Men (and women), I served 20 years active duty in our United States Air Force and another 10 years as a contractor/civilian so please pay attention if your wife is a cosmetologist and considering working for Jessica Alban, the owner of Zen hair salon. My word is true. My wife hired on at Zen based on Jessica Alban's tales of all the customers she was having to turn away due to not enough stylists. WRONG! Once Jessica's family and friends were served, there was no more business for my wife so she had to move on. Unfortunately for both Tina and I, Tina signed a booth rental agreement for Jessica for a year, but only after Jessica stated "Just sign it, If you don't want to be here, I don't want you here". That obviously was not true. Jessica took my wife to small claims court but due to all the covid issues, my wife missed the court date. Tina now has a $6200 judgement against her for booth rent. There was a lien placed on my house, my income taxes were intercepted and Jessica has tried to garnish my wife's meager wages, all through her lawyer, a Mr.Nicolas J. Spigiel. WHO DOES THIS to a fellow stylist?? Today, 14 June 2021, I was able to remedy/remove the lien on my house, however, for the foreseeable future, I will have to submit a Request for Income Information to the Michigan Department of Treasury whenever I file my income taxes and that delays my refund for up to four months. I lose sleep over this. I retired early due to medical reasons and live on my slim USAF, MSgt retirement pay so income tax return money matters to me. It's really, really unfair. I have a bachelors degree in Business Administration and Technical Studies and I can certainly say, this is a bad way to do business, in my humble opinion. Don't go to this salon. read more

Got a gift certificate for Zen spa for Christmas! What a great gift . This place is great . The staff is friendly and super nice . I booked to have my lashes filled by Brooke, who was very nice and did a great job on my lashes . They look amazing . Very real! Not fake looking. She is very gentle. I couldn't believe how real they look . No one can believe they are extensions because they look so real. I highly recommend her. Then she did my mani /pedi. Did a great job. Recommended great colors for me ... had great conversation . She is very funny . It was great to not have to sit there and be on my phone ... just relax and talk about adult stuff . Jessica the owner is also very nice and was also running around chatting and helping everyone. What a great couple hours spent at the spa with some great people. Wasn't a "stuffy" place . Extremely down to earth . They made me feel at home . I was dressed in athletic gear and felt very comfortable. First time I felt like I didn't have to dress up to go to a spa. It was cool to sit there and I didn't feel like I was being judged by other people there . Absolutely love this place and the people that work here. Wish I could name them all. Have already booked to have a lash fill and to get my hair done. Pretty sure I am going to make this "my new place." Thanks Zen! Sam does such a great job, she is the balayage master! I love that balayage is the color service that makes your hair look like you just got it done no matter how long its been. I'm a mom and don't have time for touching up highlight roots every few weeks. Balayage is SO worth the price, I go every 4 weeks for a haircut to stimulate growth and color every other visit or so and my hair is the healthiest its been in a very long time. Did I mention I also get my eyebrows waxed while washing my hair, now that is as easy as it gets. My brows have the best shape now and I love that Sam doesn't take all day to do my hair. I have spent 4+ hours in salons before, sheesh make me yawn! Quick and quality hair stylist Sam is your girl! I've even had her do my nails and they were great too. I'm looking forward to booking a massage with Jessica, brow tinting with Brooke and maybe some waxing! All the girls are so friendly and nice. I have been going to Zen Salon and Spa for my hair services for quite some time but I was recommended by the stylist to try an eyebrow tint and a Brazilian bikini wax with Brooke. It's stunning what an eyebrow tint can do for your facial features, it seems pointless but it is SO worth it! I used to get Brazilian bikini waxes at the Soaring Eagle Salon and Spa so my expectations were pretty high as the service was really great there but I no longer live in that area. I had a terrible experience at a different Portage spa and never even attempted to go anywhere else until now. My first visit was great despite it being so long since I'd had this service. This was my second visit and I was very impressed to see the results in between waxes. Seriously all of the women who work here are amazing! My favorite place for hair, lashes, nails, and massages! I have been going here for almost a year and I also drive almost a hour to get here. I wouldn't change it for anything! Always welcoming my infant daughter to come and play while I get my hair done or my lashes done! I couldn't ask for a better group of women to spend a day with! I consistently get my hair cut and colored by Marissa P., who does a wonderful job and knows how to give you a great look even if you're bad at explaining what you're looking for. I recently had my nails done here as well and the time Marissa spent making sure that it was not only a great experience, but also very relaxing, was really amazing.
