I thought the setting of the restaurant was cute. It was very small. The small thing that threw me off was where the bathroom paper towel was located.. (if and when you visit, you'll see what I mean) There wasn't a lot of options for BBQ, which I assumed that's what they're known for.. FOOD: I ordered the BBQ plate and my friends ordered the Yum Yum Chicken (Whole) and Beef Noodle Soup. I really liked the soup! Nothing too special about it but it was good. The chicken was really saucy and filling. Fyi, the size of the chicken wings/drums is big (I totes forgot to take a picture of how massive these chicken are. my bad, y'all)! And I thought the dishes that were included in the BBQ plate was just average. The only thing I enjoyed eating is the Shallot Chicken. It was a tad bit spicy but very good! But overall, I felt like the food could be better in a way, but it was good. I would recommend this place if you're looking for something filling. Eh. There definitely wasn't enough options. I didn't really see the BBQ part of this restaurant. It's small and kind of cramp. The decor and aesthetics of the place make me feel like a little kid. I wasn't okay with the paper towels being outside of the bathrooms (yuck). They're apparently know for their yum yum chicken, which was okay. It was $25 for 12 pieces but they're huge. What happened? This used to be one of the best KFC places in town. This time the fries were limp, the chicken was overcooked, almost burnt, dry and the kitchen looked like a disaster. Out of all the Yum Yum"s in Calgary, this one has the nicest interior. Unlike the other two, they have someone who takes your order. I like the food here, it always comes out hot and tasty. The one downside to eating here, is it takes a long time to get your food. If you're in a hurry, then I would suggest eating elsewhere. If you wany some tasty deep fried chicken with a mixture of some Korean food then you might want to check this place out. read more

I went there with a co-worker for lunch for our first visit at Yum Yum BBQ. They haven't done much advertising. The only reason we knew of its existence was from a previous visit to another restaurant at the mall. I have been craving Korean BBQ chicken and immediately thought of coming to this place. I ordered a 2-piece Chicken Meal which includes small fries and a can of soft drink. The portion was food and was the perfect size lunch meal for me. I had the shallot chicken and they were yummy. Something to be aware of is that there is still mildly spicy taste, which I think is in the batter... so it doesn't really matter which flavour (Yum Yum, Shallot, Spicy, Regular Fried) you order, it will be at least slightly spicy... something to be aware of if you have young kids. The service received by the waitress was great. The interior of restaurant is well thought out and decorated nicely. I will be back but next time I will order just the fried chicken without the fries so I can eat an extra piece of chicken! read more

This is one of the spots I visit for that delicious, tasty, and juicy chicken crave. The seats here are pretty comfy, but can feel cramped due its size, and it can get very busy, but when it's busy expect the service to be a little slow. I always order their yum yum chicken in special sauce, and a pork bulgogi poutine with a side of rice bowl while watching korean and american music videos. Get those hands dirty on those chicken because it's worth it. The chicken was moist, yummy batter soaked in yum yum special sauce providing a balance of sweet, spicy, and a hint of tang. The poutine was also amazing and you may request to make it extra spicy. A great infusion of canadian/korean dish. I highly recommend this place~! read more

I arrived at the NE location at 9:10 pm Satuday August 13th 2022, as I was walking up the girl at the front turn off the open sign, so I knocked and said "it says you are open on your website until 9:30 and I understand I'm a cutting it close, but may I get a whole chicken?" She said no we close kitchen at 9:15 and I replied "so why don't you say that on your website?" There was some meaningless back and forth were I pleaded for them to honor the time and her refusing and the boy friend came to the door and started tell the same story, I said "ok I heard your food was good, but you've lost a customer" and he replied "we dont need your customer" then mockingly said bye bye, bye bye"... so I hear the food is great, but the personal interactions and customer service is poop. read more

I want to rate it 3.5 Hmm let's see... The serving is decent. I got the BBQ beef combo. The beef was good, rice was soft, the dumplings were not good it tasted like oil with consistency. I'm not impressed with the salad that came with it. Any salad that only has iceberg lettuce is a useless salad. I couldn't taste the chicken because the beef overpowered the taste. But the consistency was nice and it wasn't overcooked. The chicken is awkwardly cut though, there was a piece that I had no clue what part of the chicken it was. The service is good. The server is nice and sweet, there was a customer who was asking freaky weird questions about the waitress though. I was impressed how nice she was regardless of the creepy factor. Overall it's a mediocre fast food restaurant. For the 14 bucks I spent I would rather go across the street to insadong and feast in all you can eat buffet for 25 bucks. read more

