I live in Midland and brought friends visiting from Kentucky, along with our kids (ages 6-9), specifically to Brinstar so the kids could enjoy the games. We were having a great time until, completely out of the blue, the owner approached us and told us that if the kids broke any of the games, we would be responsible for paying for them because they are 30 years old. I completely understand wanting to protect valuable, vintage equipment. That is reasonable. What was not reasonable was the way it was communicated. There is a right way and a wrong way to address customers, especially families who are there spending money and trying to enjoy themselves. I was so uncomfortable with the interaction that I went to our server, who was incredibly kind and sweet, and told her we were going to leave and simply pay for our drinks. She even offered to have the drinks put into to-go cups. At that point, the other female owner, who was sitting at the bar, commented that the games were 30 years old and that we should "parent our kids." Excuse me? We absolutely understand the responsibility of supervising our children. What we did not expect was to be spoken to in that manner by the owners of an establishment we were patronizing. As someone who was also raised in the hospitality industry, I understand that protecting your business and your property is important. But hospitality is also about how you communicate with your customers. A simple, friendly, "Hey guys, just a heads up--these games are vintage and we ask that the kids please be careful with them" would have accomplished the exact same thing without making your customers feel unwelcome or insulted. We came in excited to introduce our out-of-town friends and their kids to your establishment. Instead, we left embarrassed and disappointed. The food may be great, but unfortunately, great food doesn't make up for making your customers feel unwelcome. I sincerely hope this is something the owners take to heart, because there was a much better way to handle this situation.

We ended up going to a game on a kids' day, so we knew in advance that the stadium would be packed with school kids. Parking here was one of the easiest places I've been to. We parked right outside the stadium for like $5 and were inside after a minute walk. Super easy and everyone was friendly working the lot. We entered via the outfield entrances, so we had to walk all the way around the stadium to get to our seats down the third base line. They had some nice fireplaces in right center and adirondack chairs located all over the concourse looking onto the field. There really isn't a bad seat in the house as the stadium isn't big enough or poorly designed enough to offer bad sightlines. Food was a little disappointing. While there were a crazy amount of options, the pork was just okay and the nachos were the same. I'd have to come back and try some of the other stuff since there's just so much variety. If you're even remotely a baseball fan and you're in the area, Dow Diamond is worth a trip.

I will never buy a mixed drink from them again. Period. But my biggest complaint is this. All these sweet kids running around with balls and cards to be signed are completly and entirely ignored by players. I understand not spending 30 mins signing autographs, I really do. But at the very bare minimum, speak. " hey guys thanks for coming, sorry I can't sign anything right now." That's it. Takes two seconds. Instead these adults who you pay to see completely ignore the kids. It's sad. You're getting paid to be watched. The least you can do is speak, or wave. These kids look up to you, and after tonight I can't see why.
