Zero Surge Inc. is a manufacturer of high reliability series mode surge power quality filters. Electrical surges are short bursts of high frequency noise. The best method to suppress surges is to filter the surge.
Traditional surge protectors use components (MOV's) to divert surges to the ground line contaminating data transmission. Unlike MOV's, which only divert voltage rise, Zero Surge technology also suppresses critical current rise which can damage computers, tv displays, audio equipment, fire, and security systems.
Degraded performance, intermittent problems, damaged equipment, and fires can all be attributed to inadequate surge protection. In fact, an ordinary surge protector can be worse than no protection at all.
In business since 1989, Zero Surge's patented products have never experienced a surge failure or fire. They are designed to repeatedly withstand worst case surges and remove EMI/RFI noise disturbances from the power line. Every unit is made in the USA and goes through stringent testing as part of our quality assurance program.
We sell direct to businesses and consumers. You can order from our website or give us a call to place your order. If you have questions, please contact us and one of our technical staff can help you.
History
Established in 1989.
Zero Surge® was incorporated in March 1989 by J. Rudy Harford who already had a long history of inventing circuits in early color tv development. As a designer of computer networks, Mr. Harford was given the challenge of reinventing the surge suppressor. When he examined failed surge suppressors, he found that the basis for the protection was metal oxide varistors (MOVs), inexpensive components which failed in normal service. He began thinking about circuit design alternatives to the unpredictable and failure-prone MOV type. Using computer-aided circuit design, Mr. Harford developed and patented a series-mode surge suppression circuit which protects against worst-case surges, unlike the suppressors on the market which often fail after minor surges.
Today, customers like Wendy's, Aramark, Merck, NASA, the FBI, Georgetown University Hospital, Princeton University, NIST, the U.S. Marine Corps, and thousands more businesses and consumers are realizing the benefits of Zero Surge.
Meet the Business Owner: Jim M.
Jim comes to Zero Surge with 26 years of experience in electronics manufacturing, testing, technical support, and sales. Jim started his career at WR Grace's Technical Ceramics Department researching electronic substrates for Integrated Circuits and then on to Trace Laboratories to test and analyze component materials for the Printed Circuit Board industry. From there he worked in manufacturing where he was the Quality Control Manager for Canfield Technologies and AI Technology (electronic adhesives).
After nine years as the Operations Manager with a start-up online hobby electronics distributor, Jim decided to take on a new challenge when he met Rudy Harford, the Zero Surge company founder. Rudy was ready to retire and needed a successor to keep the standard he set for Zero Surge. Impressed with Zero Surge's products and potential, Jim purchased Zero Surge Inc. in January 2014 and now serves as President.
