Got a one hour deep tissue full body massage in the couples room. We booked in advance via phone, and our room was ready upon arrival. The lobby had mininal decor and a lack of seating, but the setup in the massage room was clean and comfy, with soft instrumental music playing in the background. Staff provided friendly and professional service. And though we forgot to bring cash, we were able to add a tip to our credit card payment, with an extra fee of $2 for the charge. The massage was great. My masseur applied deep pressure the entire time, took care of the knots in my back and shoulders, and brought relief to my arms as well. He also did a thorough job on my legs, especially my calves and shins, again with strong pressure and technique. The massage did not include work on my feet nor head. My boyfriend's masseuse did a decent job too, though he noted that it felt a bit rushed, with no focused attention on any part of the body. Been going here for a while and the massages have only gotten worse, and the staff has only gotten ruder. Not to mention, scamming me and my friend twice. As a teenager, I tip, but I don't always carry cash on me, so I asked the staff to split $12 between the two people as gratuity. They proceeded to tell us a $10 tip was required from both of us. Another time, I came in asking for a 30 minute session, and repeatedly clarified the amount of time. They gave me a 60 minute session, and when I told them I only asked for 30, they proceeded to make me pay the whole price and rudely declared it. One hour deep tissue massage was right on the money today. I came in with mid-back muscular pain, with knots from recent activity, and walked out without the pain. There was just the right amount of pressure, along with focus to release the knotted muscles. This has always been a very clean facility with professional staff. II used to be able to communicate with my masseuse but this one barely spoke any English except "Finish!". New owner doesn't even want to admit it is new ownership. This place is great for a quick fix for a great price! I was having a little low back pain so I decided to walk in and see if they had any availability. They seemed pretty booked up , but they were able to offer me a $30 30 min massage ( credit card price). My massage therapist was Susan. She did an amazing job. She communicated with me where all the pain was before she started. She focused on my pressure points and by the time she was done I can honestly say I had no more lower back pain! This place isn't an extensive spa but they are great! They do offer cheaper pricing for cash, but don't pressure you on how to pay. They also let you put tips on credit cards!!! A typical Chinese massage spot. $45 per hour, decent clean room, calm music, basic lotion, warm wet towels to clean your body after. My masseuse asked if I want deep tissue or mild, my hubby went deep as usual. I went for mild which exactly what I wanted. It was good! We were both snoring half of the hour ;) HA If you want it at this cheap price, don't expect William Burke service, unless you want to pay $200 per hour! So there you have it. I've been coming here at least since 2010 (dating back to when Trader Joe's was next door). I'm surprised by some of the negative reviews. I guess I've been lucky as to never experience any poor treatment of some sort. When either going into a salon, a spa, or service type business, I default to a 20% tip unless the service was horrible. Just because the establishment isn't fancied up with fruit water and a reception staff kissing my butt to upsell me on products, I try never to think a decent tip is above anyone. I have been a massage junky sampling various Bay Area and Napa spas because well...stress, work, and kids. Relaxation is one thing. That's nice and all with a glass of wine afterwards. For that go to Purple Orchid Inn in Livermore. That's another review I need to get to, but I loved that place for maternity massages and facials. If you're trying to get knots out, a stiff neck gone, tendinitis relief, places like Zen Wellness don't mess around. The therapists here put in work to release tension and muscle strain. Equal to their counterparts in chain massage establishments, they are licensed therapists with 600+ hours of professional training and with various disciplines. They vary from a marriage of Eastern and Western practices and Swedish massage. I've had way too many conversations with the folks here. They're not poshy, fancy, or polished. Some therapists may not even prefer the small talk. They're busy using their strength to truly deep massage all whilst checking in to see if the pressure is OK. There are no recent massage therapy graduates here smiling and talking your ear off while you question whether $150 + tip was even worth it. They're not just rubbing lotion or fragrant oil on you. This is not that place. If you're looking for more of a relaxing and less aggressive approach, you can request specific therapists for that kind of technique. The key suggestion here is to ASK and to communicate ahead of time in a respectful manner. Call. I have tried different therapists from here until I found the ones that matched what I needed. I have gone in and waited for my appointment several times seeing people walk-in asking when they can get in the same day. This isn't a nail salon. And, if they fit you in, you're going to get whoever you're going to get and that might be a therapist whose "gentle" is too hard for you still. Side note: My therapist is Shirley. She gives a medium to deep pressure for all over body. I have tendinitis, arthritis and rotator cuff issue. She can get carried away with the elbows in my