Worst Service Experience I've Ever Had - Avoid Zeigler Honda of Kalamazoo at All Costs I had the unfortunate luck of breaking down in Kalamazoo while visiting family. I took my car to Zeigler Honda, assuming a dealership would be the easiest. Big mistake. They quoted me $4,000 for a new clutch on a car with only 40,000 miles. The estimate was nearly double what multiple independent mechanics quoted me. I was told that if Honda ever issued a recall, only work done through a dealership would qualify for reimbursement--so I felt completely trapped. The service advisor assured me this was the worst-case scenario and said the parts would be sent to Honda for review after the repair. Once the job was done, they changed their story--said they'd "held the parts" for me but wouldn't be sending anything in. Honda already issued Technical Service Bulletin 22-017 acknowledging premature clutch wear due to a supplier defect. Zeigler charged double the labor listed in that bulletin, and to make things worse, they performed additional work I never authorized, which ended up causing additional issues I had to have corrected elsewhere. In short: this dealership is dishonest, overpriced, and untrustworthy. I've owned Hondas for many years, and this experience was such a disaster that it's made me question the brand altogether. If you ever find yourself needing repairs in or around Kalamazoo, take your car literally anywhere else. You'll save money, time, and a lot of frustration. Last time at Zeigler, listen to the other reviews. I've been coming for years but my last oil change experience was the worst and the most expensive. The service staff was nice, but I miss Rich and his absence was noticed. They were not busy at all. I waited over an hour with zero check in or communication. My car was gone from the service bay for over 40mins, and again no communication. They used to check in when the service was done and it went to the wash, clearly not anymore. I've never had this experience and will never be returning. Do your self a favor and go anywhere else but here. There are too many good shops in Portage/Kzoo to subject yourself to this. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH Zeigler Honda Kalamazoo !!! I bought my 2018 Honda CRV with 30,000 miles from the dealership in 2021. Over the next 3 years I put 90k miles on it. Kept up with oil changes, tires etc along the way. Never had any work done at any shop that wasn't the dealership. Fast forward to September 24, 2024. I bring my vehicle in for a full check up and to mention I had witnessed some engine shaking. They flushed all my fluids and mentioned some things that could be causing the shaking.. so I ended up replacing brake pads and rotors, and fuel injectors. Total cost: $3,319.44. 2 months later (11/22/24) I bring my vehicle in for the same reason.. my engine is shaking. I bring it in to Honda Zeigler and they tell me they can't find anything wrong with it. The day before I had to pull my vehicle off the road because of shaking and it would not accelerate.. and they tell me nothing is wrong. Paid for an oil change and they charged me $169.99 for a diagnosis again. Total cost: $264.18. I then take my vehicle in 2 more times over the next couple weeks. They tell me they don't know what's wrong, they tell it could be the ignition coil. Still have the paperwork in my vehicle for that but approximately $250 there. I went in to pick up my vehicle Monday morning, as I left the parking lot I called them to let them know my vehicle was shaking as I left the parking lot. February 10th I come in again. My vehicle is shaking as bad as it ever did. I drop the vehicle off on a Monday.. a day or so later they tell me they're talking to technicians from other dealerships to figure out the problem. It's now the following Monday.. they still have my car and I haven't heard back about anything other than that they were trying to figure it out. My dad shows up to ask what's taking song long and they tell me I have a blown head gasket and my vehicle is worth $500. I reached out to Honda America to voice a complaint. Talked to a rep named Max, who is was a real talker. I could tell he was the type to tell you what you want to hear. I waited on Max for 2 weeks to see if I could get some "goodwill assistance" and was denied. This is the most absurd malpractice I have ever witnessed in 31 years. I can provide any information regarding my case if that means it could lead to one less car sold by Honda Zeigler. They also did $600 in repairs before telling me my vehicle was worthless. read more

I purchased the certified used Honda warranty on my 21 Pilot. the ride comfort button failed and instead of fixing they refused and stated they would not honor their warranty because the button never breaks. therefore must have been abuse. why sell a warranty they won't honor? read more

