This past year I have been lucky enough to participate in the City Of Modesto Home Rehabilitation Program for some much-needed improvements on my mobile home in Coralwood Mobile Home Park. This provided me with a new central air and heating system and an outside lift that will take me from my porch to my driveway since I am really having trouble getting down the stairs due to severe osteoarthritis in my joints, especially in my hips and knees. I'd like to thank not only the City but Zack's Handyman & Construction (the company who won the bid and was assigned to do the work). All the workers Zack had doing the different parts of this extensive job on my home were wonderful and they completed the final phase of the lift installation today. I enjoyed a wonderful air conditioner this summer and am looking forward to a nice heater this fall and winter. I now know I won't be crawling up and down the steps to my porch! I highly recommend Zack's for any construction, handyman, electrical or plumbing work. They can do it all. You get what you pay for. They went above and beyond for this job and I honestly could not have asked for more. I believe that is the way they treat all their customers ... and that Zack is a good, old-fashioned, licensed contractor with great values who does not settle for less than the best job. He will let you settle for whatever work has been done by his HAND PICKED crew. Be careful of collateral damage. I am still having to fix and replace doors that were damaged during painting, cleaning paint spray from windows and moldings, repainting walls because paint is so thin it peels off and stain on my new floors and counter tops. Zack and his crew have done jobs on my house for eight years now. They put in a fence, re-roofed, put in a radiant barrier in the attic, installed sun tunnels in the roof, changed the eaves, re-floored the bathroom and fixed the plumbing problem that caused it, and installed a new water heater. Each time the price has been competitive and the work great. Two experiences really epitomize working with Zack: When I had the back fence put in I wanted a 7' fence. Zack told me a permit is generally needed for a fence over 6'. I decided to have Zack handle the permitting and pay him the permit fee. But he found out my house was already allowed a 7' fence without a permit, so no charge. Zack could have charged me anyway and I never would have known, but he's not dishonest. Also, I chose a douglas fir fence over redwood because it was cheaper, but when Zack's lumber supplier turned out to have cheap redwood for almost the same price, he passed the savings along so I have a great redwood fence. When Zack installed my roof, I asked him to re-use all the existing vent hardware to save money. He did. More than two years later, I had a leak in the roof and called Zack to complain. It turns out one of the 40 year old metal vents I'd had him use had cracked, so it wasn't Zack's fault. But he fixed it for free anyway. Zack has never tried to charge me more than quoted, nor taken longer than he said he would to finish a job. When my AC went out I called Zack. He didn't do AC, and recommended someone honest for the job. When I needed an electrician I called Zack and he recommended someone great. So I always call Zack first. He's honest, dependable, and he stands behind his work. read more

I need a repair done in my home. I phoned and spoke to Zack, He said they are extremely busy, but he will have the electrician call me in about two weeks. Its been two weeks with no phone call. I phoned to see about my repair status and was told that they are extremely busy, i need to wait another two weeks. my response was absolutely no. this is poor business management. I called him to give him my business, but he doesn't want mine. Too bad. Now he gets a negative review, and I have no problem taking my money somewhere that appreciates a customer. read more

Run if you see this card or anyone who works for this guy...Remember that he spells his name with a "K"....Horrible work done on our house!!!!! Tiles laid on evenly and chipped....He and is sub claim that it was our fault for not knowing that the tiles bowed....contract stated that we pick the tile not do the research...others laid same type of tiles and had no problem because they used spacers and levelers. The first time they were laid, the gaps were off...had to come back and fix...ended up chipping some...had to come back again and fix ones that were up too high...left them hollow underneath. Re-did the bathroom shower and the shower connection, at the wall is wobbling. The wall is not evenly patched around the shower head. Replaced doors and had to re-due because they were not done correctly. Put tons of nail holes in the frame and chipped and cracked the door frames at some areas. When they worked on the roof, a/c and windows, they disconnected the alarm system and refuses to repair it. When they installed the a/c and heating unit, they didn't test it, so the fan stayed on and would not turn off at the control panel This was in Feb.and we were freezing. My husband had to go out the fuse box and turn off the power. It took 3 tries and installing another ventilation space in the master bedroom to realize that there was a defective part in the unit itself. The control panel itself...they had stuffed tissues in the wall, left a hole in the wall and just put the unit over the hole!!!! One of the windows they installed had a chip and he will not call to get it replaced. When installing windows, they damaged the walls around the windows and left them, until we kept asking about it...they kept telling my husband that they would show him how to fix the damages they caused. They were suppose to take our cabinet doors to a warehouse to sand and paint them, instead they took them to someone's house and brought some of them back warped. I'm sure I am forgetting a lot of stuff....Just run if you see the card or name. He is also a contractor under the City of Turlock Housing program....make sure he is not allowed to bid on your home....This is how we got in this hole mess. He was the lowest bid and we got stuck with him. read more
