The drinks are pretty good. Good lunch specials too! Though I took one star off because I didn't like their chicken tenders.

Aesthetic pile of shaved ice, comes with one or two toppings and a drizzle depending on your size choice. 4/5 average value Service: 3/5. Not too important since it's not a fancy restaurant. However, the last time we went, it was cash only, and they had limited change in the register. You fill out a sheet with your shaved ice order and bring it to the front. Ambiance: 3/5. Not too crazy, there's a long bench in the middle and more tables on either side. Standard noise levels

It's always soooo dirty whenever we come. We brought family and it was just so gross. Everyone was using some spray cleaner we found on the counter to clean their own tables, and sometimes I don't want to be doing that when I come get dessert. Why are we cleaning and scrubbing down our seats before we sit??? Please Nu owners if you're reading this- I don't want the tables to be sticky anymore your desserts are so good but it's getting to the point where I want to go somewhere else because the inside is just sooooo dirty. Please!!! Maybe just start using disposable bowls for your dine in desserts as well? It's cleaner, and we don't have to stack dirty plates in a tub over the trash can. Idk just my thought process but still love the dessert.

Food: 4.5/5 Service: 4/5…read moreAmbiance: 2/5 Overall: 4.2 My group got the fresh fruit shaved ice with strawberry ice cream and coconut pudding. The shaved ice itself was really nice and fluffy, with the condensed milk topping being VERY sweet yet not overpowering. The fruit toppings we got, for the most part, were good. The pineapple and cantaloupe were both okay, though I think they both could've been fresher, but the strawberry and mango were both really good and complemented the shaved ice. I also really enjoyed the strawberry ice cream on top. I was a bit skeptical at first, but it added another dimension to the dish. The coconut pudding, though, was quite disappointing, not tasting like much and overall just feeling like a random and unnecessary addition to the otherwise really good dessert. The ambiance here was the main issue. It is a little bit barebones and not very decorated, but that didn't bother me. What did though was the piercing high pitched noise of the electronics, which made it really hard for me to focus, and the flashing lights, which just made me feel really disoriented. Still, this place is a hidden gem in the Dun Huang Plaza compared to everything else around it, and is definitely worth a try!

If you're a HOG (Houston Original Gangsta), you know Star Snow is one of OG places in Chinatown off…read moreBellaire, previously known for boba, and now it's got awesome food as well. It still has that "hole in the wall" vibe, and it's a pretty small footprint though they somehow pack a ton of 2 seaters and 4 seater tables in there so there's actually a decent amount of seats. Lots of takeout business too. Now I hadn't been in a while, and for my recent visit, they had installed large electronic kiosks so you can order and pay without any human interaction. They also bring your food to you (I remember going to a counter to pick it up). Star Snow has gotten fancy! And the prices have definitely gone up but it's still relatively affordable. Now, you're probably thinking "blah blah blah what about the actual food?" Well, it's great. Delicious. The beef noodle soup is one of best you'll ever have (comparable to Noodle Kitchen in Spring, TX and Shang's in Las Vegas), and the fried tofu appetizer is spectacular. Warning: it comes out HOT so give it a minute unless you enjoy burning the inside of your mouth. I loved every bite of both dishes and I would order them again. And again. And again. So what are the downsides? Again, if you're a HOG, you know - it's the Dun Huang center parking. So packed. The center has so much good food and drink options. Just bite the bullet and head towards the garage and park on the roof. That's what I did because I had no choice on a Saturday for lunch. And once you're done, don't head back towards Bellaire (it will take you 10 min just to leave the lot). Sneak out onto the Beltway feeder. That's my pro tip for ya. Lastly, I'm not sure exactly how long this location has been open, but I know it's at least 18 years based on the oldest Yelp Review. When a restaurant survives for that long in the Dun Huang center, you know it's legit.

Perfectly ok to take to go and reheat (except the squid, it gets tough). Smoothies are great, with modifiable sugar and ice content. Complimentary hot tea is available. Value: 5/5. Portions are very nice, while still being finishable. All the food and drink pictures came out to about $30 total. Ambiance: 3/5, not very important since it's a simple, quick sit down place to eat. Average noise level. Parking: 4/5 dependent on what day and time of day you go. It's in dun Huang plaza so there's a big lot, but you're going to be scrambling for a spot if you try coming on a weekend evening due to the overall business of this area. Service: 4/5. They are fast. No waiters/waitresses, you go up to the counter to get your drink, and a busser will typically bring your food. Fast is all that matters.

Plenty of customization options from Chocolate, Coconut, Coffee, Durian, Green Tea, Mango, Red Velvet, Strawberry, Taro, Thai tea, and cheesecake variants! With much more topping and syrup addons. My group got the Strawberry Cheesecake with Condensed milk, mochi, and graham cracker crumbles on top and loved it. The texture of the shaved ice felt great, very solid if you enjoy a thicker shaved ice treat. Pandan Waffle I haven't had one in years and I loved it. It's not overpowering and at the end of a day, still a waffle but it's great. Now combine a Pandan Waffle and the shaved ice? Oh man even better! Something a bit more unique about this place is they offer Halo Halo (A Filipino cold dessert) and of course Che (A Vietnamese cold dessert). Of course, being in Chinatown they have quite the competition with every block competing against each other Overall I would recommend Bambu for their dessert and drink options. Plenty of options to choose from from your classic milk teas, to blended coffees, smoothies, cold desserts, and shaved ice.

On April 30th, I celebrated National Boba Tea Day at GoGo Ice. The reason I chose this restaurant…read morewas because they offer affordable drinks and the delicious texture of the boba tea. The drink is consisted slushy ice instead of just ice cubes. So, every drop of this cup can be consumed at once, without any waste. The sweetness can be adjusted to zero sugar and still taste great. The boba, aka tapioca balls, are phenomenal. It's included in the drink price $5.00, tax included. Where can you find a boba tea at this price in Houston Chinatown? The employees are always friendly and helpful. They are bilingual in English and Spanish. I could even find Mexican candies on the shelves. Just look at the menu and order by the number. It comes right up. I believe they kept the prices down was because they don't accept credit card, cash or Zelle only.

I took off because they chose not to have a card reader and only take cash or zelle. So again the lack of a card reader is why they got 1 star off. The drinks was $5 each they dont charge extra for the tapioca. Because of the simple ingredients and no extra syrup or fruit it was just ok 7/10.