I had an electrical problem with my Honda., They asked approval for 2200, which I thought was the damage, then came back with that didn't fix it, and asked for 800 more, with zero ability to stand behind the work saying it would be fixed. Searching for a used car online is the easy part. The hard part is reaching out to all of the owners/dealers and making sure that the vehicle you saw are still available, at the same price (most places seem to change the price weekly based on an industry algorithm that updates when other nearby cars are sold), and without any major surprise that would make run from the car. They certified used '20 Lincoln Nautilus was exactly as described from features to price. Ali Kabil knows his vehicles and his craft, you can tell he enjoys what he does and so does the finance manager. This is the second car I've purchased off Ziegler. In less than 3 hours, I test drove, purchased, and drove away in my new-to-me vehicle. Would have been faster if there was 2 finance managers on duty (but it's not worth knocking a star off the rating ). All positive reviews on Google are real and well earned. read more

Called Zeigler on 6-17-24 to set up appointment for a recall service on our 2019 Odyssey. Lady said Service would call back with date for appointment. No one called me back. It is now July 11th 2024 and this time it was an internet chat with the same spiel. LOUSY service once you've purchased a vehicle. Buy your Honda elsewhere! I know in past there has been supply chain problems due to Covid but now it is no longer true. We were surprised that Zeigler was serious about giving the customer a good deal having bought three cars from Zeigler in over a three year period ending in 2015.We switched going to Zeigler after they seemed to be one of the higher priced dealers several years ago. We purchased a brand new Honda Pilot Trailsport in February 2024 from Zeigler Honda Kalamazoo. Our sales person was Caleb Busson. We had done all our research prior to purchasing the car and expected the entire process to be seamless. Unfortunately, it was anything but. The only reason I gave 2 stars was because the finance guy was straightforward and efficient and the service department was friendly. The rest of the experience was garbage. I would never recommend Caleb as a sales person, and would probably just drive to Grand Rapids if you really want a Honda as our experience was really subpar. I waited to write a review and wasn't going to, but unfortunately just realized they never submitted things on their end to the SOS for the registration (or they did and the SOS sent our registration to them and they decided not to contact us). Either way we did not receive our registration. After this realization, all the negative came rushing back and I just felt I should at least warn others. ALSO - DO NOT purchase their Z Guard, it's literally a joke and worthless. Just use the $ to go to Great Lakes Auto and actually get a product applied to your vehicle with a warranty that's worth something. I cannot even imagine the run around Zeigler Honda would give you if you tried to access the promised features of the Z guard. Bottom Line: Car dealerships are a dime a dozen. DO NOT TRUST/use this service department. We had our Honda towed into Zeigler. We were billed for the cost and labor of installing a new fuel injector. Out of town, our car again had to be towed to another dealership. We gave this dealership the service bill from Zeigler so they could see what had recently been done. They found the fuel injector had NOT been replaced, sent us a text and pictures and saved the part. We have called and texted Zeigler, provided them with the texts and pictures from this dealership, and asked for a refund. They have only deflected and stalled. Last email stated a new fuel injector should be free since the "new" one is under warranty. The NEW one? The new one they didn't put in? read more

