Missing a lot of vegetable
Wendy B.

Chili paste was great. Turkish pizza was disappointing, what? Curry was really good with strong coconut milk taste. The baked assorted vegetable with cheese we ordered suppose to come with cauliflower and broccoli and other vege, which it didn't, only potato, eggplant, and carrots. Sad..

Mezes selection with fresh bread.

First, kinda cool to be the first review here. We ended up at Sedef at the suggestion of our hotel manager. It was supposed to be a reliable, comfortable restaurant serving good food and at very fair prices. It proved to be a very accurate description. We were warmly greeted by the host and quickly seated, menus presented. The waiter was a bit of a character, in a good way, with a friendly & professional manner. I mentioned we were there at the recommendation of our hotel, at which point the service got even better. He made various suggestions and proceeded to look after our family of 4 most attentively. Between us, we ordered the local special, Testi, which is a sort of stew cooked in individual casseroles of clay, which are individually cracked apart at the table. Both beef and chicken versions were tasty and have differently prepared sauces. The Manti is a sort of Turkish version of ravioli, stuffed with meat, in a yoghurt based creamy sauce; perfect if you need a pasta fix. The lamb shank offered up stronger lamb flavour than versions found in North America and is served on a bed of rice. The menu has a variety of Turkish fare and even includes pizza and pasta. By the way, we were given free mezes and fantastic freshly baked bread, to start and finishing with baklava and chocolate pudding, again on the house. A terrific meal even without the freebies. Dinner for 4, 1 glass of house wine, a beer and 2 soft drinks came to about 100 TL. Not fine dining, more like your favorite neighborhood spot. Definitely recommended. And oh so close to 5 stars.

Very nice decor and friendly staff. Food was just ok and little pricier than others in the area.

Dibek Traditional Home Cook Restaurant - The first round of food is always Mezza here (small plates of traditional dips & pickles). The creamed dish low-right, is Turkish Ravioli.

Centrally located in Goreme around a lot of popular hotels. Warm, rustic, homey interior. Seating area consists of large tables and you sit on the floor over cushions. Shoes off before stepping into the seating area. Menu si known for homestyle cooking and an iconic dish is their pottery kebab. Meat is slow cooked in a sealed pot for 3 hours. The pot is then brought to the table, cracked open, and the contents poured onto a plate in front of you. Very aromatic, flavorful, and tender. They also make their own wine in house, which is a must try. Red wines are served cooler, though not cold. I also recommend the little little on the middle menu item as it consists of a lot of small shareables, similar to mezze, that you can enjoy along with your meal. Staff is very friendly. They even gave us a tour of the wine cellar which was really neat.

The ground floor was originally used as stables and storage area. The upper levels were the living quarters. Its one year long restoration and redecoration were completed in 2004. Meals are served on round tables on the floor. You can enjoy dishes sitting on cushions around the round table. The most popular dishes are homemade mantı (Turkish ravioli), kurufasulye (dried white beans) and testi kebabı (pottery kebab). Traditional desserts aside and kayısı tatlısı are worth to taste. Dibek Restaurant also serves homemade wine. And it was good.

I have to say, absolutely worth the FIVE STARS. We are here in Cappadocia for Three Days and this…read moreis our first night here. Really wanted a memorable Dinner and found it with the Beef Cheek served with Mashed Potatoes in a Reduction and "The Golden Pot" which is a Porcini Mushroom Risotto in I believe a Parmesan Sauce that did not drown the dish. The Beef Cheek, so tender, broke apart with just your fork. Slow Cooked for 21 hours according to the Owner. The Reduction had a nice hint of Pepper to add something extra. I also found out this Dish has been nominated for a Michelin Star. The Bulgar Wheat Risotto "The Golden Pot" had a nice mild Earthly flavor from the Porcini Mushrooms with that light Cream Sauce was how a this dish should be at every Restaurant. However, no one seems to get it right before dining here. Firm texture, not gummy, definitely not bland and overall just a very satisfying meal. I am not a Food Critic or a Chef nor do I pretend to have Grand Illusions of having ultimate Food Knowledge, but I spent 20 years as a Line Cook and grew up in a Kitchen learning from the best Cook I know, my Grandma, so I know good food and have always had a passion for it.