shoulder blades but I tell her to ease up and she does. I always leave here feeling great. I had made an appointment earlier but when I walked in to get my massage at 5 minutes before my appointment, the receptionist first admitted the man behind me even though he arrived after me and he was a walk-in! This isn't a fancy day spa and it is located in a strip mall. However, if you simply want a firm pressure, deep tissue, 'knot releasing' massage, I would suggest that you give this place a try. I came here via the recommendation of my esthetician and asked for a specific person. Before my session, my esthetician warned me to not expect that I would fall asleep like I always do when I get a facial. She said 'it's very deep and firm, you might even hurt a bit, but you will feel great afterwards'. She is absolutely right. Every tightened knot on my back, shoulder, neck and legs were targeted. She knew where to go, and what to do. While it hurt a bit at some point, it was the good kind of pain. I felt so good and all my muscle pain and joint tension were released. I've been coming here for two years and really thought I had reviewed it already in this area (Dublin/Pleasanton), and I've been to a lot of places around here, it's the best around. like any place, some masseuses are better than others, which is entirely subjective, but there's not much turnover so once you find the one you like you should be able to feel confident they'll be there when you book. there are 3 or 4 foot massage chairs and maybe 10 (?) private rooms. everything feels clean and every person who's treated me has been pleasant and professional. I think the foot massages here are better than the places that only do foot massage I think the prices are totally reasonable. I see some people complaining here but I don't get that. and, like any other place, you can buy packages which really lower the price. read more

She has more of a personalized approach than other therapists I've experienced there and I really feel better in the days after her massage. She is very very firm and in the moment it can hurt, but she knows what she's doing! Her amazing work helps me function in the rest of my life. I asked if I could do the massage in a room because people sitting the chairs were way too chatty too. Although I was in a room I could still hear the front desk arguing (and not in English). The foot massage was a lot of pressure. I asked for less pressure and she would not lessen the pressure because she said I had a "bubble". I get that they do acupressure in their foot massage, but if I ask for less pressure then you should acknowledge that. I wasn't impressed with the decor either. NO NO NO! I'd like to consider myself a massage aficionado. I absolutely love getting massages - both deep tissue and Swedish, full body as well as specific targeted areas and at both posh spas and economical joints. Unfortunately Zen Wellness fails on ALL counts for an "economical joint." I have never come out of a massage so offended and repulsed, quite the contrary of its innate relaxing appeal. The service is awful in every way - an extremely rude front desk receptionist who actually yelled at me for being 15 minutes early to my appointment and an offensively rude and racist masseuse (god I wish I remember her name) who kept commenting about how Asian feet is significantly more attractive than Indian feet and how Indian women remind her of sweating pigs (yes, I am quoting her verbatim and yes, she mentioned all of these and even more ridiculous comments DURING the massage). My obvious exasperation and explicit comment about attaining some silence seemed to have absolutely no effect on her. And I'm definitely aware that this is a no-frills spot with zero regard for ambiance. You clearly don't come here because you want a spa treatment. You come here because you need a freaking good massage. However, even a place that's not graded based on its ambiance should have regard to silence and serenity - basically DO NOT TALK during the massage, both to the client or to other masseuses. Mine was not only spraying me with a barrage of ridiculously racist and offensive comments but she was also chit-chatting beyond audibly on her phone for 30 minutes of the hour long massage! Lastly, I literally felt like I was being rubbed with no regard for technique. Perhaps this was just an awful masseuse and receptionist, but the two friends I went with had similar experiences with their masseuses as well. After a 7 hour drive from LA, I decide to stop by and get some pampering done. The rooms and hallway looks like something you would see in a korean karaoke room. I don't know why they have windows but they do. Thankfully they have curtains but they don't seem thick or very effective in providing privacy in the rooms. The massage was ok. Needless to say, it was absolutely painful. After wiping the tears and taking a few deep breaths after the massage, I felt a little better and the knot felt a little smaller. I always noticed the place when I would stop into Trader Joes next door, but never really thought it would be any good. They pretty much do the whole reflexology foot massage on you for about 45 min or so after a short foot soak. Then you get up and lay down on the massage table for the remainder of the time and they massage your back and neck. That was enough for me to want to go back and have a full body massage. Some tips - wear pants you can fold up to your knees and layer a tank or cami underneath so you can get a good upper body massage. Prices are competitive $50 for a 1 hour full body massage. They also have facial services (collegen, microdermabrasion, etc) starting at $48. read more