I took my 2011 Honda CRV into Zeigler Honda to have the door actuator replaced by them. They put in part, called when car was ready for pickup. Drove my wife over so she could drive the CRV home. When I got home, I found out that the top of the door panel was humped up at the door window opening. When I put the window down, the felt rail fell away from the door panel, and tab at top center of door panel was bent under into door panel. It is supposed to be hooked over the metal door frame. I took pictures of improper mounting of door panel, and damage to tab. I called Advisor/Manager Dave, told him what was wrong with panel. He said to bring it back in and they would fix the panel. I was already out of town when he called back and told him I would bring the car back in on Monday. During the time I was out of town, my friend that is an auto body specialist for 48 years looked at what had happened. He said they needed to remove the door panel, heat the tab up and let it cool. He said it would go back to its original molding shape. Re-attach the felt rail to the door panel and reinstall door panel correctly. When on Monday I took the CRV into Zeigler Honda, I talked to Dave Burtis about what my friend had told me they needed to do, to fix the door panel. He listened and then took the car into the repair shop. A very short time later, he brings the car back. He said it's all fixed. When I put the window down, there was a black substance on top of the door panel. He told me that is where they heated up the panel and put it back together. When I got home (1 hour later), and put the window down, the felt rail fell away from the door panel. I found out all they did was cut off the tab from panel and put black adhesive on felt rail and glue back to panel. This is right where you put your arm out the window on door panel. It sticks to you like tar, got on my coat and my fingers when I looked at what they had done! At this point, I am LIVID at what they had done!! I did not authorize them to cut tab off the door panel. I called and left a voice mail for Dave Burtis. He called back later and said they would get me another door panel. Later the next day they called back and said they had found one, and would let me know when it was in. He called a few days later, said they would swap out the panel. I had already had the car in twice for repair that went from bad to worse, and that I would pick up door panel and do the work myself. I went over and picked up the door panel. The next day, I had my friend come over and filmed the removal of the door panel. That's when I found out that there are 2 clips on upper wing that covers the mirror bolts that has to be removed to get panel off. Only 1 clip on this panel, is supposed to have 2 clips hold this on, only 1 on that part! Next, I start to remove door panel screws, door arm has 1 upper screw and 1 lower screw. The lower screw is just lying in pocket behind tab cover, NOT screwed into door frame. The upper screw goes into square block that clips into door. The square block was not in the metal door frame. I started removing the panel and found that 3 of nine door pins that hold the panel to the door were not there! Upon removal of door panel, the moisture barrier is not put back up in place. The plastic plug that holds the barrier up, is not there. The plug that covers the access hole for door handle that needs to be removed for replacement of door actuator, was not put back in on reassembly. I fail to understand why this was not put back together to factory specs. I put the replacement panel on and off 6 times to see how hard it would be. All I had to do was line it up correctly and it fell right in place with NO force at all. I even had to change the door switches out because the replacement panel switches did not work correctly. I paid them $438.90 labor, Misc charges $35.00, Parts $155.24, Tax $11.41, for a Total of $640.55 to do what I thought would be Top Quality work because they are The Honda Dealer where we bought the car new from. I thought they had Certified Mechanical Ability to do the door repair. Putting the parts back on correctly without leaving parts off! DID NOT HAPPEN! Anybody with common sense should have been able to put vapor barrier back on correctly. Put plug back in vapor barrier, put other plug back in for access hole for door handle bolt. Put ALL the plastic pins in the door panel that hold panel to metal door frame. Put both clips on wing that covers mirror bolts & nuts. I paid a very high price for a Honda-Certified Trained Technician, who did Very Poor-Quality Work that was never done correctly in the first place. I will NEVER EVER deal with Zeigler Honda. Whether to buy a new Honda, or their SERVICE Department, EVER AGAIN!!! read more

I took my 2019 Honda Odyssey in to have the oil change as a part of my Honda Care program. I was told that I had 2 free oil changes from any Honda dealer within a year of owning my van. Ziegler Honda just informed me that I was over on miles. They we're so rude about it, especially the service manager, Dave. I was shocked that he was not willing to do anything to make the situation right. He even told me that Ziegler Honda pre-owned department tells their customers that they have 1 year for 2 free oil changes. Fox Honda in Grand Rapids is going above and beyond to make this right. Their pre-owned sales manager called me back and said he would reimburse me for the service. Ziegler Honda needs to have a lesson or two from Fox Honda. Came in for a simple oil change (young, female, alone). About 10 minutes in the lady comes back and tells me my oil Pan is completely stripped. She goes on to explain multiple times how the last oil place must have done it, multiple scenarios how they did it and to contact them for money. The whole interaction seemed fishy- like she was trying to overcompensate and pass blame onto the last place. Plus she wouldn't even look me in the eyes. It was supposed to be a quick $45 stop that has now turned into over $1000 and possibly could even total my car. They put a temporary plug in and told me that the ONLY solution is a whole new oil pan. I called around, there are various other cheaper fixes, they were just trying to pull one over on me. DeMarco took the call and said they didn't have one but had some coming in with the equipment we were looking for. She asked if they were adjusting over MSRP due to current market conditions. They were. She asked if they had a military discount. No, he said, but they would honor MSRP since she is a veteran. Super. Set up an appointment to go and leave a deposit on Saturday (it's an hour from home). Get there, they appraise our trade, offer 7K below Kelley Blue Book trade in....and the selling price is now thousands more than MSRP. Call him out on the low trade and the MSRP. We will just sell our car locally. He leaves to remove the trade from the deal and fix the MSRP. I can hear his manager telling him how much the used ones are worth. He comes back and still has a deal that's many thousands over sticker. But he assures me he isn't a liar. Needless to say, I was super pissed. We left and by some act of fate, were able to find the exact model we would have ordered (if you could actually special order a Honda) at Serra Honda in Grandville. Kim Berends provided the best car sales experience I have ever experienced of any brand, ever. No wonder she has a huge pile of trophies on her desk. I'll never do business with a Ziegler group again, so I guess my F-150 will have to go to Eby or Jordan for service now. Brought my car in for a tune up, minus the oil change, and to find out what the sound coming from the front left was. The tune up consisted of changing the spark plugs and a "visual" inspection. Bill was $495. The noise I heard was coming from a coil and strut - they wanted to replace both sides - estimate almost $3,000. Discouraged me from replacing just the one side. Took the car else where; $500. This place is overcharging and not in the best interest of their customers. Boycott. read more

