First off they carry the Lamp Berger products (lamps/fragrance holders). These are a French based company going back to the early 1900s and so lovely to look at it! I saw quite a few places selling them in Paris and I just loved to look at the pretty bottles so I was happy to discover I could buy one here! So many designs from the streamlined to the blingy. Think of large perfume bottle type of shapes. They are expensive but I heard the liquid you buy lasts quite a long time. They had 3 liquid bottles for $20 which I think is a great deal considering most of the lamps are about $50-$100 here depending on the size/design but it's a functional as well as decorative piece. There are the typical Yankee Company candles sold here as well as some really unique candle holders. The owner is really friendly and she has a lot of knowledge about the products sold.

Highly recommended for the consumer that loves to support local businesses, but also for the refined shopper that needs to find the "special touch" to make their living room, dining room, or bedroom "pop" with style and flair.

We got our drinks (included in the candle making class), while waiting for others to show up for the session. Once in the room, we were instructed by our candle teacher how to mix notes and scents together, it was super fun; especially for my two girls and surprisingly for mr. Tran too. It was a nice activity and the instructor shared some basic candle knowledge with us. Sadly, it's not as hands on as I thought. You first smell the scents on the pre-set sticks, pick three, glue the wick on, mix three pre-measured scent bottles into the pre-poured hot wax, mix, pour into candle jar and wait. I could probably have done this is in 15 min. Majority of the class is the instructor describing the scents, explaining the different notes, teaching how to burn candles, selling things to add on, etc. We then spent another 20-30 min just waiting for the candle to set. I have been to other candle, soap, perfume making classes that were more hands-on. So maybe this felt very beginner. My candle also set funny (sunk in) and I think the wax they provided was clumpy. I did a diy candle making kit at home and it set so nicely so not sure what happened here. I did their glowness lab which is a little more expensive because it "incorporate essential oils, colour therapy and the healing power of crystals". The color therapy meant different color jars to pick from and the crystals were an additional $10 to purchase. With the 50% off it came to $62 for the class. I had fun because it was with a friend but I don't think I would really recommend this or come back. It's borderline worth it for $60, definitely not for $120.

I mean, who doesn't love when things exceed their expectations? This hands-on experience was a blast, and I got to create some amazing bath bombs from scratch with the fabulous team at Yummi Candles. Every detail was spot on: snacks? Check! Drinks? Double check! And let's talk about the genius Yelp swag--a combo snack tray and cup with a boba straw! I mean, who doesn't want to carry snacks and drinks in one hand while crafting? It's a game changer. They even thought of us bag ladies (you know who you are) by providing purse storage for those of us who showed up with oversized bags that could basically double as luggage. Seriously, I needed that extra table space for all the bath bomb magic we were creating! Now, I have to admit, we were so busy mixing and molding that we didn't snap any pictures. But no stress--Yelp had a photographer on hand to capture our fun moments. The timing was perfect, too: 3-4 PM on a Sunday in the beautiful Distillery District. It was just an hour long, leaving us plenty of time to explore the Distillery District, grab a bite and head home to mentally prepare for the workweek ahead. And let's not forget the swag bag we received at the end, packed with more Yelp goodies and a sweet 10% discount on Yummi Candles products which I used that same day. Their store doesn't just carry candles; they also have reed diffusers, incense, and other delightful fragrance-related gifts. I couldn't resist and picked up a reed diffuser! Honestly, it was the best way to spend a Sunday afternoon! I'm already eyeing their candle-making workshops as my next adventure. Can't wait to go back!

I recently attended one of their candle-making workshops as part of a team activity for work and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The instructor was easy to follow, and had a good balance between giving detailed instructions and letting us work independently. She kept the pace steady, without boring us, and was good at keeping everyone engaged. For the workshop, we made two full-sized candles (10 oz jars) and six votives (2 oz jars). All the necessary tools and equipment were provided, including aprons, gloves, and even paper and pencils for notes. There was an impressive variety of scents to choose from, as well as colored jars for the votives, which made it feel very customizable and creative. The workshop costs $90 per person, but if you book from Monday to Thursday, you get 25% off and a free DIY kit to take home. I chose the soap-making kit, which was a lovely bonus. I highly recommend checking them out!

It looks like the new location will be a little bit larger in size which will be nice since the current one is a little cramped. This Bath & Body Works is set up much like the other ones that you're probably used to. There is generally a tester product that is open for you to sniff. If you have tried any lotions or soaps, they have a sink in-store for you to wash off any excess product. The summer flavours seem to be out these days as there were a lot of tropical (mango, pineapple) and vacation type scents (think beach and Ocean). They also had some fun sanitizer holders that were shaped like flamingos (complete with feathers) and one that was a sea turtle. They also have a deal right now that is $3.50 on all hand soaps and 6 pocket bacs for $10. I definitely got in on both of those deals. As always, the checkout is in the back of the store and my order was packaged neatly in their checkered blue and white paper bag.

If you buy three plants, you get a fourth one for free. Yes, please! This special was to celebrate Chive's 20th anniversary. Wow! Staff were super friendly, welcoming me and being on hand for any questions that I may have. I browsed for quite some time. There was a lot to take in. I checked out the plants. They all looked leafy and healthy. The succulents caught my eye. They were cute and I didn't have any until I picked up four of them. My original thought was to get more air plants. Sadly, this store only had fake ones. I found that to be interesting. I saw a Venus fly trap. I've always wanted one ever since I learned about it in grade two. It was going for $30, which was more than all four plants that I purchased. Maybe next time! This store had cool vases and misters. They were on the pricier side, so I didn't get any. I had the nicest woman at the checkout. She was trying various codes to get me the best deal, which I appreciated. I paid with a debit card. She carefully placed all my plants in a paper bag. She let me know that she'd staple the bag, to make sure that my plants were safe and warm. I appreciated her extra care. I got my receipt texted to me, to save a bit of paper. I thanked her and happily left the store with my new succulents. They are cute and still alive! I am about to repot them because their roots are poking out of their respective tiny pots. These succulents are a cheerful addition. I parked on a side street. It's one-hour of free parking. I ended up parked for nearly three hours. My car was still there and I did not get a parking ticket. Otherwise, if you can nab a parking spot along Queen Street West, it's Green P parking. I enjoyed my experience at Chive. I'd return again when I'm in the area. (469)
