two women playing pool in a bar
Mirella K.

As someone who's been to Poland and is 100% Polish, this bar literally reminds me of an old school pub in a small town in Poland. My friends and I walked past this bar on a busy Saturday night and noticed that not 1 person was in this bar. We went in and asked if they were open and the bartender said yes; we definitely loved that we had the whole place to ourselves! This bar is super old-timey, pretty run down, and makes you feel like you're in Shameless (the tv show). The juke box only played one song, they're cash only, they only really have standard drinks (they do not have green tea shots which I feel are very popular now), there was no music playing, and the space is 2 pool tables, the actual bar, and a very tiny bathroom in the back. The bartender was nice but it made it easier that some of my friends and I knew Polish, so we were able to speak with her. I think this bar is definitely one that stands out in its area due to its super old school-ness; it's the exact opposite of modern and new age. I think it should definitely keep its old timey feel but maybe get up to speed about certain things so they can get more customers! Like maybe fixing the jukebox (or playing music), or accepting credit/debit cards. I'd come again for a few rounds of pool and drinks!

Polish party!

An old -school cool Polish bar. Sit down, have a beer or two with Chester and gain an appreciation for how great this country is.

This guys was singing Louis Armstrong and sounding perfectly in between playing this!

It's a reasonably-priced busy dive bar in the heart of Chicago. I asked the bartender if she had a beer + shot deal and she said "no, but you can order a beer and shot." And so we did! Noise level is fairly high, thanks to a lively crowd plus a jukebox. They don't normally serve food but I think are fine with customers bringing in your own food, and you can also place an order from a nearby restaurant (I don't recall which one). And yes, it's cash only so bring some money if you don't want to pay ATM fees! 4 out of 5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact. I like bars that allow customers to bring (or order) their own food - it allows for all diets! The one thing I'd like to see is more beer on tap - even just one good rotating local beer (e.g., Goose Island). Draft beer has smaller environmental footprints compared to bottled or canned.

Probably the true definition of Dive Bar, Rossi's is worth at least a fly-by. It is a bit dark, a…read morebit small, but still fun. Limited seating and even limited standing room. You can grab you own beer from their refrigerators, however, you'll need to pay and have the bar open them for you. I was impressed by the variety of the selection. Keep in mind it is cash only and swing by for a drink!

The decor looks historic with dark wood walls, beautiful molding, and of course antique sports memorabilia. It is in Chicago after all!! The menu items that were highlighted was the prime rib, while supplies last and the ribs. I tried to go with the prime rib but at 7:30 it was sold out. The bartenders suggested the French dip sandwich with shaved prime rib but went with the ribs instead. Smoked daily the ribs were tender and moist with a very sweet homemade BBQ sauce. I prefer my sauce on the spicy side but it was delicious, the shrimp were fried and crispy, served with fresh cocktail sauce. I opted for the fries and side salad but were good. The Greek vinaigrette dressing was delicious. The bartender was super engaging and knowledgeable. I hat his signature Ole Fashion and a glass of cab from their list. Both were great You need to eat here!!

The decor is straight from the 60s or 70s. The menu has something for everyone from ribs to prime rib to burgers. The waitstaff is friendly and efficient. The food was good. Our only one issue is the waiter told us the lamb chop special was gone so my husband ordered the pork chops but what was served were lamb chops. He ate them so we didn't say anything to the waiter but it was strange because the bill listed lamb chops not pork chops. Maybe they weren't gone after all? Over all I'll be keeping Miller's Pub in mind when we need somewhere to go for dinner or lunch and don't necessarily want fast food or the latest hot restaurant.
