Haole enjoying his vaca with Zane and company!
Beth M.

One of the most stressful things about going out of town is where to leave our 'youngest'! I combed over reviews for days before we settled on giving Zane a call and set up an interview. We were so relieved to see Haole accepted and immediately happy in his new potential surroundings. Zane immediately showed us his professionalism and obvious love of animals. I am so very grateful to have found Zane as he simply loved and cared for Haole as one of his own. Zane is exceedingly smart, thoughtful and caring. He showed this to us every day as he shared ongoing updates and pictures of Haole's adventures while we were out of town. I recommend Zane with the utmost confidence your animal will love him too (almost as much as they love you). I don't know about you, but animals are family in my home. I am so thankful to say that Zane believes the very same thing.

Happy dogs.

After using Yelp for many, many years to look at reviews, I felt compelled for the first time to actually write a review. And it's for Z Animal Lover. Zane and his business have earned every one of those five stars. We trust Zane to take care of our little Cooper, whether it's just for a day or an overnight stay. Zane is kind, responsible, and knowledgeable. Zane makes sure Cooper is always given a good workout. We know because Cooper is always dog tired when he gets home. Also, during the day, Zane will text a photo or two of your dog to show you how happy s/he is. We have had Cooper for about six months now (he's a rescue) and we have noticed that he is better behaved and socialized, thanks in large part to Zane.

Zane took our crazy Covid puppy (not well socialized due to the pandemic) and has worked with him on leash aggression, alpha behavior, safety concerns for our family and even a feeding schedule. Zane is definitely the alpha in the pack and all the dogs respect and obey him. We are so excited to be working with Zane and have hope for our crazy puppy that he will grow into a well socialized dog. The hikes are amazing and it is so helpful that a 5 mile hike with a pack, make our puppy a tired and happy dog when he comes home. Thank you Zane!

Zane has been the greatest dog walker, trainer and boarder for our dog, Rita for nearly 3 years. I love the convenience of having Zane pick her up and bring her home so I don't miss a minute of work and she comes home nice and tired from a great hike. Rita has learned so much from riding in the car and hiking with the pack which has made her a happier dog and a much more enjoyable part of our family. You know what they say, "A tired dog is a well behaved dog"! We are so thankful to have his service and would highly recommend using Z Animal Lover for dog boarding in his home, dog walking, pet sitting, and hiking adventures!

Teddy and his friends on a hike with Zane.

If there were a sixth star to check, Zane would get it. He is amazing with our Teddy. I can tell by Teddy's reaction as soon as Zane knocks at the door, that he is excited to be with him. To see the pictures that Zane send form their hikes, you can tell that all the dogs really love being with him.

We boarded our 2 dogs with Zane for over 1 week. From the first time we met him, we knew he would be the person to care for them. Zane took our very small dog on his walks with the pack and in each photo he was smiling and satisfied. Our slower female dog was perfectly fine to stay and relax at home. Zane treated our dogs as his own. We had no worries and enjoyed our vacation. If you've come this far to read dog sitting/boarding options ...look no further.

Zane has been walking my adorable Lulu for about a year now and she loves him and her walks. He has watched her after hours and I know that her welfare is his priority. I completely trust Zane with my Lulu. He knows she us my spoiled baby and treats her as such. If he is watching Lulu after hours at my home, he has always made sure lulu has fresh food and water. He also will water my plants if they need it and he has done various other small jobs around my house if I need them. Being a disabled senior I definitely appreciate when kindness is shown. Please give this kind dog lover a chance and you too will see his much he genuinely care for your pet.

The initial consultation went very well, and I learned so much about dog communication and how to better support Peaches. I also learned that she is a highly anxious dog, which explained many of the challenges I had been concerned about. We enrolled in Gary's six-week program and finished with the tools and knowledge needed to keep Peaches on the right track toward recovery. Just like humans, dogs rehabilitate at their own pace, and over those six weeks Peaches made significant progress. We're looking forward to enrolling in advanced training once she's ready so she can enjoy more freedom off-leash. Gary is not like other trainers we've worked with. He doesn't rely on obedience-based shortcuts or gimmicks. Instead, he teaches you how to work through real situations and explains the theory behind his approach so you truly understand what's happening and how to handle stressful moments. Most importantly, Gary teaches you how to become the focal point for your dog, which has made a lasting difference for us.

