Spectacular views at a Michelin-recommended spot in the small village of Goreme. The hotel is among the highest in town, giving you expansive views of the village below. Food is good, priced a little higher than restaurants in town but worth it if you get a good table (I had a great one). Service was adequate, but the lack of reservations (or a guarantee you'll get a good table) is always a risk. Surprised they wouldn't even let hotel guests reserve in advance. read more

Found this beautiful restaurant on trip advisor while searching for vegetarian friendly restaurants while in Cappadocia. Little did I know it was be a couple of minutes walk from our cave hotel. I was planning on getting a cab. That would have been hilarious because we literally walked through the stairs within the cave hotels. It was extremely cold and we were told the wait time would be 30 minutes. They told us to wait in the check in section which was really nice a warm. The employees were kind. 5 minutes later they called for us to be seated. We got the best few overlooking the entire city. Ordered drink, not the best, then appetizers and main course. I got the hummus which was excellent and the main was a fettuccine which was a bit weird because it was broken into small pieces but tasted okay. It said vegetables but I didn't get any. The butter sauce with the cheese was good. All in all the food was good. I didn't even look at the bill. Tap my card and called it a night. read more

Amazing traditional Turkish food and service. Service is so good here. Full menu with appetizers, entrees and dessert. Decent size portions. They have the meat cooked in the clay pot. The rice here is soooo good. Cozy, traditional decor. The price is on par with all the other hotel restaurants in the area since they all cater to tourists, which is much higher than what a local person would pay and some of the more casual restaurants in town. Going off recommendations from my friend who had previously visited Cappadocia and the rave Yelp reviews, my party and I dined at Seten restaurant in our first night visiting the area. We learned that they take walk-ins only, so we were lucky enough to get a table on the terrace with a beautiful view of the stunning rock formations into which the city of Goreme was built. Of note, the restaurant can be a little tough to find - even with the navigation. There's both a lower and upper entrance. The restaurant is on the Sultan Cave Suites hotel property, so look for those signs to the hotel to help you! We started off with the Cappadocian red wine, which was tasty and smooth. To eat, complimentary bread was brought for the table with herbed olive oil, and for our starters, we shared the hummus and muhammara. The hummus was excellent, with a thick slightly coarse consistency that felt very rustic in preparation. For our main meal, we shared the steaming hot vegetable bouquet, and each had the seasonal salad. Everything was very fresh and well-prepared! We topped off the night with some Turkish tea and small biscuits. There were a couple reasons I knocked off one star from this review. Our table was right next to the large outdoor fire pit which had nice aesthetics but was quite large and strong. Occasionally embers and pieces of ash would fly out, which was not at all fun to inhale. Secondly, one of the staff members checking people in upon their arrival, showing them seats, and preparing people's bills was clearly sick - sniffling, coughing and all the whole evening (seemed like a postnasal drip). It was certainly not pleasant to be near, and given that he had close contact with several patrons and stood nearby the whole night, it made us concerned for our own health when we were trying to enjoy a nice meal. read more

