Bought a 2019 Bolt from Heritage. The sticker on the car said it has a "Dealer Warranty" (I have a picture) but when reviewing the paper work, they had changed it to "AS-IS" and charged me $3K for a warranty. Sleazy. read more

I own a 2004 Corvette Convertible, with 60,000 miles.  I searched for a year to find this car. It is a car I always wanted. In the beginning of July I started the car and the Automatic transmission shift handle was loose and it would not go into gear.  I researched this and concluded the Shifter cable was broken. I contacted Heritage, Chevrolet in Battle Creek MI. They told me they were booked till August 5th. 5 weeks away. I made the appointment, but very unhappy with the 5 week wait. August 4th I paid to have the car towed  there so it would be available first thing on the August 5th morning. On August 5th, I heard no word till 12:20 p.m. when Christa wrote "Hello this is Christa at Heritage Chevrolet. My tech arrived late to work this morning and just left for the day because he wasn't feeling good.  I'm afraid that we wont be able to get your car looked at until tomorrow." I told her I was disappointed. On Friday, August 6th no word all day. I received a call about 5pm and told by a man, whose name I don't recall that they were too busy and unable to look at my car.  I was not happy after waiting 5 weeks and 2 days. August 7th no word August 9th Christa said the tech confirmed my research and told me two parts were needed and gave me a quote. Christa called back and informed me my parts were discontinued and she had no options. I asked for the part numbers and within 20 minutes I had both on order through Ebay. I told Christa I would drop them off as soon as they arrived. Parts arrived by Saturday ,August 15th,  I dropped them off in Monday,  August 17th by 1:30 pm. I wrote a text to Christa asking her to confirm the guy I gave the parts to gave them to her and to have the tech verify they were the right parts. I received no reply Monday. Tuesday,  August 18th I texted Christa at 7:15 am asking "Is anyone there?" Christa responded at 10:54 saying "Sorry I'm back today. My tech called in sick this morning. I will keep you advised of when he gets back into work. The tech did get the parts yesterday evening." I wrote back very upset asking if there was only one guy that could fix my car? One more day they would gave had my car two weeks. And out of 5 days they could have worked on it 2 the one guy was sick and 1 day they were too busy. Wednesday, August 19th, two weeks since my car was towed there Christa texted me twice. Once at 8am stating "We anticipate that the tech will be here today and we will do everything in our power to have the vehicle done today." This is what should have happenned two weeks prior. Then she texted again at 4:20 pm stating "Your vehicle is ready to be picked up at Heritage Chevrolet. The total is 385.00. There will be someone here until 6:00 this after noon and from 7am-6pm tomorrow. Thank you Christa" This is what should have happened the previous Monday Thursday,  August 20th, I went to pick up my car at about 1pm.  When I had my car towed there it was spotlessly clean. When they drove it out I could barely see out the dust covered windshield. My car was filthy covered in 2 weeks of dust.. Also it appears they removed the interior console plastic to get at the gear shift and it was not reinstalled properly. If they didn't remove it then something happenned to it while it was there. In the 53 years I have been driving,  this ranks as one of the poorest experiences I have had with a car dealer service center. When I picked mu car up at least the damn windshield should have been cleaned. I will never go to Heritage Chevrolet again. If I could give this dealership zero stars or negative stars I would. This is the worst place to buy a car ever. If you DO find yourself purchasing from them, at least DO NOT BUY an extended warranty plan from them! I clearly have wear and tear coverage on my policy and the company they work with to sell policies for have decided that a clutch slipping or becoming "sticky" does not count as "west and tear". Jason is the sales manager I think, he will be named on my law suit and so will the salesman who signed this price of crap policy to me. He knows who he is. They also have "service advocates" who use only vague phrases like "they think", "maybe", "could be", and "please hold while I ask". This company has been nothing but nightmarish since I drove off the lot. Because it's the only Chevrolet dealership in Battle Creek I use them. No more. **EVERYONE SHOULD READ IF CONSIDERING BUYING FROM THEM** When my husband first said he was looking at a car here I didn't think too much about it. I looked into them but nothing too serious. Well I wish I would have looked a lot harder. He was looking at a 2012 equinox we read they were decent cars so we thought we would give one a try. We are 26 years old 2 kids 3 dogs it was time to upgrade the Toyota Camry to something bigger. Our salesman Scott was a young guy. I am not sure if it is because he is new into the car sales or he didn't seem to care too much. I specifically asked if it would be detailed before we got the car into our possession and we were told yes it would be. After 2 trips in and having to go above his head we finally got it mostly cleaned. We literally picked it up from the detailer they take the cars to and they were rushing like crazy. Ok well at this point we realized we messed up by buying from Heritage. Onto month 3 of owning the car we went to change the oil and man something was not right. The oil was thick and the filter was all dented in. I am no mechanic but I have done oil enough to know it wasn't right. Now onto month 4 of owning this chunk of crap on wheels. It started acting like it was going to stall and was sputtering. So we got ahold of Scott and Thomas and they told us the oil was changed before we bought it and that he could schedule a time for us to take it in to be looked at. Then that was the end of it. Well here we are just about to Christmas and we parked the car in the driveway and was not driving it. Honestly we just didn't have the extra funds to get it fixed. So the beginning of Feb I chatted with Nate and Thomas and we had it towed to them to look at it see if the warranty covered it. By the way after spending roughly $2,300 on a warranty that they said would cover everything but routine maintenance they told us that our warranty wouldn't cover a dime. So now here we have a vehicle we paid $13,000 for, a warranty that won't technically cover anything but will reconsider if we find the receipt for the oil and filter we bought (which no one has ever heard of this before) and a ton of bad situations. They quoted us and said they would give us a 15% discount for good measure. Now today we get a call and added another $1000 onto the repairs. I asked for a work order to be sent and I am still waiting around on that. Please I strongly urge everyone to really know what you are getting yourself into with Heritage. We are getting screwed so fast I don't even have time to get my lipstick on. read more

