If you complain to the principal over serious issues, he doesn't care, he doesn't even respond to you. There was a code yellow like last year and it should've been a code red cause people brought weapons on property and they wanted to cover it up. Other students and myself are the only reason parents got a call the NEXT day about it. There's too many details to share here. Even today I am terrified when the announcements sound comes over the speakers if it is at a random time. Many people at our school are aware of the stoners and vapers and they don't do anything about it. It's so bad that you can't go into certain bathrooms because those are the 'smoke spots'. As I did mention, I have had some wonderful teachers, so it just sucks that I have to complain about the teachers here as well. For this one teacher, in context (which doesn't make it much better) we talked about humanistic psychology and a criticism of it is that they are over accepting. Basically the teacher stated that "so if you ___ 4 year olds." Yeah, we all looked at each other disgusted like "Did he really say that? That's disgusting." That same teacher has also made very rude and snarky remarks to students. A very very controlling person. Some days I don't wanna go to school because I'm scared he'll make remarks about me and humiliate me in front of the class, he's already done it to me. After lunch, I think based on my experience, the upstairs bathrooms are a hit or miss because they are either locked all class period during 3rd period or open after 20 minutes. So if you really need to use it, Aunt Flo has arrived, or whatever, you're screwed until the end of the day if you're lucky enough to get to a bathroom. Honestly, if you want better education for your kids: go somewhere else. Maybe even go to Finland. Overall, can't wait to graduate because this has been a rollercoaster if the rollercoaster was barely on the track, had no seatbelts, and was on fire. Edit: Another thing, they just told us a week ago that we could be staying till 4:30pm for the exam, which would be ok, IF they told us like a month ago. So now the teacher basically said to just take that day off from work, for students who work, when it is probably too late to say anything. But the problem is, I have an off campus that day (which I worked s hard to get) and the purpose for that off campus is to help my dad because of medical issues. They literally told me I can't do anything about it so now I have to figure out 1. How to get home 2. Where to put my stuff 3. How my dad will get the help he needs.

The school did give me mental health problems, but that's mainly my fault for not doing some of my work and leaving me in a rabbit hole. Kids are kind of mean and cocky, something you would see in a private school. I was bullied for not catching dodgeballs zooming past my head at 100mph. The GATE students have their own hierarchy that works mostly the same as the normal students, but it's kinda different. The whole "popular kids" thing is really messed up. No, Alex, just because you hit a ball with a stick and laugh like a monkey should not make you popular. The dean was a little mean to me, but we are on good terms now. The main school does not respect my religion and beliefs. They laughed at me for wearing a cross. If you get put into a cubby, they WILL forget about you. I don't recommend dating anyone because let's be honest-- it's all idiot teenagers in one big building. I've dated twice and both of those experiences sucked booty. The weird gay kids are treated like babies, and it creates an unfair school environment. I don't care if someone made fun of you for being gay, move on. Some good things is the electives, teachers, and lunch times, but most of it is negative. Some staff are rude, but only some. The "phone away all day" is bs because I've seen kids walking with their phones without consequences. Teachers also can be passive aggressive and only treat the popular kids like actual students as someone who has experienced that. That's really all, and if you are looking into this school, I only recommend it if you are in the GATE program.

Despite being dropped off at 7:36 am and picked up at 4:30 pm, we received no communication, a direct contradiction to their policy that mandates parents be notified within an hour if a child is isolated due to illness. Furthermore, the provided documentation indicated our daughter was offered water only once at 9:25 am, with no other fluids offered throughout the day. Tiff's speculative explanations, including the possibility of teething, and her overall lack of accountability raise questions about the accuracy of the records. Compounding our dissatisfaction, our attempts to communicate with Gina, the owner, have been unsuccessful. Tiff's lack of knowledge and accountability as the Assistant Director is disconcerting. We prepaid for the month, but upon removing our daughter from the center on October 31, Tiff mentioned only a one-week refund, which we find ethically questionable. Additionally, the documentation stated that they offered our daughter lunch, but it claimed she refused. However, when we checked her lunchbox, her uncrustable sandwich was unopened, indicating neglect and raising doubts about whether she was served her lunch. In light of these concerns and potential breaches of childcare standards, we have filed a formal report with the state authorities to investigate for possible child danger. Tiff's suggestion that our daughter's isolation might be due to a runny nose, combined with the apparent lack of diversity at the center, leaves us deeply concerned. The failure to address our legitimate concerns, provide a comprehensive refund for the remaining period, and the potential neglect of our daughter's nutritional needs underscore the unprofessionalism we experienced. We share our story with the hope that other parents exercise caution in selecting childcare centers, considering the serious issues we encountered at Discoveries Preschool. Our daughter's well-being, adherence to ethical practices, and the provision of diverse and inclusive care should be non-negotiable in any childcare setting. So I heard North Valleys High School has a bad rap for a speech and some snacks. Let me give some…read moretrue insight as a member of the class of 2015. As a school that allows every student to have that true stereotypical High School experience you walk through the doors to see it just as such. You have a full school full of individuals of every background, every clique, fully staffed with some of the dedicated teachers, counselors and disciplinarians I've ever met. Every year I had a teacher who stood out to me more than others, some for good reasons and others not. My freshman year took the cake for me. I had some amazing teachers. had a very sweet biology teacher her who took more time than I have ever seen get to know students and still to this day, I don't know a single person who has something bad to say. My algebra teacher was just the same and is the reason I don't entirely hate math. Both teachers throughly took the time to teach each student what they were suppose to learn in ways each person could understand. Each year I had a couple teachers who will forever have a special place on my heart and owe so many thanks to for being a part in helping me achieve my success. It feels like a really long time ago that I went to north valleys but it would still be a place I consider for my children when thinking of what school to put them in, when they get older. As far as I've seen and heard, it's still the same high school I grew to know and love.

TMCC HS is such an amazing opportunity for local high schoolers in the Washoe County school…read moredistrict. 10th-12th grade students have an opportunity to earn college credits and even associates degrees as they work on their high school education and diplomas. The staff is amazing and the resources they offer the students seems endless. They provide tons of correspondence with parents so you don't feel out of the loop, while also encouraging students to be independent. There are many positives, and only a few negatives. You have to be willing and able to get your kids to and from school if they don't drive. No school buses going up there! Also, although you don't pay for the tuition, you still have to cover the cost of text books and course codes. However, there are scholarships and other assistance that is available. All in all, great program!

It took quite a while but we finally got driving lessons for the teen done. We signed up for six 2…read morehr lessons for our new teen driver in Feb. We had read many reviews indicating Phil as a great and patient teacher so we choose him and had to wait a little extra to start the lessons because he was booked a little farther in advance. The whole process is fairly hands off as the parent which is a nice break. The office takes your info and payment, the instructor is given your address and comes and picks your kid up for the lessons. I wasn't home for any lessons due to work but my wife was and our teen would be swooped you, perform his driving and came back a couple hours later. I guess the only thing I could have wanted was a little feedback each time on how he was doing. Also, due to Covid, the teen got 4 lessons in and then had to wait two months to complete the last 2 lessons. We had moved in that time period and Phil didn't miss a beat. He came out and took the teen for his lessons, with a mask for both this time. The teen even said he got to go through the drive thru to pick up some food because he was hungry. He thought that was great! Phil came to the door a gave a brief update on the last lesson and all seemed well. If I recall, the total for the six 2 hour lessons was between $500-600, which is a good chunk of change. However, the teen seemed confident in his skills, it saved us the major stress of dealing with his initially scary driving, and it was so easy to get the lessons started and taken care of, that I find it was well worth the money!
