As professionals with a background in education and truancy enforcement, our expectations for childcare standards were not met at this establishment. Following our daughter's weekend illness and her subsequent approval to return to daycare on October 31, she endured an entire day of isolation without any notification, a clear violation of the center's policy. Tiff, the Assistant Director, provided documentation that raised alarming inconsistencies with state-mandated reporting requirements. Despite being dropped off at 7:36 am and picked up at 4:30 pm, we received no communication, a direct contradiction to their policy that mandates parents be notified within an hour if a child is isolated due to illness. Furthermore, the provided documentation indicated our daughter was offered water only once at 9:25 am, with no other fluids offered throughout the day. Tiff's speculative explanations, including the possibility of teething, and her overall lack of accountability raise questions about the accuracy of the records. Compounding our dissatisfaction, our attempts to communicate with Gina, the owner, have been unsuccessful. Tiff's lack of knowledge and accountability as the Assistant Director is disconcerting. We prepaid for the month, but upon removing our daughter from the center on October 31, Tiff mentioned only a one-week refund, which we find ethically questionable. Additionally, the documentation stated that they offered our daughter lunch, but it claimed she refused. However, when we checked her lunchbox, her uncrustable sandwich was unopened, indicating neglect and raising doubts about whether she was served her lunch. In light of these concerns and potential breaches of childcare standards, we have filed a formal report with the state authorities to investigate for possible child danger. Tiff's suggestion that our daughter's isolation might be due to a runny nose, combined with the apparent lack of diversity at the center, leaves us deeply concerned. The failure to address our legitimate concerns, provide a comprehensive refund for the remaining period, and the potential neglect of our daughter's nutritional needs underscore the unprofessionalism we experienced. We share our story with the hope that other parents exercise caution in selecting childcare centers, considering the serious issues we encountered at Discoveries Preschool. My 4 year daughter (Autistic) has been shown nothing but care and kindness at Discoveries. They have helped her grow in more ways than I can count! All through Covid, Discoveries has been top notch with care and cleaning... as we all go through the waves of learning they have been unbelievably phenomenal to all of us. . My kids love this place! Gina, the owner, goes above and beyond to make this a fun and educational place to be. They have awesome teachers who care about the kids, and go the extra mile. My boys especially loved the Discoveries Halloween Party last year. You could tell the staff spent a lot of extra time and energy making sure it was a safe and fun experience for all ages. read more

It started off good. But after awhile there was a high turn over rate. When my son was in the infant care, a certain would leave him on the changing table unattended to grabs diaper. I told her he will roll off but she continued to do it. I took him out shortly after. We decided to give the daycare another go once he was older and in a different class. I noticed a toddler standing unattended in a high chair as I was walking by. I said something and they got her. On another occasion a certain teacher was a little physical with a child, which I personally witnessed (3yrs) but was never fired for. Some staff seemed to have an attitude and when confronted on there issues and would make excuses or just have an attitude about it. My niece attended as well and her mom accidentally put $125 in her lunch box for her tuition. It was never found and her mother I are most certain it was stolen. The only time she would have been in her lunch box was during snack or lunch time. The only person I absolutely loved was Miss Silvia. She is extremely caring and goes above and beyond. The owner was pretty flexible and helpful as well, just never really talk to her. I just wish she would hire more reliable and caring staff. I feel this daycare has huge potential but needs to fire the staff that are lazy and don't care. Its a child's well being we're talking about. read more

Discoveries Preschool has been a wonderful addition to the Spanish Springs community for approximately 23 years. I had all three of my children there and still help out occasionally. The owner is a delightful individual who goes above and beyond what is required by social services. Many times I have seen her supplement children's lunches and provide struggling families with shoes and clothes for their children. She is taking care of children and families for all the right reasons. I wish all preschools were fortunate enough to have such a kind and giving owner/ director. read more

We are on our second generation of children/grandchildren attending Discoveries Preschool, dating back to when they first opened their doors. Our son started at 6 weeks in the infant room, and actually became a teacher there during high school summer breaks. They care for our kids like their own, the security is top notch, the educational activities are engaging, play time is creative and fun, and the field trips are a blast. This is safe and healthy environment, encouraging learning and positive behavior. The owner, teachers, and caregivers truly enjoy what they do and the level of care they provide. read more

I can't rave enough about this place. When my work schedule changed, they took on FIVE of my kids at the last minute without fuss. They accommodate my child with Autism wonderfully. They are flexible with our changing needs, and are always willing to help us out at the last minute. The teachers/staff are patient, kind, friendly, hardworking, and so good at what they do! My children love to go there, and have made some wonderful friends. It is such a relief to know that my kids are safe and well cared for while I'm at work. read more

I don't know where the poor review of this business is coming from. The owner is very caring, the staff goes above and the beyond, the kids always seem happy when I am there. I know that at least one of the staff is a grandmother who is there because she loves kids, the playground is full of play structures, and I could go on. I have three boys and don't worry a single minute leaving them in the care of the Discoveries staff. read more

My children have attended Discoveries since my oldest was in first grade, she is a freshman in high school now, and her sister currently attends, and next year my youngest will also be enrolled. The caregivers here truly care about the children and constantly find ways to make learning enjoyable. They are truly a family oriented school. I have known Janet for years and she is such a sweetheart with a heart of gold. She loves the kids and I have never seen her act in the manner that was discussed in a previous review. Honestly, I have never heard a bad thing about this school and they really do put the children first in everything they do. Field trips, activities, homework help for older kids, games, crafts, etc... the list of how they foster engagement, learning, and imagination with the kids is incredible. I have referred them many times, and will continue to do so. Please check them out, you'll be glad you did! read more