The whole car buying experience the Heritage Chevrolet has been a struggle since the minute we ordered our new car. When there are so many Chevy dealership choices, one would think that Heritage would want do a better job communicating and taking care of their customers. We were originally told the new car would arrive in 8-12 weeks. 8-12 weeks then turned into 4 months, then 5 months. The only communication is when we would reach out inquiring about the car. We were then told yet another date and another and another. When ordering the car we were told it would be in our budget. Well, the car finally arrived over 5 months later and of course just as we thought would happen -- we were quoted a price $200 a month over what we were told when we ordered the car even though the price of the car was the same as when we ordered it. After very little compromising, Heritage dropped the payment so we were $189 a month over budget. We felt stuck buying the car since we did not want to have to start the whole process over and wait months for another car. And then the GM Finpaperwork was lost, mailed back, not submitted --- who knows??? No one of course wanted to take responsibility. We were asked by Heritage to bring our payment that is due on January 16th to them and they would make it for us. We dropped it off on 11th and did not hear anything until we called on the 13th to ask if the payment was made. Heritage then told us we had to rewrite the check out to them instead of GM Financial, which we dropped off immediately. We then received a call on MONDAY, JANUARY 17TH saying they could not make the payment for us but we now have an account with GM Financial and we need to call them and make the payment. So now, our payment is late and of course, it's not Heritage's responsibility or their fault?!?! They don't see a problem with this, probably because it's not THEIR credit on the line. Heritage got their sale and have washed their hands of all responsibility. Stay far from Heritage Chevrolet. Lesson learned that staying local is not always the way to go. The local customer service was wonderful. Very friendly and willing to go the extra mile. Ron was my salesperson, and he did everything he could to make sure I was happy. He even drove out to my work to pick up my car to charge it at the dealership while I was waiting for the proper wiring to be installed at my house. The reasons I didn't give them 5 stars were: 1) they seemed unfamiliar with the process of buying/selling/ordering a Volt; 2) the local dealership was unable to get any communication from the regional dealership as to when the car would be available; and 3) there was a miscommunication regarding a specific feature that would have been a deal-breaker for me had I known that it was not available on the model I selected (I was told that it would be). But, I just chalked all of that up to a learning experience on all sides. read more