Excellent restaurant located inside the Sultan Cave Suites hotel. Expansive views of the city from their perch high at the very tip top of the hill. They've taken advantage of the views to the fullest extent with outdoor seating and indoor seating with glass walls of windows. Open air and gorgeous in summer time. Food is excellent and they're busy so make a reservation if you can. We had lunch here once and daily breakfast was included with our stay on site. We did a cooking class run by the hotel and our guide took us up the mountain to the organic farm owned by the family who runs the hotels. We picked our veggies and then went down into King's Valley to their farm and cooked and enjoyed lunch. She informed us that this family used to be farmers, like most of the residents, but now that tourism is the main attraction they've converted their homes into the lovely hotels (they have three side by side) and their farm furnishes the food and breakfasts for the hotel. Wonderful. So if you dine here you can be sure the food is organic and fresh bc we drove up the hill and saw it and cooked it with the hard working crew who make breakfast and other goodies to be enjoyed by the guests. Capadoccia is a small tourist town, an oasis in the midst of a vast valley of compressed sand, soft enough for ancient dwellers and early Christians to carve out chapels and homes and live there for centuries before the Ottoman Empire came along. As a tourist town, most of the restaurants are catered to a transitory crowd looking for an authentic Anatolian food experience. And Seten delivered just that. With a view. Everything about this restaurant is a beautiful flex. It's a rooftop with a cozy, wooden, ottoman era style interiors with fireplaces everywhere to keep you warm during the colder months as you dine. The wait staff is incredibly nice, patient, welcoming and accommodating. They also had traditional live music playing when we dined there. The food was an ever so slight departure from the traditional Turkish offerings. While they did have your standard soups and mezzes, they had some interesting options like a Turkish ravioli which is tiny, tiny parcels of pasta or dumplings packed with meat cooked and served with a tomato and yogurt based sauce. I don't eat red meat but I decided to make an exception in this case because the dish was far too intriguing for me to resist. We also got a glass of Yeni Raki which is basically a Turkish liquor that has strong fennel undertones. The mezze platter was delicious but also fairly standard. The manti or Turkish ravioli was a star. I would have perhaps liked for it to have a bit more heat but still very delectable and unique in flavor and texture. The Raki complimented our meal perfectly. It comes to you as a clear liquid in a glass but when diluted with water, it turns milky in color. We finished off our meal with a rice pudding that was served cold with a brûléed top and served with nuts. I imagine this place would be even better, aesthetically speaking, in the summer. The food here was very disappointing. Bland and not cooked properly. I had the "fettuccine with vegetables, butter and cheese." The dish lacked salt and pepper, even with the cheese and butter it was extremely bland. I added salt at the table but when I tried to add black pepper from the table pepper grinder, the grinder was completely empty, not even one pepper corn. A completely empty pepper grinder seems to say the restaurant had not checked it in days. My friend had the sour chicken. Compared to the average Turkish cafe on any street in Cappadocia, the chicken was totally under seasoned and overcooked. It was dry and boring. We ordered 2 desserts - the tahini soufflé (thinking it sounded like an interesting soufflé flavor) and the pumpkin crème brûlée. The soufflé was not cooked at all beyond the edges. The middle was completely runny, like a liquid. It had not set up at all inside, which is the whole concept of the soufflé cooking technique. When they brought us the pumpkin crème brûlée, it was not brûléed. The top was soft, and I could see all the sugar granules not melted. When I pointed out the top was not cooked, the waiter said it was cooked, but then he randomly came back with the torch. No one brought the torch with the dish, no one mentioned they would bring the torch. Of course after he torched it, it then had the standard caramelized, glassy top. There were 2 highlights- first, the location. Obviously, people come here for the view and ambiance, which was beautiful. And second we ordered the hummus as a started and the hummus was tasty with a nice smooth consistency, and tasty toppings. If I were to be visiting Cappadocia again in the future, I would just go to the bar for the view, drinks and/ or hookah. read more

Seten Anatolian restaurant is the in-house restaurant of Sultan Cave suites hotel in Goreme. Aside from culinary treats, their rooftop is famous for its beautiful view of Goreme town and the valleys. This place specializes in traditional Turkish and Cappadocian cuisine mixed with other international favorites. We started our dinner with hummus served with homemade bread with a bottle of Turkish Rosé, the hummus was smooth and silky. For the main, I selected oxtail tandoori served with mashed potatoes and lamb shank; slow-cooked with teriyaki sauce and homemade plum sauce served with mashed eggplant. Both dishes were delicious and filling. The meat of the oxtail was falling off the bone, that's how tender the meat was! This place is a must to visit for dinner. Ah, I really wanted to love Seten Restaurant. From locals and fellow tourists, we heard stellar reviews about Seten. We stayed at a Sultan Cave Suites so we were able to have breakfast here daily and did dinner here one night too. We were highly unimpressed with the food. Take my review with a grain of salt if you're not a vegetarian because I'm solely basing this off the foods I tried. But the mezes were bland in my opinion. The bread could have made up for it, but it was nothing extraordinary either. I tried to enjoy their breakfast options... we went here for their complimentary breakfast and I was disappointed day 1. I tried it again the next day and ended up going to get breakfast elsewhere afterwards. What I have to commend them on is their outstanding service. Giving this place five stars for a great lunch we had in Cappadocia. It should be noted too that the food here is excellent relative to the many mediocre offerings available in the neighborhood. First off was a starter of fried eggplants and tomato with garlic. Super flavorful and really good. Wife got the hummus which went over well. I had the Cappadocian Ravioli which I very much enjoyed. Pics attached. Other daughter had the chicken cutlet which was tender and flavorful and perfectly cooked. It wasn't like the giant chicken breast back in the US that is full of water and hormones. This was chicken as it should be in its natural state. Also a decent place for kids as they have many tables and you can be out of the way a little bit. Got to our hotel pretty late at night and managed to visit this restaurant which was still open. It gets a good review for the service, the food and the ambience. Totally not disappointing at all. We were not being rushed to order (the kitchen was scheduled to close 15 minutes after we arrived). We ordered what we came here for... While staying at the Sultan Cave Resort we wandered up to Seten for dinner one evening. The other Yelp reviews did not lead us astray, spot on! I love this resort and the restaurant is the cherry on top. The mixed appetizer platter came a little late but was well worth it. The flavors of the eggplant and the yogurt sauce were delicious. The hummus was a tad spicy but we like heat so didn't mind it at all. I ordered the lamb shank, and my husband ordered the lamb shoulder. We both enjoyed our own dishes (usually we share) but I preferred my own and he preferred his. Bother we're perfectly prepared. Def worth the trip! read more

