This is literally the best-curated kid's store I've ever been to. A ton of books, including a lot I hadn't seen in stores before before but that were classics or classic-adjacent. Cute clothes, cute toys, just everything you could ask for. And the layout of the shop is so good too!! Lots of great little clusters of related items. One nice bonus is like, yeah, it's not cheap kid's stuff, but you also have a million books at list price to choose from. So if you're burnt out on KPT prices, you can get great souvenirs at the same price you'd pay at home. Honestly 10/10, no notes, I would definitely come back if I was ever in the state (even if I were just going to Portland).

However I do not think I'll be shopping here much longer. I had stopped by to grab a gift the other day and was helped by an older woman I did not recognize. Like I mentioned previously, the staff here is always very friendly and helpful. This woman was not. A minute into asking for her assistance I was disappointed to discover she was down right bossy and pushy, I could tell she was only focused on making the sale and not actually helping me. And when I tried to wave off the help and shop for myself, she lingered and closely watched me shop while chatting my ear off about her children. I'm a mother, god knows I talk about my kids any chance I get-but this just felt excessive and almost manipulative. Eventually the other younger lady happened to pop into the back room and was swift in saving me from the uncomfortable situation. She was very helpful and actually listened to me. On my way out I had also asked her about the lady I had encountered previously and learned that she apparently is the new manager. Needless to say, if that is how this store is going to be run from now on I feel bad for both the staff and customers. I don't think I will be shopping here for much longer. With that said, Starry Eye's consignment collection is small yet particularly selected with a great many beautiful, quality items at reasonable prices. I should also mention that in addition to clothing, they have a great selection of shoes and even some quality toys and puzzles! I have purchased many gifts there for friends having babies and always get a "where did you get this?" when bringing a gift from Starry Eyes. Tip: The store does not necessarily wrap gifts, but they have adorable bags and tissue paper and are usually happy to fix something up for gift giving. Tip: They do have odd hours, so call ahead!

This Saco branch reflects the look and feel of the Reny's "brand" and parking was more convenient than the Portland store. We like how Reny's has a great variety of items without being quite as large and sprawling as, say, a Walmart super center. It also stresses having Maine mad or themed products where they can. I have noticed that, with admittedly flimsy evidence except at our local one, employees at Reny's seem to like working there and helping customers. The parking situation is good here, and it had the same comfortable feel and friendly employees as the other branches we have visited, so that is good. On to the next branch, passport in hand!

If you don't like people and don't like kids, don't open a children's store. I would recommend Toys in the Attic and Day Trip, Jr. Both have friendly owners and staff, better inventory, and better locations.
