Just a great lunch. Everything was just so good. Amazingly friendly service from start to finish. Perked high on the roof overlooking Urgup the views were great. The food was spot on with Greta flavors. To start the bread and tomato dipping sauce are irresistible. First dish was the stuffed vegetable of the day. Onions studded with rice, nut and raisin mixture served cold with high quality olive oil and fresh dill (Yet another thing to dip the bread in). It was very refreshing for on a hit Cappadoccia afternoon. For the mains we got the skewered chicken in Ziggy Sauce which seems to be very popular. It was tasty and was a favorite of the table. The ziggy fried potatoes were also popular amongst other diners and we enjoyed them as well. The steak seemed like just a safe choice for my son, and it was. However it was served with 2 pleasant surprises. First an herby tomato like rice with hints of Parmesan. Second, and my favorite, was a very unusual eggplant. At first bite it throws you off, I've never had anything quite like it. The lovely staff was nice enough to share the cooking method minus a few "secret ingredients". First, the round(not long) Turkish eggplant, is smoked on the grill until soft. Then it's cooled and peeled, then sautéed in butter and seasoning. It's very unique and not for everyone. I think I was the only one that liked it so I got it all to myself. Dessert was also fantastic. Fried dough with powdered sugar cinnamon served with sliced apples. And a great Turkish pudding with ice cream and molasses. Great spot, prices are a bit above the average, but we'll worth it.

The setting here is very beautiful and the food is tasty. It is also, however, quite expensive and feels very touristy. The restaurant was recommended to us by a travel agent, and it definitely feels like the kind of place a lot of people might be sent to by travel agents. Some of the flavors they were mixing were inventive and unique, but if we were to go back to Cappadocia we would probably choose a different lunch destination. The Old Greek House in Mustafapasa blew our experience at Ziggy's out of the water!

    very nice interior!