We came to this restaurant in Göreme for dinner while staying in that town. We didn't have reservations but they were able to sit us right away since they weren't fulI, however I can see this place getting really busy during high season. It's a bit more upscale than most of the restaurants in the town center but not uptight by any means. We started off with the grape leaves which were good. We followed that with Turkish pasta which initially we thought was going to be the traditional manti but it wasn't, it was more like a deconstructed version of manti. The pasta itself wasn't anything great but the meat sauce that topped the pasta was absolutely delicious. I wish all manti dishes everywhere else would be served with this meat sauce instead of just garlicky yogurt. We also had the Seten kebab which was a total disappointment, way too many fries and not enough meat. To end our meal we had the sütlaç (rice pudding) which is served with Turkish ice cream on the side. The pudding was good but even better was the bit of ice cream we got with it. It was different that the usual Turkish ice cream you get on the streets, still thick but a bit creamier and not too sweet. Service was great and very attentive. The prices were reasonable for this type of setting. read more

We had no reservations around 7 pm on a Wednesday night in May (definitely low tourist season) and there were no tables outside or with a view. We got a table inside but were able to go up to their hotel's terrace to get some nice photos of the sunset. You can pay with credit card here. They had Wi-Fi as well. The service was very professional. It cost 115 TL before tips, but none of our dishes were worth it; see my photos for details. Dining under the stars with good food is always a memorable occasion. I had the slow cooked LAMB SHANK in house made plum sauce with mashed eggplant and it was simply the best fall off the bone ever. My wife had the LAMB STEW cooked & served in a flaming clay pot . We paired our selection with local Kapadokya Pinot Grigio. Then a leisurely water pipe smoke at the roof top veranda made for a perfect evening. I know you'll have the same memorable experience! read more

We visited Seten to celebrate my teenage daughter's birthday while in Cappadocia. Having already spent a couple of days in the town of Göreme and dined around, I must say this place blows the others out of the water. The restaurant is located alongside the Kelebek Cave hotel (which incidentally I would stay in if I came back to Cappadocia) and serves a variety of home made Turkish delicacies. We had the stuffed squash blossoms, the gypsy chicken and the Seten steak. All were flavorful and absolutely delicious. And the homemade Halava was like nothing I had ever had in my lifetime. There is even a kids menu (including chicken nuggets, though I refused to let my son order that)! Of course I came for the wine. I love to try local wine but being a wine snob I was somewhat skeptical of trying the Cappadocian wine. This was mostly due to seeing how restaurants on the main drag of Göreme stored and advertised their wines. (One ad mentioned hot wine, which might be tasty, but not really aligned with my sensibilities). Seten has an enormous selection of wines, some of them made on site in the wine cave cellar, an old cellar used for centuries before our time to make wine in the traditional foot stomping method. If I were not here with my kids I'd likely come back for a full day just to explore the wide variety of wines on hand... We ate outside on the patio overlooking the town. For those of you who have not been to Göreme, it is known for its "fairy chimneys," layers of lava compacted and then carved into pillars by wind and water through the millennia. Walking through these pillars is like being in another world. Many hotels are carved into the rock as "cave hotels" so this was the view from the patio. There was a nice breeze and the staff offered us ponchos to keep the cold away. Dress ranges from casual to upscale. We were dressed up to celebrate my daughters birthday, but there were people in jeans. The waitstaff wears formal attire as it is white table cloth / napkin service. My only regret is that I did not discover Seten earlier so I could dine there multiple times. I guess I'll have to come back to Cappadocia and do that! read more