First time we have looked at a Honda. We drove a CRV, decided we wanted to buy one and was told the sticker price is what the car cost. We had been told they have no trouble selling them and once was available we should jump on it as they go quickly. When we asked for something free to be added we were told they might be able to throw in a rear all weather floor mat. We contacted Battle Creek Honda who over the phone told us they could save us money off from that sticker price. They did did so quite a lot so we bought from them. So I guess it's not a Honda policy but a Ziegler policy to not budge on price. Battle Creek Honda was a wonderful car buying experience. read more

We were told there was a recall on our airbags, and to come in right away and that we could get a loaner, so I made the appointment but when I got here they said there was no loaner and he didn't give a crap about it he just was very matter of fact and said "we don't have one, no one told me about it, do you want to reschedule" so rude! So uncaring! So unprofessional! I was originally told the appointment would take less than an hour and now they're telling me it will take about 2 hours. Jeff would not allow me to send him any emails of my proof as all he could do is run the diagnostics and go BASED off of that information. Let alone make me feel comfortable bringing him my vehicle. If I could give Zeigler Honda of Kalamazoo zero stars, I would have. Do not have your car serviced at Ziegler Honda. They are liars! Our brand new 2022 CRV broke down in Kalamazoo which is 2 1/2 hours away from where we live. The problem was under warranty (being that the CRV was only 6 months old). The service guy we were dealing with, Joe V., lied at every step of the process. We were at his mercy though. And the final straw was when we were about an hour away from Zeigler to pick up the CRV (because Joe had called earlier to say it was ready), he called us to say that he hadn't received payment yet and needed us to pay $4,300 for him to release the CRV to us. Oh, yeah, he was leaving for the day too so he was giving us a "courtesy call". He knew we were 2 1/2 hours away. He waited until the end of the day when there was no way we can fix the problem, or call the other dealership. He was supposed to be paid from a different Honda dealership but Zeigler said that we would have to wait for the other dealership to pay Zeigler if we were not going to pay them. Zeigler had been directly authorized by the other dealership but had nothing in writing to prove it. So, now we have to get reimbursed from the other dealership and have nothing to back up that the dealership actually authorized the work. The kicker is that he originally offered to just take a credit card "to hold until the morning but not charge it". I escalated it to the Zeigler operations manager (2 levels above Joe) who required that we pay it in full. He could have told us last week that they would need payment before releasing the car to us. They took advantage of us at the 11th hour. They are literal scum of the earth. read more

Back in 2014, my Honda Civic died on I-94 and Kalamazoo, right after a blizzard. It was taken here for diagnosis and repair, but the trans had blown so I was out of luck. From my home in another state, I tried to negotiate a deal for a new Civic with Kyle. We had a deal via email. I took a train in to finish the deal, but Kyle was off that day, despite us having an appointment and a price agreed upon. I was once a car salesman myself for a brief yet miserable period of time. I had to quit as that dealership was as crooked as they come. I do remember from my sales training that we were told "say whatever it takes to get the in the door." I think my salesman followed this unethical advice, knowing he'd be off that day. Basically, they tried to take advantage of my unfortunate situation. Suddenly I had no deal, and the rest of the sharks here were circling the waters. I left in disgust. I also complained to Honda regional management about this. My advice - AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more

