The electrician arrived at 7:33 AM and left at 7:52 AM (verified on my cameras). Despite the installation taking less than 30 minutes, I was still invoiced for the full $496. When I questioned the timeframe and cost, the response I received was simply that I had been quoted that amount. To me, this reflects very poor business ethics. A company should stand behind fair pricing and transparent practices--not charge customers nearly three times the cost of the part for less than half an hour of work, with no willingness to explain the discrepancy. I would not recommend this company, as their practices clearly do not put the customer's interests first.

Contacted Carroll Electric to have the following work done at my home:…read more - One quadruple outlet installed in the basement (wiring needed, right next to utility box) - One outlet/receptacle installed for a stove in the basement (wiring needed, right next to utility box) - One quadruple outlet installed in the garage (already wired for a double outlet) Carroll Electric arrived without materials needed after specifically itemizing what we wanted done over the phone. When he arrived, the electrician stated he needed to install a "four prong plug required by code" for the stove, but failed to bring parts when he already knew we wanted one installed. He had his apprentice travel 12 miles to purchase parts. After the job was finished, they had to come back same day because the outlet /receptacle they installed was incorrect and did not fit "four prong plug required by code". They left again to purchase and returned to replace. Two days later, I realized our chest freezer and refrigerator in the basement, plugged into the newly installed outlet, were without electricity. I called Carroll Electric and the electrician said, " Oh I forgot to tell you, per code, the outlets installed in the basement and garage needed to have GFCI breakers since both are unfinished rooms, and if appliances were more than 18-24 months old, their motors may trigger the GFCI breakers and cut power to the appliances. " The electrician failed to mention this prior to installing the GFCI outlets knowing this was a possibility. Appliances in the garage were also shorting out regularly. They also stated they couldn't guarantee this would not continue to happen, and advised we remove GFCI breaker outlets and replace with standard outlets to assure electricity. When the bill arrived,( $1,078.00) I was charged for 8 hours (for a 4 hour job, this included their time to travel for supplies). We were charged for the apprentice AND the electrician! When the bill was disputed, we asked for itemized bill, which I may add, they were not nice about. They changed it to 4 hours, for each electrician AND the apprentice, (8 hours at $80.00 hour at $640.00) plus supplies. The bill was still not itemized for supplies, Final bill $895.00

He didn't call. When I called him a week later he said he couldn't get the parts. I said I could get the pump overnighted. He said well, he could get it but it would cost 75.00$ and it would have to be (expensively) shipped up from Chicago. I asked for the parts he took from my fountain (without asking me), he said he threw them away. Another week goes by and I told him to forget it. I bought the necessary parts for 15.00$ and did it myself so it's not that this was a difficult job. The company and this electrician just could not have cared less about my job and was prepared to overcharge me by a huge amount. If you call them, you will regret it.
