This is a BBQ that you plan your trip around, every time I am in the area for work I make sure to schedule my entire trip around having time to stop in for some great Texas BBQ.

Bean Bowl

Brisket is solid, burnt ends available and didn't disappoint. Fat was well rendered I just would have liked a little more smoke. Ribs were good with a nice little tug and nice and tender. Now the Bean Bowl was greater than the sum of its parts and should not be missed. Friendly service and atmosphere couldn't have been better, I only regret I never got to meet Zeke. He was good looking fella! Perfect road trip stop for lunch or dinner.

Stopped during me & my honey's weekend motorcycle ride together. We had a cowboy sandwich which is pulled pork, sausage, brisket, Cole slaw & free smoked pinto beans and onions and pickles for your sandwich. Its a small whole in the wall in a small town but so good.

Zekes BBQ may be the best place to eat within a 50 mile radius. The meats were cooked perfectly. The sampler platter of brisket, ribs, sausage and pulled pork is perfection on a plate. The sauces (hot, regular and house) were a nice accompanying taste but not needed because the meats were so tasty on their own. The sides were excellent. The fries had a seasoning and I dipped them in the house sauce. Mmmmm. The Cole slaw was chopped and not dripping....just the way I like it. The potato salad was different in texture but very good....or so my wife says....she ate it all before I could get a bite! To me all bbq meals should be capped off with banana pudding and this meal was! Worth the 25 mile trip and I will now make this a regular stop!

Zeke's Sampler and as always free beans for dine in.

Thank you Zeke's BBQ for another amazing meal!! The Zekes sampler is always a must have and the fish today was so juicy and fresh with a crunchy batter it was a perfect end to the long week!! As always we left happy, full and so satisfied with the food and the cost!!

If you're passing through Windthorst, Zekes is definitely worth the stop. We got the sampler with sausage, pulled pork, brisket, and ribs. They also have complimentary beans and they had a great taste. Not bland like a lot of other places. The service is top notch very friendly. You won't regret eating here.

Brisket and jalepeno sausage

I've yet to find better in the state of Texas. Keep up the good work! Brisket is NOT dry, done up perfect. Hospitality is great. Only thing to perfect would be...make your own sweat tea!

As…read moresomeone who appreciates attention to detail, I was thoroughly impressed by how pristine the entire establishment is--everything from the dining area to the restrooms is maintained to an incredibly high standard. Beyond the cleanliness, the atmosphere is warm and exceptionally welcoming. The staff is genuinely friendly, and the owners go out of their way to ensure every guest feels truly taken care of. It is rare to find a place that balances such professional upkeep with a personal, "home-away-from-home" feel. Highly recommended for anyone in the area looking for a quality experience. The food is great. The plates are small ( which is fine ) but it would have been nice to have a bit of room to cut up my food , and I'd add a second side to anything that's not a sandwich, but even with just one side ( steaks get two ) you don't leave hungry. ( extra sides are 4 a piece) The only other suggestion is a basket of homemade bread would be perfect for this establishment . It's a southern food , steaks and gravy type place. A basket of bread would make it perfect . Great place though . We would go out of our way to stop again.

I wasn't very hungry but needed some of those bull beans with sour dough bread. My husband ordered a 8oz filet and those yummy loaded mashed potatoes . Juan & Allie's BBQ - Menu and hot sauce table

Those cowboy beans were great! It easily fed the 4 of us for about $60.00. Thats 15 bucks a head....not bad considering a combo meal at a fast food joint can hit you for 12-15 bucks now. I live in Washington but I'm from Sunset....I must say...we do not get this caliber of brisket up here on Whidbey Island. I could eat this everyday!!. Thanks Juan. Incredible meal!

After an early morning flight to DFW, we were halfway through the two-hour drive to the north-Texas…read moretown of Wichita Falls when lunch sounded like a good idea. Initially, I said that I was in the mood for a lighter lunch, but when we read some of the many 5-star reviews for Juan and Allie's BBQ that said things like "I will always come here whenever I am within a six hour drive", I changed my mind. So we pulled off the highway and about a half-mile into the small town of Sunset. I realized we were at the spot when the faint smell of wood smoke trickled to my nose from the side of a weatherbeaten building with a "Backyard BBQ" banner tacked to the front. Walking inside, we were greeted by nods from a table of men in work boots and jeans, and then promptly welcomed by Allie herself. She indicated the day's menu on the board and helpfully answered our questions. The inside dining area was comfortable and homey, even if like the outside it had seen better days. Sagging ceiling tiles and duct tape repairs told the story of getting by and focusing on the important things. It is a real family-run operation, with Juan smoking the meats and Allie making the sides, along with waiting tables. On the day we visited at least, it was just the two of them working. Of course I had to order brisket since it was Texas, but the sides presented a more challenging decision. After hearing Allie's description of their cowboy beans, I chose those and the potato salad. She disappeared into the back room, and soon returned with a large metal tray containing slices of brisket and Texas-sized portions of sides. The brisket was beautifully smoked and sliced, and flavor was perfect. The only deduction I have to make was due to it being a little less tender than I would expect from a great brisket. It went down easily despite having said I was not in the mood for a pile of meat, but I did have to make use of my knife a little more than usual. The sides were big on home-cooked flavor. In both, I noticed a big difference from typical southern or big-name barbecue joints in that they were not overly sweet but relied on more earthy seasonings for their taste. They were excellent complements to the beef, and deserve some recognition of their own. After our meal was done, we chatted with Juan outside for a minute, where we learned some of the details mentioned above. It would have been cool to hear more about their story, but they had work to do and we had to get back on the road. So we pulled back onto the highway, having experienced a friendly welcome to Texas and a satisfying first meal in the Lone Star State.

Madilyn came and got my drink order. I went with no appetizers as I was getting extra sides. I ordered the 3-meat plate with ribs add-on. Requested the sausage, sliced brisket, smoked ham, and a couple of baby back ribs. The sides were pinto beans, potato salad, hand cut fries, and Tchoupitoulas Gumbo. The wait was not too long, better than average. Presentation on the plate was nice. Check the photos. All the meats and sides were great, very tasty. I absolutely loved the hand cut fries, they were seasoned just right. The real surprise for me was the cup of Tchoupitoulas Gumbo. It was quite delicious. I'm definitely going for the larger gumbo meal next time. All kinds of cool things adorn the walls and hang from the ceiling. Above average noise with all the different conversation volumes. Very clean and lit for character (night). Madilyn and Trinity were the best tonight. They helped to make the experience enjoyable. I'll definitely be returning.