This is one of the worst dealers that I have dealt with in my entire lifetime. The salesman very verbally aggressive. He kept on insisting that I decide what it would take to make the deal. When I told him, he would get upset and say No. The management won't go for that. Not only that, he insisted the deal had to made that very night or someone else would buy the vehicle. (Oh Well) So I ended up buying the very overpriced vehicle. When I got home with it, I noticed that it had front wheel well covers but none in the rear. When I asked about it, I was told that it was an additional/optional item and would cost $190. They wouldn't even pay for it. Come on, we Live in Michigan, You sell me a truck and them let it rust? Now the salesman calls me about the parts and says that I need to call the parts department and order them myself. I supposed I'll have to install them too. Very poor service. The first salesman that approached me in a way as if I was being racially profiled by the police. He asked me what I did for a living and I told him I was self employed. He then stared at me a moment then asked if I was paying my taxes. He then asked if I had a separate account for my business or if I had only one account. After this he then told me he also has a business and I'm not handling my business correctly. At this time, I asked him why we needed to discuss this in order for me to buy a car. He said, "I'm just trying to see what's going on here." I then told him I will just look around and if I needed his help I will let him know....He then stared at me a moment and said, "Well, the cheapest thing we have on the lot is the car over here." At this time, I walked away and got in my car and began to leave this place. While leaving, another salesman stopped me and asked if he could help. I then told him what had just happened with the other salesman. This salesman was better than the last, however I had a difficult time with this salesman as well. I told him what I wanted in my SUV but he seemed to try and talk me out of everything I was asking for. According to him, I did not need built in navigation because I can just plug in my phone. He also told me I didn't need AWD because he owns a front wheel drive vehicle and he's never had a problem. I then told him I wanted remote start. According to him, I didn't need remote start because I can just go to Best Buy and purchase one...He also told me I didn't need seat warmers either...This was absolutely unbelievable. It was as if this salesman wanted me to purchase what HE wanted me to have....I eventually bought a vehicle only to later find out there were plenty of SUV's that had everything I had asked for. When I later approached the salesman about this, he claimed he didn't remember me asking for any of these items or avoiding giving me straight answers. Also, I received an email and a letter in the mail asking me about me experience. The letter and the email also stated I would be receiving a call from Chevrolet but I have yet to receive any such call. The attitudes within this environment is not good and I will never buy another vehicle from here. Especially seeing that there is a lack of honestly among the salesmen. read more

I found a 2010 Rav4 at this lot and was excited to go look at it. The man I was working with was honest and said they had not checked it out yet so they did not want me to drive it for safety reasons. I called back a day or so after to see what was up. The sales person was over all very open and communicative, and while they unfortunately found something wrong with the transmission, I'm glad they were so thorough. 2nd lemon bought here. I bought brand new 2014 Sonic, after 3 yrs had numerous lights on, paid $360.00 for battery change, air conditioning stop working and shift got stuck in drive position twice, so I could not turn it off. I traded it in for a 2018 Equinox in Dec 2017. Two days ago I got an engine light that is on! If I buy another car it won't be a Chevrolet. BTW, it says I have a warranty but then only gives me 2 visits at no cost. The Sonic cost me every time I took it in. read more

Heritage Chevrolet got my sale, but will never get business from me or anyone I know again. Do not go here if you are hoping to get a good deal on a car. They were dishonest with me from the beginning of my car buying experience. I was inquiring about a used Subaru they had on the lot and my salesman, Jayden, told me I could put a non-binding, totally refundable deposit for them to hold it two days until I could come see it. When I was ready to buy the car, Jayden told me that the price was no longer negotiable because I had put a deposit on it. I've never heard of a used car dealer who doesn't negotiate price and they were unwilling to come down even $200 for a recent college graduate. I was told that a little extra money "wasn't that big of a deal." I left very dissatisfied and would not recommend this dealership to anyone who is looking to be dealt with fairly and honestly in the car buying experience. read more

Brought my elderly mothers car in for repairs, steering pulled to the left. Was told it was the brakes, over a $1000.00. to repair. Picked up to car and was told all better. Car still pulled to the left. Also old parts, a greasy rag and plastic bags left in the car. Had somebody had taken the car for a test drive they would have been aware the problem was not fixed. My truck had a brake recall, i was told by service department that it would take a couple of hours, depending schedule. which was okay. They did computer recall. Went back and got my truck later, made a short run. Had same brake problem. Went straight back to dealership, because my truck was unsafe to drive. Was told that a part had to be order to fix recall. This was the 18 of December 2019. I call back on December 27, truck not ready. Jan 3, 2020, Went to check on readiness. Because i was told that they would call, to keep me in the know. I talk the service manager. He told me that he look in on the problem. He call me back later that day, say the part was in. And that i could get my truck the following day,which was Jan 4,2020. Service would call. no call. When there, seen my but was not ready to pickup. Monday Jan 7,2020, was told that i could have got it on the 4, But no one okay it, or call. I had an Accident on 10/6/2016. Heritage said it would take 30 days to repair. After over 60 days, I went to pick up vehicle, and on first test drive found bumper sensors not working properly, so had to leave it there another week for them to fix. Picked it up and two days later, same problem...back to their shop. Picked it up a week later and vehicle died on the road a few days later. They said it was another problem, changed gas tank sensor, then gas tank (said sensor was broke in tank, then vent broken). Sensors still not working, and they kept vehicle for another 30 days plus trying to find parts and repair. Picked it up again, and still sensors acting up. Found mirror adjust not working too and the changed head. Picked it up again only to find both still having problems. DO NOT US HERITAGE for your repairs! read more
