This guy is a fraud I included his post about not discipling kids even knowing he advertises he will teach your kid discipline and self control My grandaughter was harrased and chased around by a behavioral kid for month and I tried getting this resolved with absolutely no help. She was very active and in Taekwondo, Judo and weapons, we paid thousands for all this just to be pushed out way before her time was up. When i asked for a refund i got this threatening message thats below in the pics. We did not owe him for private lessons, we paid over 400 dollars for the lessons she recieved and when I asked last week, we still had 12 left. This guy was just after our money, he already had all our money so their was no reason for him to resolve behavioral issues with the school. Nothing I said here is slander. These reviews exist so people can share their experience they had at this business Even with the threats of filing resraining orders and being an ex cop that can do things to us. I still fill the need to do the right thing and warn other parents

Our 6 year old is now 11 and she loves! My middle daughter still always wants to go in and say hi even though she decided karate was not for her. The Instructors understand that there is not one style to teach and take the time to learn about your child and how they learn. I have been enrolled in the adult classes for 5 years. Not only is it a great way to get some exercise and training. I starting thinking I'd take it for fun and have discovered that I love the styles and programs they provide. Steiner Academy of Martial Arts is not just a school but a family. We could not be happier with our experience.

We were swindled out of thousands of dollars from the owner of this school. We tried for months to…read moreresolve an issue we were having with a behavior child there that would not stop harassinh and chasing my grandaughter. It got the point she could no longer focus in any of her classes. We tried to set up alternate days with the kids mother but Master Hall wouldnt allow it. Rather than bringing us in to discuss this issue he threw a post of facebook to let everyone know he doesnt discipline children, they figure it out on there own by the time they reach black belt, which means every other child in the class has to endure it. Ultimately we were forced to leave the school so i messaged him about a refund on all the money we just handed him. I included his response in this review. He tried to tell us we owed him alot of money for private lessons. Private lessons have to be paid in advance, last week when I checked they told me I still had 12 left. We had just joined black belt club and she only completed a few month of judo, she still had about 5 months of taekwondo. We paid everything in advance cause I knew she would put everything in to this, I had no idea we were going to get swindled out of all our money. My grandaughter was up in tears over this, she put every bit of her heart and soul in these classes to just find out that we were just robbed of everything. There is no aquisations and no slander in this review. Read his post and read the response that he sent us. He is threatening that if we ever talk about his school or him he will file a restraining order. As well we are not allowed to speak to any students or staff or he will also file a restraining order. My grandaughter was crushed again when she found out she will never see her friends again. This guy is out of control, he stole our money, he ripped everything out from under my grandaughters future. He is not a respectable man, he has no integrity only cares about the money. If you still chose to enroll your child, please stay and watch how it is handled. If you give them any money I would not pay for more than a week at a time. From what he sent me, he goes to court for this all the time. Its how he keeps the doors open. Even with the threat of a restraining order, he also went on about how he use to be a cop and if I said anything about this I would not like the rebutals he will give me. I know he was hoping to scare me away, he's probably done this to multiple parents. I will probably face a lot of retaliation but this is the right thing to do. People need to know the truth about what happened and how he threatens people to keep their money. I included his post and threatenimg message in the pics

They all do a good job of demonstrating the skills and seem genuinely happy to help the kids. Class rates are reasonable and the studio is always clean. You'd think the mats would smell but they really don't. One thing they could improve on is the onboarding process. Our family was totally new to taekwondo and were unsure of what to expect for class, belt tests, etc. It would've great if they had info for new joiners and their parents, online maybe, that walked through the basic skills for each level, things to practice at home, what skills are required at a belt test, etc. I feel like we are just figuring things out as we go along.

This is a small Y embedded in the new Buena Vista High School (opened 2023). It's in the southwest corner of the building, just to the left of the main school entrance. It's best if you enter from L Street then stay to the left. They don't seem to be overrun by students, and there is dedicated parking. There are no small children running around. The intimate, welcoming environment attracts people of all shapes, sizes, colors, ages, and abilities. What this location doesn't have: CROWDS, a pool, fresh towels, kids activities, childcare, or large classes. No spinning, Tai Chi, aerobics, Tai Kwan Do, or basketball. No late evening hours. Your memberhip lets you go to other Y locations to access those things if you want them. What this location does have: weights, a few treadmills, bikes, rowing machines, semiprivate showers, Egym weight machines, and easy access to friendly staff for advice. They have a few small-group classes aimed at general health and fitness. The Egym machines are the big deal here; each machine helps you exercise a particular part of your body. The Egym system automatically adjusts each machine to fit your body and fitness level, so you don't have to carry around a clipboard or remember how to make all of the adjustments. A video screen shows you how far and how fast to move so you can exercise without hurting yourself. It's really quite easy and non-intimidating. The YMCA membership price is a little more expensive than basic memberhip at gyms like Blue Moon or Planet Fitness. But the money goes to a good cause, and you can count on them being ethical. They won't keep charging your credit card if you decide to cancel. As with any gym, I won't be posting interior photos out of respect for the other customers, but you can find photos on the Facebook page or on the Metro YMCA website.