You can't get it this restaurant front within the Pacific Place - you have to enter from the outside. Once you are inside, there is the unmistakeable strains of K-Pop blaring from the TV combined with friendly and helpful servers wearing what looks to be a pseudo military uniform complete with a badge of the South Korean flag. Ordering is fast but the cooking is not, it took quite some time for the chicken to arrive every time I was there, but it was worth the wait! Finally, me and my sister got the chance to try out yum yum chicken, well its because of Colin. Thank you Colin. We ordered # 11 which is beef, rice, 3 PCs of small dumplings, and 2 yum yum chicken, came with a can of pop, I think it was around $14(round up). Let's start with the ambiance, its a small very comfortable place. The chairs are comfy. Nice decors. Now, the service....great service. She asked us if its dine in or take out, with menus ready got us seated and came around at a great reasonable time to take our orders. Order came, she did give our food without the chicken yet and explained why which is fine. She was very very friendly for a Korean fast food and her English is really good. Now with the food, its OK... My sis is right the portion size is alright. The chicken came in no time, according to them they cook the chicken with canola oil. If I were to order again, I would order yum yum chicken. Its crispy very very crispy. There's a little spice in it which is a good touch I love it hence the 4 stars. I ordered half chicken to go it was around $12 which is almost normal price. I went to the mall for 2 hrs. Came home and had 1, holy it was still crispy. Crispy! Crispy still! Holy cow, I can't believe it. Its not 100% like when it just came out, but I will say 80% which is still awesome for a fried chicken. We were told that since our group was so big that we needed to order more, 14 in total 7 of which were children. The server said that since they have plates they don't count as children... wtf!?! At that point we were already upset from the other ridiculous request, which we had to order quickly since the kitchen was about to close, it was 7:40pm and they close at 9. We decided to eat somewhere else so we left. I do understand that they are probably tired and was closing early who wouldn't be but it's a business. I also understand what they were trying to say that buying the family bundle which is 50.99 between three families is absurd of course I totally agree but the fact that they couldn't wait for us to finish ordering more food was down right rude, they felt like they had to state it. Oh, how I love KFC (aka Korean Fried Chicken). The city of Calgary offers a couple KFC spots and Yum Yum is one of the better options (slightly better than Olive chicken but a lot better than Ogam and Wow chicken). The batter is light and crispy and the chicken pieces are nice and tender. This is a perfect snack when paired with a bottle of beer. I have not tried the other food options here, so I can't comment on it. Over the past 2 years, the prices have gone up, while the chicken pieces got smaller - but these portions are a good thing for people who have little self control when eating fried chicken (ie: me). read more

Honestly my favourite place to get Korean fried chicken and fried chicken in general in Calgary. Located in Marlborough in Pacific Place mall, you will not be disappointed at all with the food here. Though I've only ordered takeout of the 3 piece chicken meal, this is some of the best fried chicken you will ever experience, at least in Calgary. The meal regularly comes with 2 pieces of chicken, a side of fries, and a choice of a canned soft drink. However for an extra dollar or so, you can add an extra piece of chicken which is what I usually do. There is a wide variety of chicken flavours to choose from, I usually get the spicy fried chicken. The meal came out to be about $10. The chicken has a nice and crispy outer skin with a nice, tender and juicy chicken meat without being overly greasy. The fries are just about what you'd expect. My only complaint being that the fries are a little small, but the seasoning of the fries totally makes up for that. The seasoning adds a bit of sweetness to the fries, which may turn people away from it, but I personally love it. This meal is an amazing value of only $10. One really close and easy place to get to whenever I'm hungry and in the mood for fried chicken haha, nice modern looking place with a laid back sense. Quite small but it's cozy, nice place for a date, not so much for a large group. The service was a bit slow when I ordered the chicken, but the fries and poutine came out quite fast. The chicken I had was yum yum chicken and the shallot chicken. They breaded the chicken quite nicely and the chicken was nice and juicy on the inside, crispy and golden brown on the outside just the way I like it. Comparing this to kfc, I would pick this place over it. Great chicken. Nice filling meal. It's a nice place to introduce your friends who never really stepped out of their own comfort food zone to learn and have something that is within their realm of typical food but a little more exotic you feel? This is the worst customer service I have ever had. The manager is an idiot and they have no idea what they are doing. I phoned in a complaint as my order was not acceptable for what I paid ($15.00 for 6 little pieces of boneless chicken and 2 pieces . had no chicken) I called spoke to Glen (supposed to be manager???) and he advised to give my name and number and next time I will get free meal to replace mine. I offered to come and bring my food back and he said it would be fine. 3 days later I call to get my food and place 2 other orders as well and after going back and forth for 15 min. they say yes I can come pick up in 20 min. 15 min later get another call from these morons and they say no sorry will replace 2 pieces of the 6 pieces I paid for. I speak to "Glen" again and am told yes I will get my meal replaced only to go to pick up the order now 45 minutes later and when I get there I am told "Im sorry but I can only give you 3 pieces" WTF are these guys a joke. You wait until I now come down and then tell me you aren't giving me my meal.
