Hands down, the best chicken katsu curry ever! The chicken was moist, lightly breaded, and just perfect. The curry sauce was delicious too. I ordered a spice level of 3, which was a little too spicy for me, so next time I'll go with a 2. I can't wait to come back

I believe this is the latest Zen Curry, and it's my favorite location. The service is always quick and friendly. Less crowded and busy than the Spring Mountain location. Area is clean and spacious. Food always comes out quick.. we never have to wait for a table-

Joe U.

Everything looks the part, almost smells the part, but the Tonkatsu and Chicken Katsu was overcooked, again. The service is great, and the restaurant overall is clean. I wouldn't recommend this location because it's not on par to the one in Chinatown.

Dear Zen Management My family and I have been loyal Zen customers since 2009. We usually went to the Spring Mountain location and started visiting Tropicana more often when it opened because it's closer to our home. Today, we had a party of four and ordered four plates and appetizers. As we normally do with curry, we asked for a small portion of raku (onion pickle) In the past, this was always complimentary. On our check today, we were charged $1.50 for it without being told in advance. My concern is not the amount, but the lack of communication from lady server . If there is a new policy, it should be clearly explained to the customer. Because of this experience, I've decided not to return to the Tropicana location, which is very disappointing after so many years of loyalty.

FLA-VOR-FUL. Limited parking in shared lot. Quaint inside. Try the chicken karage, honey bread and any of their curries. Service was good, a must try!

Jaynar S.

Super friendly service from their team! I got the Chicken Katsu Curry level 3 which was just enough spice. Unfortunately the chicken was way overcooked and tough. The Shoyu Ramen was good. The interior is cutely decorated a d inviting.

chicken curry - regular, miso soup, gyoza tonight

Zen Curry West has been one of my favorite spots for years. The curry is consistently delicious and always hits the spot. We also had the miso soup and gyoza this evening, and both were excellent. What keeps me coming back is the warm service and being met with friendly smiles each time. Carrie and Bex were so accommodating and lovely tonight, They're kind, attentive, and genuine, and I'm glad I came back tonight! Good luck Bex, and congrats on your second day working here! Thank you for another wonderful meal and experience! Kindly, Gen

I come here all the time. The food is great and the staff are always so kind. Usually it's never too busy and the food doesn't take long. I typically get a small chicken katsu curry with white rice.

Rewina T.

Open spacing and very cute decor in the store. The booth seat were comfortable and service was really quick. Food was even quicker as well, they offer mostly curry but also have some sides like sushi rolls and ramen. And now they offer a Japanese style breakfast from 9-1pm I believe, I went too late in the day to try it but it did look good. I ordered my usual curry of beef with white rice and lvl 8 spice. It holds a kick but not enough to make me cry! a 10/10 as usual!

Peace L.

We had a satisfactory experience dining here being our first time. While our orders were good but the service could be improved.

Alexa A.

Amazing as always! Staff is always friendly and the food comes out fast and hot! Definitely my go too Japanese curry place!

Never like Japanese curry. But this time I have changed my opinion. I had the curry ramen and it was delicious. The curry was added quite a bit of sweetness and it worked really well with the spiciness. Japanese curry usually doesn't have much kick nor aroma but this added a lot of flavor, also Japanese spicy ramen usually is simply spicy (even spicy curry ramen), it would have been so spicy that I would sweat but it was still just spicy. The chicken Katsu was over fried, would have been better with pork katsu.

Create Your Own Curry: large, with brown rice, spice level 5, and tofu katsu, for $17.70 from the dine-in menu

Ken M.

