I walked in with elderly father from Arizona. He fell and was in a sling. Asked for a full shave (hard to find places these days). We were told they were booked up until Tuesday (today was Thursday 10am). No one is waiting for a cut/shave. No one in the other barber chair. I asked for suggestions. He had none but asked where we were from, so he knew we were traveling across Iowa. Honestly, it would have taken maybe 20 minutes. If they don't want to do it or dont do they any more, just say so. If you need an appointment, say so on social media, so we were not wasting our time. Their pictures show two old guys, which I thought would put my dad at ease. He has a helluva couple of days. There's nothing like a good shave to make you feel and look good. Just not at this shop. read more

This is the best Barber Shop I've ever been to. When you walk in you are greeted by three barbers who have been practicing their trade for a long time and take pride in it. It has a classic hometown barber shop feel to it where you can have a decent conversation with your barber but none of it feels forced. The haircuts are excellent and it's the only place I know that will clean up your neck with hot lather and a straight edge. This place is the ONLY thing I miss about Waterloo. read more

I just moved to the cedar valley a few months ago, and I was really nervous about finding a new barber. I moved from the quad cities, and had established my go-to barber. After a quick google search, I came across Zarifis. I was extremely satisfied with my haircut. I came in with a mop-top, and all I had to request was "take (2) months off". If you live in the cedar valley and need a haircut, don't go to a run-of-the-mill clip joint (great clips, sport clips etc..) check these guys out. I recall when Jim Zarifis started his new shop on Kimball Avrnue. I once knew his son Steve. Jim did a bangup job of cutting my hair, Going to get a haircut at his shop came to my rescue on one occasion. A certain girl was upset with me and escaping to the Zarifis Barber Shop took care of me. After moving out of Waterloo, I lost my privilrge of going to that shop.
