This is a great place to learn Karate for children or adults of all backgrounds and sizes…read more The Environment: The school itself feels very comfortable. It is a cozy place with lots of small touches that make it feel personal instead of commercial. Since the classes are limited to 10 students at a time, there is always enough room to safely and comfortably practice. The school has a large focus on technique over athleticism and stature, which is probably why there is such a range of different people that can attend the school and benefit from the teachings. This is not the type of school where you will be asked to run intense drills or be yelled at for mistakes. The teaching is relaxed, you can ask questions and learn at your own pace. Different skill levels often practice in the same class so you have the added benefit of learning from your higher-ranking peers. The Teacher: Prof. Geary is the founder of this school and a 10th degree black belt with impressive credentials. He is the youngest 10th degree blackbelt in America, second youngest in the world, and proof of his credentials is readily available online and displayed in the school which is a true testament to the legitimacy of the school. Professor Geary teaches all the classes himself, so you can feel confident knowing you are receiving quality instruction straight from the source, rather than second-hand. His general demeanor shows that he cares way more about teaching good karate to his students than how to spend marketing dollars, which I really appreciate. Inclusivity: People of various shapes, sizes, colors and ages on a large range go to the school. There are children and seniors, many people from different background and many people who you wouldn't immediately think of as athletic. They are all welcome and show respect to each other at the school. Overall I would highly recommend studying Kempo Karate here.

From the owner: This establishment focuses on teaching practical and realistic, "Real Life" techniques so the…read morestudent will have the confidence to defend themselves.

For the last 3 years my son has been going to Rosenbach warrior training branch (RWTB), with Jim…read moreRosenbach. In these 3 years we have witnessed the decline of attention given to these young students such as my son, who need direction. Jim picks and chooses his favorite students and helps them, the students that don't need help, instead of helping those in need. I should add, my son is ten, this is an activity for him and a way to learn how to defend himself. He is only ten, 7 years old when he started. Just a boy. Jim has singled him out as well as a few others and made inappropriate comments to them and put them down. Yesterday my son was cramping and stepped aside to stretch and was called out and yelled at by Jim without even knowing what was going on. This was followed up when my son was saying quietly to another student what was going on to which Jim called him out and asked my son if that was his boyfriend. Keep in mind, my son is ten years old, there isn't any of these kids this age that have 100% focus like an adult would. It is also important to add that Jim rosenbach claims his training to be a Christian based program, is this the way a good Christian acts? Jim sits in his chair and keeps his prize students close while not paying attention to the students that need help. It's time to hang it up and retire Jim. It's obvious you can't handle it anymore. Turn it over to Jake Nielsen who can actually teach students. I tried to contact Jim to which he didn't respond. So I'll take to the internet and get the word out that way. We will no longer be wasting our money at RWTB, paying Jim to single out students that need help and bully them. We're done with rosenbach. He has lost any respect I had for him and wouldn't recommend anyone take there kids to him for training. Update: Jim called me back and said my son screws around in class. My son is distracted at times, but I will say he has more focus than a lot of others. Jim did apologize, and said he's sorry he said what he did. He also told me that the students that get the most attention pay more to get better training. So yes, he focuses on the students that pay more in the same class as the students that pay less. So the students pay the normal fees, don't get training. He also stated that he has 30 students in a class and can't give attention to all of them. Then we're done. Have fun running your Christian based program into the ground.