Create Your Own Curry: large, with brown rice, spice level 5, and tofu katsu, was $17.70 from the dine-in menu. It was prepared with no vegetables, but could be added for an additional $3.50 ($21.20 total). The tofu katsu was good, but I could have eaten more, which is available for an additional $4.00 ($25.20). So, when you really get down to it, their pricing is expensive. Vegetables should be automatic, not an extra fee. This penalizes, rather than encourages, vegetable consumption from their menu. The curry is served with a surprising amount of sauce, which I think would be an extra amount for an additional price. I would rather have a regular amount of sauce with mushrooms or vegetables added to it with no extra price. I asked if the Spicy Miso Ramen was made with vegan broth, but our server didn't know the answer, and a manager wasn't available to get that information from. For dessert, we had sorbet, for $4 each. It was served in the plastic container, which we had to open ourselves. I could just go to the store, purchase that myself, and eat it at home. It doesn't make sense for a restaurant to serve a packaged food item directly from the store shelf. The food itself is very good. They are generous with the curry sauce. The dine-in service was great. The restaurant is casual, but lacks elegant decor to help justify the high pricing.

My favourite curry place is now closer to home! The curry is great as usual and they have more menu options compared to their spring mountain location which we will definitely be back to try in the future. The restaurant is located on a quiet side of town and the inside is clean and spacious. Our server was also great! We will definitely be coming back for the best curry rice in town. read more

Came here early in the morning, and the service was amazing. The waitress was super sweet and attentive, also giving me a chance to try their new drinks. Gave me some freebies too like stickers haha. The food came out fast and it tasted amazing as well, I finished the whole plate quickly. The ambiance is very casual and more of a fast dining restaurant. Would go here again! We were very pleased to find a Japanese Curry place near us. Not only that, their offerings are authentic! We ordered online for carry-out. Smooth process and wait time was minimal. Basically, you select your size (S, M, L), pick your rice preference (White, Brown), select your heat level, and then your protein. Over a dozen choices are listed for the protein, from chicken katsu to Spam, and even veg offerings like spinach/egg, tofu, etc. The items in our Order were carefully packed. Generous amounts of the curry sauces packed separately so as to not sog out the rice or the protein. I got the beef-pork meatloaf which was quite a big portion! My wife ordered the pork katsu. Both were delicious. You can also order toppings, like cheese, corn, fried egg, etc. to amp up the experience. They also have quite an assortment of appetizers which we must try another time, like gyoza, shumai, curry pan, baked mussels, and more. When I went inside to pick up the Order, I found the place to be clean, and the staff to be pleasant and eager to make sure the customer got what they wanted. The dine-in area also looked great. Ample wait staff, clean tables and not noisy. Happy to find this so close to home!! read more

The place opened up right next to my neighborhood. It's in a quiet area, so it's not too busy. The atmosphere is very relaxed. It's also easier to find parking here than the original location (spring mountain). The food is just as good, if not better than the original location. They have a unique menu specific to this location, alongside the normal menu. The unique menu genuinely tastes great! It includes ramen, curry fries, vegetable soup, and more. Specialties

Zen Curry is a cherished local favorite, born from Mr. Zenbayashi’s dream of owning a restaurant, which he started at age 60. What began as a humble 18-seat spot in Las Vegas' Chinatown in 2012 has expanded to several locations, including our newest on West Tropicana. Our success is built on exceptional flavors and top-notch service. What sets Zen Curry apart? It’s our commitment to creating an unforgettable curry experience. We use a special recipe developed by Mr. Zen’s wife, blending over ten spices with fresh vegetables and fruits to craft a rich, aromatic broth made fresh daily. Each spice offers health benefits, from boosting warmth and cell turnover to providing antioxidants. Our diverse menu caters to all tastes, from mild to spicy. At Zen Curry, we don’t just serve food; we deliver an experience filled with flavor and warmth. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to Japanese curry, we’re excited to welcome you and share our passion for great food. Discover why Zen Curry is more than just a meal—it’s a beloved local tradition.

