When they saw my adult dog was shy/reluctant, they invited me to walk back to the groomers, who understood all my requests.,when she was returned to me (10 minutes), they said she was very cooperative. I've tried but cant trim her nails easily at home, even with my dremel. I think ill bring her to Zen instead. For such a small matter, no appointment was needed. Reckless and Borderline Animal Abuse I brought my cat, Salem (long haired fluffy domestic black cat), to Zen animals yesterday to have him groomed and sort out some mats in his fur. I mentioned on the phone while making the appointment that he had some serious matting behind his ear and on his lower back towards the tail but didn't need his nails touched. When I got to the location I showed Thiago, the groomer, where the matting was and explained how I just need the matts sorted even if he needs to shave them. I also said to both the groomer and receptionist, Monica, that he didn't need the nails touched. When I came to pick up Salem, he was COMPLETELY shaved down, which is not what I asked. I was so in shock at what Salem looked like. Monica explained that the shaving was necessary or else the matting wouldn't be able to come out. However, the owner of the location, Gabriella, texted me that a shedding remedy added on to the package could've been able to remove them. I was not informed of this obviously until after the fact and it was TOO LATE. Had they been more clear about their packages and how they deal with matting this could have been avoided. When I got home, Salem stumbled out of the carrier and started bumping into things. I picked him up and noticed he was bleeding from his nipples and so was his paw. He ran under the bed and refused to come out until the next day. He's normally a really friendly energetic cat and loves to be around people so that was incredibly odd. This morning I noticed he kept bumping into things and even knocked a vase over. Salem has never had any issues like this and never knocks anything over he's far more aware of his surroundings. Turns out they TRIMMED HIS WHISKERS!! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO A CAT??? Whiskers are necessary to a cat's understanding of their surrounding and Salem's had been CHOPPED OFF! I got a chance to look at his nails and saw they were cut down so much, nearly to the skin! My poor cat was literally traumatized at this groomer. They also didn't put his collars back on so I was stuck trying to coordinate with the owner of the location on how to retrieve them. Gabriella messaged me that someone was going to drop them off to me at home. The individual that was supposed to drop off the collars had come unannounced so I wasn't even home to collect them. There was a huge miscommunication in regards to the services I needed for my cat and in regards to receiving Salem's collars. I asked for a refund and the collars. Apparently the groomer, Thiago, is an independent contractor and Gabriella said 50% of the price went to him and 50% to her, which she offered me. She would have to ask him if he would be willing to refund me. He also lied to her and said he never touched Salem's face but (as you can see in the photos) clearly that was a lie because HIS WHISKERS WERE TRIMMED!!!!! I was also offered 50% off my next service but based on this experience I would really never come back here. MY CAT IS TRAUMATIZED!!! I've only given 2 stars because Gabriella was very communicative and made an attempt to really make things right with me as a customer, offering to drop the collars and refund me her portion of the commission. I would 100% recommend that she stop using reckless independent contractors and have a permanent groomer on site. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE! If I could give them -0 I would. All I asked was for a rounded cut and color. What I got was.....absolutely disturbing!!!! They chopped the base of her tail up. They dye job is horrible and she's staining everything in my house. Her tail is stiff and dryer out....feels like a $2 synthetic wig that's seen better days. I'm livid!!! Then instead of a refund I was told I would get a 40% discount...as if that would fix this monstrosity of a grooming. My dog went in looking cute and fluffy....then came looking like crackhead. Zen Animals is nothing short of professional and a business that really cares about your pet. My dogs always come out smelling heavenly(we've been to a lot of dog grooming/bath places this is the best smelling they come out)! My brother also started to take his golden retriever here for baths as they do a fantastic job. The nail trim, sanitary shave and everything else the bath comes with is PERFECT! Gabriella the owner ensures clients are happy and sends them a text after the appointment. I really appreciated that level of professionalism and attractiveness to clients. My dogs always comes back happy and they love the play-time they are provided by interacting with other dogs. Many places are small this place is HUGE so your dog won't be crammed inside a small room or cage while waiting. They call me when my dog is ready and are great at giving me enough time to get them! I would ignore the negativity of other reviews as I have taken my dogs here many times and I have never had a single problem. Take into account my dogs are elderly and also have medical issues and they've always been treated top of the line. This was my second time having my chocolate lab Belle washed and groomed here and both were EXCELLENT. The groomers were very gentle and yet thorough with her, understanding her needs as she is no longer a puppy but a beautiful, mature lady. I love that they use natural products on her and she feels and smells absolutely great. Although I have always tried to feed my dog the highest quality food possible and taken care of her in the best ways I could, I haven't really taken her to that many grooming places before. Now I really see the advantages with things like ear cleaning etc. which I wouldn't necessarily do at home. Really cannot recommend more highly. We'll be back very soon! read more

