My husband and I were unfortunate enough to have the motor in our boat blow up not only once by twice in a two-year period. The first time was due to an oil line that failed and the second time was after the first rebuild due to a faulty piston from the manufacturer at no fault of the shop. The issues occurred during COVID and buying a new motor for the boat wasn't an option due to manufacturing shipping timelines, so we had no choice but to rebuild. We did our research and read many reviews about shops all over in Arizona and California where rebuilds just seem to take a whole lot longer than people expect, which is what we had wanted to avoid with a new motor. After much consideration, we chose Yuma Marine to do the repairs. My dad, who was an avid boater, had a ton of trust in Erin working with him for years before he passed, and Erin always took good care of him and was even able to help solve issues my dad could not. Our first rebuild was a little frustrating to say the least because it took so much longer than it should have but Yuma Marine absolutely made up for it. Erin not only was sincerely apologetic but discounted us significantly due to the delays. When the piston failed and the motor blew the second time, we were all devastated and in absolute shock. Erin and his shop went above and beyond to not only find the issue within a day and complete the repairs very quickly, but he even used some of his own parts that he bought and had built for his boat to get our family back on the water as quickly as possible. We have now had our boat back for almost 2 years and she is running the best she ever has, and we could not be happier and have nothing but good things to say about Erin and Yuma Marine. If I could give more stars I would! Erin has gone above and beyond any ethical obligation to a customer. I called him out of the blue from Texas, asking if he could help me with a pre-purchase inspection of a boat. He helped me by sharing with me the things to look for before he even committed to doing any work for me. He coordinated receiving the boat, making small repairs (largely to help with transport and merely oil and a new water impeller as the date of the last change was unknown and it's an older engine), and being the steward of the boat between purchase and transport. He has been: (1) responsive...calling me with every step and texting me pictures of the work....which I never even asked for; (2) honest and fair...sharing invoices of all work done, parts costs, and never trying to sell me anything, but allowed me to make choices for options; (3) clean...he has the boat in tip-top shape after the work done; (4) thorough...he has provided way more information than I even knew I needed, labelled multiple-sized plugs to match up, and coordinated third-party suppliers with items requested; (5) prompt...handling work within days and within my timeline for transport; and, last but not least, (6) skilled/knowledgeable...he provided us with task lists and protected our boat for transport out of state. The employees at Yuma Marine and Erin saved us a great deal of time and money with his acts of going above and beyond in every area. We are thrilled we called on Erin. Our boat was dropped off May, 2024 for a new Honda outboard motor purchased and paid in full. During the next few months, we discovered the boat was still sitting outside the fence in the same place we dropped it. Another month and we were told, "Don't call us, we'll call you when it is done! Season now over, we hear nothing. We finally get Aaron on the phone and he tells us he's replacing the transom (free of charge)! Picking the boat up now May, 2025, they did install a motor. Whether or not it's NEW is questionable. It just looked already used. Grease in spots only used motors build up. The dashboard was loose and it was a shotty job for the price they charged. As for the "new transom"...NO, ITS AN ALUMINUM PLATE for the bargain price of an additional $5,000 more! The boat was a dirty mess with the shift and steering cables hanging loosely inside. WARNING! STAY AWAY! BIGGEST MISTAKE GOING HERE! HORRIBLE WORK ETHIC On June 30th 2021, we gave a deposit to this company to build us a new engine for our boat. Long story short, the owner Erin lies and always makes promises after promises ensuring he's almost done. We kept telling him we are done and that we want our boat back. He kept saying he will make it right and we will have our boat with a new engine. He even told my children he would have it done so they could enjoy the summer. So our mistake was believing him and giving him the chance to finish. So, months turned into a year of waiting for him. We finally got our new boat engine July 2, 2022 and also paid him the balance owed. Took it out to the river and guess what??!!! The engine just died. Wouldn't even run. Sent the boat back to Erin and he said he fixed the problem and so we took it back on the water but it still didn't have any power. Couldn't even get it on plane. After several failed attempts to fix the problem; we told him we were done and we just wanted a refund and we will take it somewhere else. He begged us to let him make it right. At this point the summer was shot so we said ok fine we want a good, running engine that we paid him for. He told us he would have a new engine in 8 weeks. Yeah.... well we should have never trusted him or believed one word he said because we still didn't have an engine. After many conversations, Erin agreed he would refund us what we paid. We waited months and months for the refund and he kept pushing us off and promising us he would pay. We had no other choice but to sue. He finally paid the judgement March 2024. We were going to scrap the non-working engine but he wanted it back and said he had a customer that needed an engine! . Poor sucker who gets that engine! (Another engine builder wouldn't even touch it after looking at it) This whole ordeal took a little under 3 years which is outrageous! We haven't had a boat since our money was tied into it already. I am way overdo yelping this place....These guys are THEE BEST! Our