Brought my car (CRV 07 )in because the Battery light was on, no appointment. Got a new battery, $200. A couple weeks later, the battery light was back on. Drove right to Zeigler Honda. The guy at the counter said " well you need an appointment, cant help you without an appointment.". I was not happy. What happened to customer service? I mean, they were all just sitting around just laughing and joking at the front desk. Anyway, got an appointment the next morning, later in the day, "need and alternator ". I asked don't you you run a check/ diagnostics prior to adding parts? Oh yeah, your getting an after market part too, because thats all we got, $620. How about now I am driving home with a chirping sound. Wait the weekend, called Service to bring the car back cause my car was quiet til you all got under the hood. Monday, Im told to wait til Tuesday. By Tuesday my car sounded like 20 birds chirping. I dropped off my car and said you must have not tightened the belt. I went to work and got a call back. Mrs Ri'Chard, the belt looks good, no issues, but its making the chirping sound. Me- "what? if its fine why I need buy another one?" charged me $170. I believe they damaged the belt. I believe they sold me a new battery without checking if the issue was the battery or the alternator. To top it off. When I picked up my car on the last of my three visit.... even with the many guys standing around in the express section. The cashier could not get any of the help to respond to get my car for 10 mins. So She asked me to wonder out in the lot to find my own car. Horrible service! read more

Co-worker of mine speaks English as a second language but is a very smart individual who critiques and examines the work being done to his vehicle afterwards (like any sane person would). He's had to revisit this Honda dealer three times and still hasn't had a good experience or a situation resolved. And the free coffee sucks. Anyway, the first time they hadn't even touched the oil filter. Sweetwaters Donut Mill could have done a better job than that. When confronted, the employees said that the oil in the filter looks old because the car is old (a 2014 CRV). We didn't think about that. Those Honda guys sure do know what they are talking about. They also hadn't touched the oil filter or cap as well. They were even told that the work was going to be checked afterwards. Nincompoops. A third time and they finally got it right. Turns out they hired psycho-mantis, who can remove the oil cap without even touching it, put in some of that dirty old car oil, had psycho-mantis slap on an identically looking (and used) oil filter and they even said that they had put the oil in from "the bottom". I would have never guessed they hired the Incredible Hulk to hold this car upside down while 3 toddlers on stilts poured some oil they siphoned from the Autozone recycled oil bin inside that ancient 2014 CRV. I would definitely recommend visiting here if you want to leave feeling disrespected and if you enjoy losing brain cells while examining their quality work. No, really, don't go here. (can't speak for the sales department, but I'm pretty sure that I could have poured oil in right-side up with my eyes closed. I mean, who fills oil from the bottom anyways?) read more

Terrible service. I went there for a noise I was hearing in the back of my car consistent with a bad wheel bearing. They told me I would be charged $55 for an inspection BEFORE they even looked at it. The last Honda dealership I went to never charged me to inspect my vehicle when I had issues going on. Then they came back and said the bearings were perfectly fine but I need new tires (when I just purchased mine from discount tire 6 months ago). They took incorrect measurements of my tire tread and kept insisting I spend the money on new tires. Then I asked them for my money back and I still had to pay $20 for the "inspection" they did on top of the oil change cost. Took it to another local car shop. Turns out the bearing WAS bad all along. I went to them to have oil change then one came to me to tell me that the oil drain plug was damaged I said how even I had changed my whole oil pan three months ago. Also, One year ago, they did the same thing for my car and they said the oil pan was old so it has been replaced Then I replaced before three month ago and today the oil pan came out with drain and they said they are not responsible for this issue. I talked to someone who said he is the manger, unfortunately he raised his voice on me and then he left me alone because he said he wanted to end conversation with me without reason. So I took my car and now there is oil leaking coming from the temporally oil pan that they setup there. I will not be repeat there and I don't recommend them at all.