WILL NEVER SEND MY DOG THERE AGAIN!!!!! My dog is half German Shepherd and half Siberian Husky. During my dog's 5 days of boarding, someone trimmed her double coat without my permission. I don't know if it was because of her excessive shedding or because she got dirty due to her having diarrhea during her stay. Gabriella, the owner, took no responsibility. She just kept saying my dog was never taken into the grooming area. Gabriella should ask herself WHY would I say that my dog was trimmed? I didn't ask for a refund. I did not threaten to sue. ALSO, I didn't realize my dog wasn't barking until we got home. She ended up having kennel cough and has since recovered. Someone should have notified me about it upon pick up. I told GABRIELLA my dog was taken to the vet. I have the texts to prove it! What I didn't say in my previous review was that the week prior to boarding at Zen I had my dog groomed so that I could check out the place and the staff before leaving my dog with them. I chose the bath package WITHOUT trimming. All went well. BUT while there for boarding someone definitely trimmed my dog's double coat. Also, during grooming, they did not put back on my dog's SERESTYO ($75) flea collar. They didn't even return it while we boarded there. Then Gabriella texted me a pic of 3 flea collars to see if one belonged to me. I saw that one was mine but decided NOT to pick it up in case of further contamination. AGAIN.. I have the texts to prove I AM TELLING THE TRUTH! I did not ask for a refund. I want NOTHING to do with this place again! Gabriella should take responsibility. KEEP READING THE REVIEWS BEYOND PAGE 1. I'm not sure if there's a disconnect when it comes providing instructions to the individuals at the front desk and them properly being explained to the groomer. This is the second time bringing my dog to this business and I must say I was very displeased with the service. When I arrived I instructed the young lady checking in the dogs to only TRIM my pup because she didn't need a full cut. She was only matted on her ears and on her belly and they told me they'd need to shave that with the razor but that the rest would be done with a scissor. With the weather being rather cold out, having the extra fur for such a small pup (she's a Shorkie) is necessary so I didn't want her fur too short. Nonetheless, I dropped her off at 12:15 for her appointment. I waited until about 5:30pm to give them a call and they told me she'd be ready in 5 minutes. When I arrived she came out and I almost didn't recognize her as they shaved ALL her fur down. I was visibly upset and when I asked the young lady why they shaved her down she went over to ask the groomer whom Im assuming just came up the answer on the spot to tell me that my pup was matted and needed to be shaved down. I was not happy with their neglect to fulfill what I asked for and to make it worse, now my pup spends her day balled up in her bed shivering because she's cold. She doesn't want to even play! First off let me make this clear, THEY GAVE ME BACK THE WRONG DOG. I had my dog for a month and never seen him with out a haircut and his hair was getting pretty long so I decided to take him to Zen Animals to support local business. The drop off was smooth. My husband picked up the dog and when he bought him in the house I was napping. I notice the dog is sleeping next to me but my dog knows my room is off limits, so I told him to get down. My dog is 1yrs old so he jumps down without a problem. This dog stood at the edge and cried, so I put him down. When I picked him up I noticed his private area was way larger than my dog because my dog is a puppy. My dog usually hangs with my oldest so I told her to call him and he acted as if he didn't know her. I called my husband and told him this is not our dog and he figured because he has a haircut he looks different. I refused to believe so he came home and I told him to check his teeth and he did. He knew immediately this wasn't our dog. Our dog doesn't have all his teeth yet and this dog had all of its teeth. I immediately called the owner and she answered after 4x's! She apologized and sent a picture of the yorkie they had at the place and I said yes that is my dog. My husband took the other dog back and the lady at the front desk had an attitude like we did something wrong. Rolling her eyes and all. To make matters worst when I got my dog back the haircut was horrific! Horrible! I called the owner apologized again and again saying she is a single mother. When it comes to business personal excuses has nothing to do with business. I paid $95 for a haircut plus a $5 tip for a dog switch up and bad customer service. The owner agreed to give me a full refund plus to fix the hair cut for free but No thanks I will collect my refund and take him somewhere more professional and talented. So I show up Thursday at 8:00am just for my refund and the girl at the front desk has no clue what I was talking about. She got I. Contact with the owner and she said she has no cash in the register for me to come back later. Are you freaking kidding me? What makes matters worst in that the owner of the other dog has no clue her dog was at someone else's house. read more