We ordered both the regular and thick-cut pork katsu sets to compare, along with oysters, a seafood mix, jumbo scallops, mushrooms, and Kumidashi cold tofu. My favorite was the scallops. Everything except the tofu was fried, and WOW! The katsu here is unlike what I've had elsewhere. Perfectly crispy, clean-tasting, not greasy, moist on the inside, and seasoned just right. I also enjoyed the ritual of grinding sesame seeds to mix into my katsu sauce. The iced green tea was wonderfully refreshing, and refills were included--a nice bonus! With calming music playing in the background, it honestly felt like we were in a spa about to get a massage--so much so that it felt like we couldn't make any noise. lol. The omurice also wasn't very exciting in terms of flavor. Overall, Kare is a clean, peaceful spot with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly service. Japanese curry cravings? Say less…read more We came in past 11:40 AM on a Monday, and the moment we walked in, the ambiance was already giving "Welcome to Japan" vibes. The restaurant offers a variety of Katsu meals and Japanese curry, so naturally... we had to order TWO meals because apparently one person cannot be trusted around good food. We got the Hire Curry and Hire Katsu, and both were delicious! The breading on the hire was chef's kiss -- crispy, light, and perfectly done. But let me talk about that curry sauce. It was rich, flavorful, and seriously giving authentic Japanese curry vibes. I would honestly come back just for the curry sauce! The staff were super friendly, the restaurant was really clean, and there's plenty of parking, which is always a bonus because nobody wants their first adventure to be a parking-lot survival challenge. The lady was so quick to seat us, probably because we were among the first customers of the day. Monday morning VIP treatment! Overall, we absolutely enjoyed our meal and would 100% come back the next time we're in Vegas. Thank you for opening your doors and sharing your cooking with us! Definitely worth a visit if you're craving some good Japanese Katsu and curry!

I was a bit disappointed with how empty the restaurant was honestly. Our initial waitress was friendly and personable. She initially seated up and took our orders. But there must have been a shift change because a different waitress took over. We thought the first one had left, but eventually did see she was still present. * Pork Rosu Katsu & Soba Combo $25.99 - We got two orders of this and it was just okay. When you order the combo, you don't get the rice or soup. The Little Gal ate the soba and I ate the katsu. It was okay, but just okay. They do give you sesame seeds to grind yourself like other katsu places in town. The Little Guy ate his dish and was fine with it. I did notice that my dish was missing something compared to my son's. I pointed out the missing potato croquette and they had to get me a new one. * Wagyu Katsu (new item) - The Husband had initially planned on ordering the Menchi Katsu but they were offering this new item instead to replace it. He thought it was only okay. They don't do refills on the salad or anything unfortunately. It's really hard to get the servers' attention as they are behind the counter and it appears to be blocked. (Unless they can see us, but we can't see them. Either way, we can't see if anyone is available.). No one noticed that I kept turning around and waiting for assistance when we needed more sauce, the check, etc. This was super frustrating considering there was were only two parties dining the whole time we there. Overall, the whole experience was underwhelming. The food and service were only okay. We ended up going to another Japanese restaurant after for more bites and dessert, and just a better experience overall to close out our evening.

Intimate Culinary Excellence! I recently reserved nearly every table at Zen Curry for a party of 27, and it turned out to be an intimate culinary affair. While the space may not be designed for large gatherings, the accommodating staff worked their magic to ensure our experience was nothing short of fantastic. Now, onto the food - the Thai tea was a heavenly start, setting the tone for a delightful evening. The spice level in the dishes was just right, and the curry, along with the udon noodles, showcased the restaurant's commitment to exquisite flavors. Despite the cozy space, Zen Curry's staff managed to make our intimate gathering feel special. Kudos to the team for their flexibility and dedication to creating a memorable dining experience. If you're seeking a charming and flavorful meal, Zen Curry is the place to be! Highly recommended for smaller groups seeking culinary excellence. read more

TL DR: I highly recommend this restaurant. Great food, great service, close to me. I love Zen Curry. I believe this is their second(?) location. This location is much closer to me so it makes it much more convenient to eat here. The food is always top notch. I highly recommend the chicken or port katsu curry. Their honey toast is also a very good dessert that is a huge portion, that is more than enough to share. The service is always very stellar. I feel like the service is personal, rather than corporate (like some restaurants). They also offer takeout and are on Uber Eats. Their menu says "alcohol coming soon" likely because of a pending liquor license, if that matters to you. Overall, highly recommend, great restaurant. I'm shocked its not more popular yet. read more

Zen Curry Restaurant has consistently delivered delicious meals, but the Spring Mountain location stands out as the best among them all. There's something distinctly different and special about the taste at this branch that keeps me coming back. The curries are known for their spiciness, and even level 0 packs a punch. I just witnessed this elderly couple waiting outside the locked restaurant since 11am and when the Noodle House employee finally got to the door to unlock it, she just ran right in without greeting the couple or even holding the door open. Cmon. I already don't dine here anymore because the quality of food has gone down but you need to schedule your employees to come in AT LEAST 15 min before opening to prep and teach them about customer service. This place has gone downhill since ownership changed and the service is just so slow because they only have one server for the whole place most days.

