My husband and I had just gotten in to a nearby hotel after 27 hours on planes, trains, and…read moreautomobiles for our Five-City European Honeymoon Tour in mid-June. Que Pasa was right down the street, so we decided to give it a try. After popping our heads inside the restaurant, we decided to sit outside by the street. The server (possibly the owner?) turned on the heater next to our table, which took some of the chill off on an overcast summer evening. He quickly gave us some menus and took our drink orders. From what I remember, they had a pretty good selection of local beers. There is a multi-lingual menu with numbers, so ordering was really easy. We ordered four tapas: Asparagus, Beef Tenderloin, Mixed Paella, and Vegetable Empanadas. Now, I have actually been to Barcelona before. However, the paella I had there was disappointing (I admit, my friends and I didn't choose the best spot). If I had known the paella at this place was so good, I would have ordered the regular-sized portion! Fresh seafood, perfectly cooked chicken, and flavorful rice and veggies... I was blown away. The other three tapas were also very good. The empanadas in particular had a lot of flavor, especially considering there was no meat inside. Our server was great. We had a great conversation with him about traveling and the town of Zaandam. He told us about the revitalization of the area and the town's characteristic "Zaandam Green" that is painted on traditional homes and buildings. The restaurant does accept magnetic-stripe credit cards. This is important because very few places in Amsterdam do. We would LOVE to come back and dine at Que Pasa again!

This was my tapas experience:…read more The food and ambience was amazing. The wait staff was lacking somewhat. Would not take my order properly. Short blonde haired older waitress. Walked off and called us 'sommigen mensen'. It was just downhill from there. Had to be reminded of dishes she forgot. Kept walking away while I was ordering AND quickly snatching away the menus. Cleared the plates while we were still eating, so I asked if they were closing soon. She huffs off. I genuinely ask her what time they close and her snippy answer was, 'when I like!' Thankfully the food was good. Then when it was time to ask for the bill, I was mid sentence asking for her to split it for me and my friend. She walked away and yells across the room that I have to split it myself. Thank you for turning sour what was meant to be a lovely evening after a long day of work. Very disappointed as this place was recommended by a personal friend of the owner.
