One ordered banana and after a couple bites realized she was allergic. She asked if there were peanuts in the BANANA ice cream and was told yes there were. She mentioned that she was allergic and asked if she could have a new scoop and was denied! Mind you there was no signage up near the registers except for outside at the walk up window saying to inform of allergies. They had a line out the door but couldnt offer to replace the scoop shed paid at least $5 for and had to throw away? What a shame!! And how rude. read more

I am actually apalled by how terrible the customer service is here. My friend has a peanut allergy and ordered the "Banana Graham" flavor, which had no indication of containing peanuts in it. She quickly realized it had peanuts in it after having a bite and had to spit it out and take a benadryl. I asked the lady at the counter if the flavor had peanuts which she confirmed, and when I informed her of my friend's allergy and asked for a replacement flavor, she blamed my friend for not disclosing her allergy. She declined to replace the ice cream and told us to get to the back of the line and pay again if we want a new scoop. She had no empathy for my friend and did not ask if she was going to be okay. (Ziggy's is CASH ONLY) I had cash, so it wasn't an inconvenience to me - and they have an ATM on the back patio, so I guess customers aren't totally inconvenienced if they need to get cash. However, the processing charges simply aren't high enough to justify irritating your customers - or, worst case, turning them away to go to a competitor because they only have a credit card. Seems like the owner of this spot is just old school and set in their ways, perhaps? There's a million signs all over the store and patio telling you what you can/can't do, so it's got kind of a grumpy vibe. I arrived at Ziggy's in Plymouth at 8:45 p.m. last night, excited to finally try this place after hearing good things. Their website clearly lists a 9:00 p.m. closing time, and Yelp actually says they're open until 11:00 p.m. -- yet when I got there, the lights were off, doors locked, and not a single person in sight. No note on the door, no message online, and no one answering the phone when I called, just completely closed 15 minutes before their own posted hours, and more than two hours before what Yelp lists. It's incredibly disappointing, especially since I even called ahead while en route to confirm they were open, and still found the place deserted. If you're going to advertise hours, at least honor them or update them when you decide to close early. This kind of inconsistency and lack of professionalism is unacceptable, and it's a shame, because I really wanted to like this place. Excellent! We've been here twice. Service is prompt, friendly and the ice cream has a fresh, creamy quality taste. We got the mint chocolate chip, which has actual chip shaped chocolate but small enough to eat easily, and maple walnut which had good maple flavor and the walnuts were fresh and not mushy. Sometimes there are a few people in line outside, the line moves quickly so don't get discouraged. However, you can go directly inside and order too. I saw that the folks in the outside line had strollers, so be sure to take a peek inside as you might be able to get your order in quicker if you pop inside as they do have a couple order lines. I'd recommend bringing some wipes as the weather gets warmer. The ice cream portions are generous, you may get some drippy stickyness you'll want to clean off later. I ordered the Lobster Roll and was pleased to receive a buttered toasted roll lined with crisp fresh lettuce and packed with at least 4oz of fresh claw and tail meat. No mayonnaise, no gimmicks. Just fresh steamed lobster with some seasonings and butter that couldn't make it down my gullet fast enough. The onion rings were nice and crispy, and the staff were pleasant and quite friendly - especially being a staff that must deal with some touchy people, being in a tourist spot and all.
