We haven't been in for a long while, because they have just gotten so bad since covid. We decided to give them another shot today. There were two official looking men there working from Zaxby's corporate office. They had their computers all set up and appeared to be working hard. They were right next to the drink machine. The cashier called them the "big men." Our visit was at 2pm, so they were not busy at all, and some employees were outside smoking. Our food was semi-hot, there was no ice in the machine, and it was completely out of coke. But, nothing from our visit tops what was in the men's room! read more

When I entered, all looked well, but I should have known something was up when people were looking displeased. Going here on July 4th was not such a good idea and 39 minutes later I was served my meal. I had to ask the lady at the register to give it to me as she was running around trying to help another angry guest. They forewarn you that they are short staffed. So you have to keep your expectations low. I didn't realize how low my expectations had to be until I passed the drive thru lane and opened my bag of goodies at home. Ordered the signature sandwich meal, the chicken was crispy and delicious, but pickles were missing and there was barely any "signature sauce." Moved on to my crispy fries, no ketchup came with the meal. Shame on me for not checking to make sure my order was correct and assuming a ketchup packet would come with my meal! What was I thinking? Standard Zaxby fare as far as the food goes. Usual high quality freshly made with large portions. My go to is the 5 finger meal with the fingers "buffalo sauced" in the hot honey mustard sauce. Had to comment though after reading all the bad reviews. I know it is often hit and miss in any restaurant especially a fast food location but I found this location to be quite clean. The dining area was being cleaned as we came in and at least one staff member was cleaning the entire time we were there. The bathrooms were very clean as well. If you are local and have not been here in awhile would definitely go back and give them a chance. Appears may have been able to straighten some things out. read more

My first and only experience was picking up a door dash order to be delivered. I waited and hour and a half standing there. Founf out the order wasn't ready because it had a few salads and they were out of salad stuff .... I asked "did you not tell the customer?" They said "no". So I texted him and advised him to cancel his order because apparently it was never going to be made. I also witnessed an elderly person in a walker come through needing to find the restroom. Cackalack fried chicken! Chick-fil-who? This place is better than any other southern fried chicken place. It's out of Athens, GA. This place doesn't have the agenda that some of those competitors have. All they care about around here is tasty fried chicken pieces and french fries. We came in here looking for takeout. They have deals on chicken, but I got the standard chicken fingers and fries, with their tasty sauce, Zax Sauce. The chicken was golden fried, crispy, tender and delicious. They know how to fry up a chicken tender in here. The plate I got was too much for one person. It was a huge portion! There was a long line at the drive-thru, but hardly anyone inside, so we just parked and went in to order the take out. The interior walls were plastered with 'bling,' weird random signs and nonsequitors all over the place. By the time we left, the line had barely moved at the drive-thru. I would not recommend this location. Once I pulled in the parking lot with my food I realized there was no ranch, no silverware, no straw, and no napkins. Not to mention the chicken had little to no sauce. I pulled back around to ask for these missing items and the girl at the window was very rude to me. She asked me to pay for the ranch and was clearly irritated with me (for no reason). She kept yelling to the other guys working there about my order and claiming the items were in the bag. I get that it's fast food but still this is extremely unprofessional. There are five in my family and I disagree with the poor reviews also! We all love zaxbys! The soda machine is most likely empty because these machines use very small containers of syrup to offer you all those flavored! As busy as they are it runs out but I have seen them change these small cartridges often! I love the decor, signage and ads from a time gone by! Other national chain restraunts do the same thing! The food is good, never had any angry staff but dealing with stupid people day in and day out could make you angry! They're rude if you call them out on it, they're slow, they can't even count the number of chicken tenders in an order, let alone put the right sauce on them. Also the chicken comes out at room temperature every single time. Only giving this one star because i cant give it zero stars. Worst service possible! We order 3 salads, two if which were wrong. I took my receipt with the two salads and tried to just have them exchanged for the right food we ordered. Dining room was closed due to maintenance, which i totally understand, however i knocked/wave and no one acknowledged me. We then tried to call, sent to voice mail. This is the second time stuff like this has happened here. Then the other day, my sister did a mobile order and she went in 3 minutes before the order was ready expecting there to be a line... she waited for 20 minutes before she was even able to say that she was here to pick up. Then once she got her order, it was wrong! And to make it all worse, there was a hair in her food, not on, IN! And when she called to complain, they didn't offer her a refund or anything. We visited on Monday, October 9, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. Passing through. Not great for handicapped individuals. I was in a surgery boot (broke foot in three places) and crutches. The floors have this slick waxy feel. I almost slipped and fell *several* times. I don't think they clean their floors well at all, cause tile gets film buildup over time that could cause that. It was a huge hassle, and I was very nervous the whole time. To top it off, we got our food, and our family of 4 all had super stale fries. My Cajun Club sandwich was so sloppily made and soggy. Like it had sat already made for a bit. My 2 year old's kiddie grilled cheese was partially burnt. Seemed like such a good Zaxbys when we first drove up. I get that it was lunch rush. I used to be an assistant manager at a Zaxbys in GA, and I can tell you that it is possible to consistently create Encore Experiences (which is part of Zaxby's mission statement) even during lunch rush. Very disappointed with the meal I got today at the Zaxby's on Russ Ave in Waynesville. I ordered the TLC breaded chicken sandwich meal which includes fries and a drink. I went through the drive through approx 5:30 pm and was told to pull to the front because they had no more chicken ready but were cooking it...really !???? At 5:30?? Peak dinner time ?? I had to wait almost 15 more minutes for my meal and when I did get it .. the meal was already cold ! Nothing like cold limp fries ! I have eaten here more than once and I can say I am pleased. I would be happier yes as some reviewers said to brighten up the place just enough. Not a lot tho because I feel that it would take away from the atmosphere. The service has always been pleasant and really nice.(Because I am nice and not acting like I want to kill them if they get it wrong). I have never waited more than 7-8 minutes for my food. the only problem is that sometimes the ice machines are both empty but it might just be because I always seem to go when it is busy. I would say it is clean sometimes, but I have noticed an improvement in cleanliness. I say give it a try. The food is good and it's really enjoyable if you are looking to talk to someone and not be bothered.
