I have to agree with other reviews, the food here is very authentic, there is no pan-Asian here, it's fully Japanese. The quality is fantastic, the best place I've come across and one I wish I'd found sooner. Yuzu itself is a bit of a hidden gem that's in plain sight, right in the heart of China town. The place is small with a few tables for four, one for six and the rest are stools placed around a counter. The place is also fairly authentic in feel, it could be a little place down a side street in Tokyo. It could fit maybe 20 people or so and it can get very busy and loud if the other customers decide to shout a coversation at each other lol
The lunch menu is fairly priced between £5.95 and £7.95 and is limited to only a few dishes, the whole menu is limited but this isn't really a bad thing, as I mentioned this place focuses on quality, so you are assured that whatever you choose will not only be fresh (perhaps organic), but cooked beautifully too. I recently had the teriyaki salmon with miso soup and it was fantastic. Be aware that this place does close after lunch, last orders are usually at 2pm and they close the doors to new customers at this time. They open again in the evening.
They have a wide and varied selection of sake, from fairly priced to eye popping.
Now, on to why I can't give this place 5 stars. On my latest visit, there was only one staff member serving all the customers, poor lass was run off her feet. We were going to order ice cream after our meal but gave up after a 20 min wait to catch her eye. The second reason is the music, loud jazz, I can't think of anything worse than eating while it sounds like someone is banging on a piano drunkenly while someone else tries to play the drums with their butt, at full volume. Music change or volume lowered please. read more