From day one, it was clear he knows his stuff and loves what he does. A lot of the time, Giorgi was too overwhelmed to participate. On day 1, Giorgi hid under a table the whole session. But that's ok because Gary was really training us. By the last session, Giorgi was walking around, watching other dogs and people walk by, and still listening to commands. Gary taught us how to help Giorgi feel safe, calm him down when he's stressed, and build trust. We've already seen such a difference at home. Gary is knowledgeable, patient, direct (in the best way), funny, and available when you have questions. He celebrated every little win with us! You can tell he truly cares about the dogs he works with. We still have more work to do, but thanks to Gary, we know how to keep moving forward. If you have a dog with anxiety or fear, seriously, go to Gary. He's the real deal.

Her mom adopted the sweetest chihuahua from Arf back in 2021, the fur baby went blind about a year ago. So we were really concerned about how she would settle in a new environment, and we're trying to rehome the dog I went to Joybound a few weeks ago to ask if there was any chance they take back their animals in these circumstances. The woman at the welcome desk was so helpful explaining yes they do. She walked me thru the process to fill out the forms online They got back to my friend promptly to setup an appointment for a behavior assessment and vet evaluation. We had our appointment yesterday at 2. We arrived a half hour early so we wouldn't be rushed , and to help Lily stay as calm as possible. Everyone we encountered was delightful and so kind. No judgements- Lily came alive with tail wags and enthusiasm to be back at such a supportive rescue group. She was just basking in the attention and love. She passed her behavior test with flying colors. We were told she most likely will be going to a foster home first for a few weeks before she's available for adoption. We were told we can follow her online with her name, and see when she becomes available and she won't be on the website anymore once she finds her next loving home. Thank you Joybound for standing behind your animals and supporting families We also did not have to pay a surrender fee. We were encouraged to take our time and enjoy complementary coffee or tea, also offered a box of tissues We were already pulling out of the parking lot before our scheduled appointment time Can't think you enough for your kindness all around this hard experience

From constant barking at the front door and leash pulling with our Heeler to 'micro-aggressions' between the two of them, our home felt chaotic. The fact that Dan offers in-home training was a huge selling point for us, and over the course of eight weeks, he systematically addressed every single concern we had. Dan's expertise and patience are unmatched. He even helped us navigate our somewhat complicated family dynamics to ensure we were all on the same page. Our dogs are now better versions of themselves--we honestly don't even recognize their old behaviors anymore! If you are looking for a trainer who truly understands dog behavior and delivers results, hire Dan.

He was impossible to take a walk, we could not answer our front door, he terrorized the cats. The best thing about Dan is his method and approach. No prong collars, no harsh methods, no bark collars. He teaches you to "speak dog". He explained how dogs communicate with each other. He helped us understand Wally has anxiety from basically not having boundaries. His tools of choice are your "bark", a squirt bottle and baggie full of water. All gentle but so effective. We have had 3 sessions. The first was some basic commands and behavior corrections. They worked! I could answer my front door without him running out or just going crazy. The 2nd session we got potty training help. Wally had been doing well until our older dog got sick and had accidents. After that he only went in our house. We started using Dan's suggestions. The 3rd session was like magic and the skies opened giving us a new dog. We took Wally on a walk with Dan and he was a different dog. No lunging, no climbing up the leash or going berserk when he sees other dogs. Now he is a pleasure to walk-he heals, he minds us. Potty training is amazing. He has not gone in the house since the last session. Today I was in the yard with our cats. They have a fenced area. Normally Wally would be uncontrollable and trying to get to the cats. Today he just stood there when I corrected him. I cannot recommend Dan and Bark Busters enough. Gentle corrections, simple methods and immediate results. If you do what he says you get an amazing dog.

I have never heard any one of the hotel staff ever complain about her when I pick her up. I've dropped her there several times, even around some busy Holidays they did their best to accommodate Brenda. I really appreciate the effort they've taken in scheduling, it's been quick and efficient. The prices are also fair here. It won't cost you an arm and leg to board your cat. They also take time and engage with you cat so they don't get to lonely or homesick. I don't have any dogs, but love seeing their Doggy Daycare which is closely attached to the Pets hotel where I go. The dogs seem to be having a party!

