We were actually on a search for a fondue spot when we fortunately ended up at this location. In that regard, we've determined that for the most part, unless you get to a restaurant at a relatively early time for fondue, you will definitely need a reservation. Going back to the Zebra Bar, we arrived at a relatively late hour to an empty venue. We sat with caution and doubt toward the quality of food being that we were the only other group dining there. The Zebra Bar is a bit tucked away from the downtown area, while the entrance is not too spectacular relative to other restaurants. The menu itself was sparse in options, mainly offering a wide selection of drinks rather than food. There was only one fondue option, along with a handful of bar-grill style food. This further cast doubt on our dining party, however, we were already committed. We ended up ordering the fondue for 3, with a side order of 14 wings paired with the house white wine. We were delightfully surprised on the quality of food and service. I'm not sure if there is a way to mess up fondue at this point, but the fondue here was great. Compared to another restaurant specializing in fondue, the fondue serve here at the Zebra Bar was a bit more fluid and "watery" in consistency. Along with the mild flavor of the cheese, it made the consumption less monotonous and heavy in my personal opinion; after eating cheese and bread for a while, I find that my taste buds get tired of the taste and eating any more would not be advantageous. Paired with white wine, you cannot go wrong. The wings were bomb. These are probably some of the best wings I've had at any restaurant. They reminded me of the chicken wings served at a restaurant by the name of Capitols in the San Francisco Chinatown, just without the garlic. They come with a dipping sauce, but they were simply amazing by themselves. Shout out to the other Yelpers who have commented on how great these were. The service itself was great. There was only one server at the time, this happy older gentlemen. He was very pleasant to talk with and was super friendly. and helpful. He made what could have been a tank-of-a-dining choice into a overall great experience. Zebra Bar is a really cool little place in Zurich. My group and I were on the lookout for Fondu and we found it here at Zebra Bar. When we walked in they were not very busy, and the guy behind the bar was doing pretty much everything. I really think it was a 1 person show who serves, bartends, cooks, cleans and does everything. The guy was super friendly and nice. This place has two things that they are really known for. 1 being the fondu and 2. being they are known for there chicken wings. The fondu is expensive. It was E24.50 per person to do fondu. That is expensive for fondu. So what we did was one person got fondu and we all shared it. The chicken wings here are good. They only have one sauce and that is bbq. It was super good and we needed that change and to have something we were all used to. Overall a really fun and good little place to grab a bite to eat. The fondu is expensive but the other food is really good and not bad in price. The fondu is really tasty and I am sure they don't want you to share, but with such limited staff they would not know. We stopped by for a "traditional" Swiss fondue experience, and we definitely got one. My husband and I split a pot of fondue (served with cubes of bread) for dinner and it was delicious. As other Yelpers have said, Zebra Bar is run by one guy who was very hospitable to us. He doesn't speak English very well, but you can get by with pointing at the menu and saying "danke." It is a less expensive version of fondue with all the same taste, so I would recommend it to friends! It was 25 Francs per person for the fondue where it would easily be 45-50 Francs per person at other establishments in Zurich. read more

Just in town for a few hours on a Thursday morning. Stumbled across this well reviewed place on Yelp and it certainly didn't disappoint! Husband and i went for Fondue while on vacation in Zurich, and we were not disappointed. I ignored the "top fondue restaurant" recommendations, and opted for this place after reading the only other review about how the owner operates as a one man show. Figured we would support a super small business. Definitely a great value (if you are in Zurich, you know how costly it is, so this is a big bonus). The owner is a very sweet man, who clearly cares about his work and the food is FANTASTIC. He even brought us complimentary digestif shot after our meal. Walked in and no one was in there at about 7pm and it looked on the older side. Great fondue with no frills. It's a bit of a trek from the downtown area for anyone relying on getting places on foot, but well worth it if you're not looking to drop $40 on fondue. Like other reviewers, went with the fondue and an order of the wings. The owners generously gave us a few extra wings--a fantastic dry rub, not spicy and delicious--for us to share. The highlight really was the fondue. We sat around a while and took our time with the meal, but the owner noticed our empty bread basket and hurriedly rushed to get us more without us asking (+1 since we didn't speak the language). We really wanted to like this place. It seems like a small local business. We came here when the original fondue place we planned to eat didn't have availability. We should've turned around when we saw only one other couple in the restaurant. The waiter was helpful with us and our limited German. We ordered fondue and chicken wings. The chicken wings were good, but fondue wasn't nearly as good as I've had at another restaurant in the city. I could taste the wine. My friend thought it was fine until she had some the following day in Lucerne. She realized that what we had wasn't good. The service was very, very slow. Which is fine, esp if you aren't in a rush. The waiter was also the cook. Our guess is that he's the owner. He was having a drink with the other couple in the restaurant. This is also why we had an issue getting the bill. read more