This was right next door to my hotel, and we came here for dinner. The ambiance, service, decor, and view were really nice, but I think the food left a little more to be desired. To start out, they brought us 2 different types of bread -- garlic bread that was soft and fluffy (but kind of odd for Turkish food, it seemed like it would accompany pasta or Italian food better), and then another bread that was delicious with olive oil and dukkah (ground nuts mixture) The bread with olive oil and dukkah was my favorite. The meze platter was also really delicious and one of my favorites that I've had so far in Turkey. There were 9 different things on the platter - the roasted eggplant was great, and the hummus was flavorful, fresh, and the texture was great. There was a spicy red paste that went really well with the yogurt sauce. Basically it was all wonderful and I think I ate a half a loaf of bread between not being able to stop with the dukkah and the great platter of meze. So if you come here for just the meze platter and desserts, you will probably be fine -- but where I was really disappointed was in the main dishes. Both of the chicken dishes we got were not great; we got a chicken filet that was so thin, I thought I was eating a piece of sliced deli meat. Or as my Mom put it, she thought she was eating the sole of a shoe. The chicken kabobs were 2 skewers with cubes of chicken but the chicken was super dry. What they lacked in food, they had great service and good dessert. We originally ordered the dessert sampler for 2 people, and the server was so kind to make us a platter for 5 people so that we could each try one of the desserts instead of having to share little bites of each ones. Their baklava was really great - not too syrupy or sweet, and I enjoyed trying their quince dessert, candied pumpkin, stuffed apricot, and some cheese thing. I was full but ate one of each and then thought I may go into a happy diabetic coma. If you stick with the meze platter, you'll be happy camper. Maybe we just ordered wrong, but the two entrees that we got were nothing special. For Cappadocia where everything seems like a tourist trap or overly priced mediocre food, this place was alright -- but I think you can probably find cheaper and better elsewhere if you look hard enough. Delicious Turkish food, in a restaurant that is intertwined with the cave hotels in Cappadocia (Goreme). This is an upscale, white-tablecloth restaurant with possibly the best food in the region. (Best we had, anyway). The prices were extremely reasonable, comparable to the other (less fancy) restaurants in the area. If you are staying in a cave hotel then you can probably walk to this place. It's easy to miss, but don't give up! We really enjoyed the food, and we talked to a couple at a table over who were also raving about the food. Wonderful restaurant and delicious food. We tried some local Merlot wine too. We were 11 of us and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here. The place was chosen by the tour company and tour guide and the lunch was pre-ordered. The cuisine is local Turkish and we have a variety of things. so glad we discovered seten instead when we found out that topdeck cave restaurant was completely booked up for the night as we were looking to celebrate my sisters birthday while we were in cappadochia and only discovered because i had bookmarked it as one of lonely planets recommended restaurants. Any who, we get to seten and we dint have reservations but we were able to get seated pretty quickly which was a sigh of relief because this place because it looks like this place can get really busy. My cousin ordered a glass of red wine with her dinner which she thought was very good and enjoyed it. for dinner we got the seten kebab, the adana kebab and testi kebab (claypot) the seten kebab was perfection with the kebab meant being super flavorful and tender and the fries and sauce that came with it were also good and were a great balance to the dish. the testi kebab was probably one of the best we had as we had tried it in istanbul too but seten's was hands down the best. we closed the meal with their tiramisu which was also an interesting combination of flavors but they worked and tasted great. this restaurant is a bit of a walk up and hard to find but definitely worth the visit if you are staying in goreme. read more

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel, the Kelebek, and it was surprisingly good. It's definitely trying to be a more upscale restaurant in comparison with the other dining options in Goreme, but it did not disappoint. The service was excellent, and the prices were very reasonable. We had eaten quite a bit of meat on the trip, so we went for the vegetarian options at this meal. We shared a salad, which was HUGE, and quite delicious, as well as the stuffed eggplant and the stuffed squash flowers. The staff was very kind, despite the fact we ordered the cheapest options on the menu (only because we were trying to stay away from meat!) and didn't order any wine. We would highly recommend this restaurant. I would stay away from some of the obvious tourist restaurants in town, and head up the hill to try this place. It is definitely worth the trek! read more
