This is the first and only Polish restaurant I've eaten at during my short layover in Warsaw. I had high expectations for pierogies and Zapiecek far exceeded those expectations! Though it seems like there's quite a few Zapiecek restaurants around, this particular one was located in the heart of the Old Town so we didn't have to venture far from the main square to get here.
We ordered pretty much all their pierogies to share. Out of the soup dumplings, cheese, spinach, and meat(beef) dumplings, the beef dumplings were our favorite by far. It was so well seasoned and quite filling! Each plate of pierogies came with 8/9 dumplings so it's a decent meal for 1.
We also got polish soup, the polish pork knuckle, the duck, and potato pancakes. I'd highly recommend the pork knuckle and the duck! They're pretty generous with the portions so I'd recommend sharing. They're very flavorful and tender - although also fairly fatty (reasonable given the nature of the meats).
Other tips:
- Don't expect great service here
- Think there is already a service fee included in the check (not sure if it was cause I had a party of 6)
- They take credit card
- Ask for the WIFI password
- Zapiecek seems to be a chain, but this particular one seems to offer less menu items than the other ones in the area. Not really sure why, but it has the essentials and we were happy enough with the experience! read more
