There's the colourful decor for starters - the brightly coloured parrot hanging from the roof, the reptilian sculpture mounted on the wall like some heathen deity. When I was a kid, Montezuma's reminded me of my favourite cartoon 'City of Gold'. Back then I wasn't so discerning with my food. Unfortunately, my taste buds have changed over the years and my knowledge of world culture has improved since digital television has enabled our family to get SBS. At best, Montezuma's food can be described as average. There's too much cheese on their enchiladas and their beany mush is salty. I think as a suburban family restaurant, this place still has some appeal but for couples with an expendable income and no kids, I'd be spending my pesos elsewhere.

The service was fast, they have one of the few self refillable drink machines I've seen in the country, and they've got Lava sauce which they don't have readily available in the US. My wife generally doesn't like eating Taco Bell, but she has always found the out of US ones tolerable and this one was no exception.

I ordered tacos and the spicy chicken tasted like it had no flavour, too much chilli and the texture was vomit inducing. The pork taco also had no flavour and was just not made as well as it is at any other restaurant, they also forgot to add cheese. My brother had a few bites out of his spicy chicken burrito and gagged and said it tasted like he was eating mucous, he still felt ill an hour after eating even though he left half of it. I won't be returning to this particular store in future.

They put this peri peri type orange seasoning on these crisp chips and it makes them really taste super delicious in your mouth. What I love about this place, is that it's fast food. They make your order fresh as you order it so the food hasn't been sitting there getting soggy and cold, bonus! I also love the fact that if you don't want the rice in your burrito, they will customise it to how you like it, for me, without the rice and more salsa salad. Another fact that no one really knows is that this place is owned by Boost Juice... it does give me a bit of a peace of mind when I know this because I feel everything is fresher for some reason. The standard Chicken or Beef Burrito will set you back $8-$9 and it will fill you up. They wrap it in foil so it keeps longer and the thing is wrapped to the brim with ingredients, you will definetely be full after. If you're looking for a snack, they have lots of types of tacos too. My work is only a short stroll from the office, but by the time I got back to my desk everything was soggy and the bag they came in had nearly torn open from the juices falling out (note I only had two taco's) They tasted great, I just wish there was a better way for Salsa's to serve their take away :)
