Osechi One in Sale is the only sushi place that delivers to where I live so I was eager to try it out. And I'm sorry to say that the food didn't live up to their raving reviews on Facebook. We ordered via Just Eat and was warned that good sushi takes time to prepare and I didn't mind. We ordered a set of 20-piece sushi platter, a Tataki Beef Bento (a mildly spicy beef on rice served with two chicken gyozas and 2 cucumber inside out maki rolls) and a portion of agedashi tofu. Delivery took less than an hour from a 7pm order on a Friday night so this was good!
Now the food, the sushi platter was underwhelming. We were expecting more exciting rolls in the platter. There was way too much rice to fish ratio. None of the rice used was seasoned either so they didn't bring out the freshness of the fish. The maki rolls were made with some weird tuna/salmon tempura that tasted bland. The nigiri again had tasteless rice. The best bit was the beef which was nicely seasoned in a really tasty sauce. The chicken gyozas were also nice. Unfortunately, this is yet another place that doesn't know how to make agedashi tofu. The batter was right, the tofu was the wrong type and the sauce was NOT agedashi but some sticky sweet soy.
Seriously disappointed with this "Japanese" restaurant. Think I'll stick to eating out or picking up some from Nudo Sushi Box instead! read more