Yu or Mi Sushi was very accommodating in her selection of rolls accompanied by gluten free soy sauce. She had a spicy California roll & the avocado eel roll and she said it was delicious. They also offer gluten free fried rice that's not displayed on the menu but is available if you ask for it. They used to not have gluten free fried rice, but now they offer it & I love that bcuz it can be very hard to find good food that works with her allergies. I had the THE LEAN MACHINE ROLL (cucumber wrapped, spicy tuna, kaiware, topped with fresh tuna, salmon, madai, yellowtail, ikura, ginger soy vinaigrette) & it was amazingly tasty, didn't have any rice and was a great protein packed dish for $28. I paired that with the SURF & TURF ROLL (spicy blue crab, avocado, cucumber, topped with seared tenderloin steak, truffle soy, yuzu vinaigrette, grilled onion, sesame seeds) & wow was that an explosion of delicious flavors for $38. We enjoyed sake as well & for only $38 for the 750ml bottle, you can't beat it. It was smooth & refreshing. The service was kind, polite & very hospitable from the waiter and waitress who helped us with everything to the manager, Melissa. I cannot remember the exact sake we enjoyed, but just ask for the refreshing one and Melissa will know. The ambiance at the restaurant was calm and relaxing & the music is curated by Durango casino & is always upbeat. I hope this restaurant stays bcuz it was an amazing experience & we will be back.

I love sushi. I got the all you can eat sushi so I could eat sushi. After a funky tuna roll, I had…read moreto order everything but sushi. Let's discuss. I started with nigiri. I got salmon, yellowtail and eel. All were perfectly fine. The rice was fine. They weren't fishy. They weren't amazing. They were fine. So far so good. I ordered tochi, which was the fried jalapeno. Oh I love this! And then I got it. Theirs is not stuffed with spicy tuna. Theirs is stuffed with crab. The problem is that you can't taste the crab because it's overpowered by the jalapeno. It was ok. I wouldn't get it again. The mushrooms were good. These had the same ingredients as the jalapeno, but here it worked because the mushrooms are mild. I would recommend these. Then came the spicy tuna. The tuna was excellent. I see pictures of the spicy tuna sushi and it has cucumber in it. I did not get cucumber. Mine was a hard wedge that was bitter. I'm pretty sure it was daikon. It was ok. Cucumber would have been better. The issue came with the rice. It was severely overcooked and rubbery. It stretched and it was nasty. I ate a few with it and the rubbery mush made me gag. I tried doctoring it up by putting lots of wasabi and ginger on it. I even put some pepper flakes from my edamame on it. The texture just was so yucky though. I ended up peeling off the rubber rice and putting it in my napkin. This roll was a 4/10. The tuna was so good though. That was it's only saving grace. After choking down this roll, there was no way I was ordering another sushi roll and risking getting horrid rice. No thanks. I ordered some miso soup, which tasted like a chicken broth and it was so good. I ordered spicy edamame, which was the star of the show. It's sad that was the star. I'm not going to come back for edamame. It was really good though. I got green tea mochi. That was lovely. My server was attentive and friendly. She got me extra napkins and was checking on me quite a bit. I ate at the bar where they had a stockpile of little containers with ginger and wasabi. One of the workers sat the large container of ginger on the floor and was filling small plastic to-go containers from there. I was thinking why on the floor, and how many small containers do you need? There were already so many. AYCE anytime was $28. I gave $40 to cover that and the tip. I just drank water. I can't get around the fact that I don't feel good about ordering sushi here. That's the main attraction. I can't justify coming back.