engine blew last Easter on our 98 260 mercury o/b. Aaron went ABOVE AND BEYOND repairing it. It's running better than when we bought it 12 years ago. These guys came all the way out to fishers and picked our boat up. When we returned it for it s break- in check up we had them do some much needed repairs on our trailer and they again returned our boat back to our place at fishers. Great help to us as we live in San Diego. We just had the shop do a preseason check on our boat this year and as usual Aaron and Ramsey went above and beyond. Great guys . Yuma Marine was awesome. My dad and I called from Mexico because we couldn't find an impeller locally. Aaron told us he had the impeller and housing available. When we arrived, he quickly explained to us that we not only had to change out the impeller/housing but that we needed to flush out the bad impeller that had broken up into little pieces and made their way into the hose that cools the engine, inevitably saving us more time and money. He had already old me he had not began any work so I hauled over there and he had 4 people tearing my boat apart and they would not stop. I had to call the Yuma police to get them to stop. When all said and done my outdrive was in pieces and motor mounts were removed. Just like the other guy I had to pay him 2 hours labor to take my boat home in pieces. He went on to say that he did something to my boat and it would not make it a half mile down river, sabotage. We were driving from San Diego to Martinez on a Thursday afternoon and along the way we felt this hardcore grinding from the trailer. I called Yuma Marine to see if I could swing by. They were double booked but they said bring it by. Turns out the rotor and pads were in shreds because of a stuck caliper. I have a unique trailer so no one in town had the parts. Erin contacted the rep for the company who makes the parts in San Marcos, CA and had the parts next day aired in. I launched my boat, dropped my trailer off and picked it up the next day! Zero stars. Worst customer service i have ever encountered. The owner told me i HAD to pick my boat up on thursday so plans were made. On friday the boat was still not done and when i expressed my displeasure, i was told that i was the problem and that he was tired of people demanding things be done. He went on to say that i was wasting his time and that if i wanted my boat fixed i could take it somewhere else. To his credit, after sending someone ekse to talk to me, he half a$&ed apologized, lied about why it was not done and told me he would do it that evening and i could pick it up on sat morning. On sat morning he advised that there was a bigger problem and that he would call me on monday. On tuesday, i picked up m Boat with the lower end in pieces and took it to a real boat shop. Did i mention that he charged me $85 dollars for this fine service? The owner of yuma marine is a thief and a liar, he should have paid me boat rental. His word is no good and he should sell his company to someone that knows how to run a business. In the past we have taken our boat close to San Diego where we live and the prices are rediculous! When we were in a pickle Aaron saved our butts on atleast 5 different occasions! We have received nothing but great service from Yuma marine and I highly recommend them! Just this weekend we had to take our boat to Aaron because our starter went out! This place is a joke!!!!!! The owner of the shop is knowledgeable about boats but that is about as far as it goes. Everyone else who works there are missing a brain cell or two. When I called to talk to someone about my boat, the guy told me only the owner could answer my question but he did not return phone calls (that is a quote, "owner doesn't return phone calls"). Interesting way to keep business. They had my boat for 2 weeks and never touched it. Everytime I called they had a different excuse on why, and kept telling me they would look at it that day. Recently, while pulling my 20ft boat from El Centro, California to Northern Arizona, I experienced a broken axle spindle and was DOA at the sand dunes in the middle of the desert. Hot, hot, hot...Not good. After arranging a flat bed tow to Yuma I just happened to have a receipt in the boat from Yuma Marine by the previous owner so we took the boat there. I had never been there before. We pulled in close to closing time and Aaron and his mechanic were wrapping up and getting ready to close up. They looked over my trailer and said it's fixable but I may have to overnight in Yuma. Again, not good. Well they dropped what they were doing and pulled my boat in right then, assessed the damages, sent a guy out for parts then pulled and rebuilt my axle (welding and all) all before quitting time! I was back at 70 mph with absolutely zero issues. Aaron and his mechanic did a great job for me and when I re-power this year to a new four stroke Yamaha I will haul to Yuma (a seven hour drive) and have The guys at YM do the job. Confidence in work well done by knowledgeable people mean a lot to me and they did me right. I certainly appreciate the way they stopped what they were doing and took me in when they could have just said "Mañana Dude" like surely anyone else would have. Good guys, good work. read more

The owner lies and does not care one bit about his customers. He will say he will have your boat fixed by a certain time but lies. After two weeks he never even touched our boat. I have been bringing my boat there for several years to get repairs and services and every time they have been nothing less then perfect. My services are completed by the time promised and done right. Aaron, the owner, is a good guy and is ALWAYS there! (I always end up having some special circumstance that he finds a way to accommodate) Jason and the other techs he has haven't ever left anything over looked and let me know if there is anything needing further attention. I come from out of town and my time is valuable so its always understood when I bring my boat in that they are to maintain it with an "open checkbook" policy and they have NEVER taken advantage of that.