Groomer: Ruby Location: Petsmart Concord Ca…read more If I could give zero stars, I would. I brought my dog Benny in for a simple maintenance cut and bath. His hair was long, and we specifically like to keep him fluffy. I showed the groomer a photo of the exact style we wanted -- a fluffy "teddy bear" cut -- and clearly stated that if they could not achieve that look, to please keep his hair long. I dropped Benny off at 9:30 a.m. and was told to return in one hour, which is typical for his usual groomer. When I called an hour later (after realizing I had missed my other dog Teddy's appointment and apologizing to the groomer scheduled for both dogs), they weren't even finished with Benny. I assumed the delay meant extra care was being taken. Benny was not ready until 1:45 p.m. -- over four hours later. When my husband picked him up, he looked like a completely different dog. His hair was completely cut off. It looked nothing like the photo I provided and was nowhere near the fluffy teddy bear cut I requested. It was extremely disappointing. What concerns me even more is Benny's behavior afterward. He is almost one year old and has been groomed regularly since he was a puppy. He is normally energetic, confident, and affectionate. When my husband picked him up, he was shaking and visibly nervous. Even two days later, he seems timid and withdrawn -- which is very unlike him. It makes me question how he was treated during those four hours. I understand that grooming salons get busy. However, communication and following clear instructions are basic expectations. I left my dog there trusting he would be cared for properly. This cut cost $110 -- more than the $85 I typically pay at a private boutique groomer who consistently does an excellent job. The quality did not reflect the price. I will not be returning. I only booked here because our regular groomer did not have availability that day. That was a mistake I will not repeat. Very disappointed.

I cannot say enough about Brad Wilhelm and the incredible work he did with my Cavalier puppy,…read moreOlivia. At just 6 months old, Olivia was exhibiting serious resource guarding and aggressive behavior -- to the point where I was afraid to get close to her and she actually bit me once. I've had seven dogs in my lifetime and had never experienced anything like this before. Cavaliers are known for being loving, gentle dogs, so having an 11-pound puppy that I felt nervous around was heartbreaking. I truly wasn't sure Olivia and I would ever have a good relationship again. I was scheduled to travel to Mexico over Christmas but couldn't take her due to her behavior. Brad went above and beyond -- he kindly arranged to pick her up the very night I left on a red-eye flight and enrolled her in a 4-week board-and-train bootcamp. Yes, the program is an investment, but it is absolutely worth every penny. Brad and Camille worked their magic. Olivia came back a completely different puppy -- loving, responsive, and happy. It honestly feels like night and day. I know I still need to do my homework and stay consistent, but just one week after her return, the transformation has been incredible. One thing I really appreciate is the ongoing support. Brad offers unlimited texts and calls for questions and guidance, which has been invaluable as we continue reinforcing her training at home. This also wasn't my first experience with Brad. He was recommended to us years ago when we got our older dog, a yellow Labrador named Bourbon. While Bourbon has always been mellow, Brad helped us with practical training -- including teaching him to jump into my sedan in less than 10 minutes! That stuck with me and is why I trusted him when we needed serious help with Olivia. Brad once told me that good training makes dogs happier, and now I truly understand what he meant. Olivia is more confident, more relaxed, and clearly happier -- and so am I. I wholeheartedly recommend Brad to anyone dealing with behavioral issues or simply looking for solid obedience training. His knowledge, patience, and genuine care make all the difference. I am incredibly grateful for the impact he and Camille have had on both Olivia and me.

Every now and again Brad's facility will take in rescue dogs who will undergo the full board and train program. I was lucky enough to be able to adopt Tarkin, a a cattle dog mix. I believe he had been under the care of Brad and his team for almost (maybe more?) a year but did not have much like in finding a potential adopter until I saw a post on Instagram and reached out. Right off the bat, Tarkin was very well behaved, knew the basic commands (sit, down-stay, leave it, wait, place, etc). Brad even provided a collar to continue with his training, was responsive via text MONTHS after adoption, and would always offer to come by for a follow-up training session. Fortunately, we have not needed an in-person session, but to be able to continue having him as resource by phone has been amazing and I am so grateful. Brad and Camille (Tarkin's other main trainer) have created such a wonderful foundation of training that I've been able to build off of, even as a new dog owner. Given my experience with Tarkin, I would highly recommend reaching out to Brad and his team about potential rescues available for adoption, or to see what training packages they have to offer. I couldn't have asked for a better first dog!
