leave a message. This was months later, and like I mentioned, I wanted to buy a house. I had to call a third time because no one called me back. When I finally got someone that third time, she said her name was Wanda. Wanda, I would soon learn, is a very condescending lady. Right away, she asked me how much I could spend. I told her because it seemed like a reasonable question and I expected her to then think of some great little areas I hadn't thought of that were right in my price range and had that certain something I was looking for. But what actually happened was that she started listing the nicest neighborhoods in Durham and told me not to bother because I couldn't afford them. Who does that? At this point in the conversation, I am confused at how blatantly I am being pigeonholed and spoken down to by this lady. But I kind of thought maybe this is how real estate agents talk? I really didn't know because it was my first time trying to by a house. But she was basically ignoring the things I said, which is not good in any retail situation. She told me that I should call her back in a few months when there were more listings. She told me that I should not just be calling random agencies because no one was going to take me seriously. Really, Wanda, I wasn't trying to be taken seriously, I just wanted to buy a house. And I did. Using Berkshire Hathaway in Durham. Which is the classiest place I've ever been and I had the best experience.

I've known Justin by working with him through my business for the past 8 years, which has put me in direct contact with hundreds of Realtors throughout the years. My husband and I met with him in April 2025 to talk about listing and officially hired him to sell our house that June. Even in a tough market with plenty of competition in our own development, he gave us the honest, data-driven advice we needed to set a realistic price. His marketing was excellent and showcased the house perfectly without being overdone--which is something I appreciate. It got people out to see the property, even in our rural area. We were honestly prepared for the long haul, but his strategy worked and we had a full price offer in under a week. Justin's sense for the market is incredible and he is easily one of the best in the business. I wouldn't hesitate to hire him or bring any of his Premier Agents Network team's expertise in to help guide your next move.
