I noticed not that many times to choose from going to Davis from Sacramento. We missed the 2 pm. We had to wait almost an hour and half until the next one. We bought our tickets then realized no one told us where we actually get onto the train. Our friend went back in..at the ticket booth the man that helped us was very nice and very helpful. He gave the kids coloring books and pins. Finally on the train it was bumper then I remembered, moved around a lot reminded me being on boat. Can not have bags or luggage out on tables or seats. I think we got called out, but we weren't sure since it was over the load speaker. We had a small bag it had food and snacks in it. We put into the over head. We went to check out the food car. So the kids could feel what it was like to walk from car to car..the food car was mostly over priced snacks. Canned, bottled drinks and packs of chips or nuts. When we arrived in Davis. They said over the loud speaker they do not stop for to long you need to get off so get ready. We couldn't open the over head to get our bag back out. It was stuck. Other passengers helped us open it, they said you really need to pull it hard. Once off the train the Davis train station and building looked so old and run down..so sad looking compared to Sacramento station. We didn't know no one would be there to buy return tickets. But they do offer more times leaving back to Sacramento. We purchased online. We had many people asking if they were in the right place while we were waiting. Davis such a cute town seems like they would clean up the station areas.

The biggest downside to this station in my opinion is the parking. The lot is almost always completely full and the last time I was here people were double parked and circling looking for spaces. There is extended parking if you drive all the way to the rear and ultimately I was able to find a spot to park in and wait. However, it's far too clustered and distant from the station to be very usable. I typically recommend taking the train because even though it's an expensive option, you are able to get work done and maybe even relax on the trip. Besides, with gast prices like they are now, the ticket prices don't seem quite so outrageous. Otherwise the station does what it's supposed to do. It's not the worst and definitely not the best but it could be a lot better if they would do something about the parking capacity.

The handicapped stall was out of TP. The line for the one open toilet was long. When I asked the only employee why the other stalls were locked, the response I received was, and I quote "yea I know, we keep it that way, there are two stalls you call use" when I mentioned that the handicapped stall had no toilet paper, all she said was "yea, I know were out, you can walk 2 blocks to the McDonald's if you need to use the bathroom" while in her phone. I can't believe that a bus terminal has no toilet paper for the number of people coming through this place throughout the day, there are at least 75 people right now, with more than half being women and children. Completely unacceptable, the lack of professionalism and unwillingness to help was just very disappointing. If you plan to take the Greyhound and Sacramento is one of your stops, I recommend brining your own toilet paper. Aside from that, it's spacious with several tables and benches to sit and wait. Vending machines are available with snacks and water. There is a "restaurant" however, it's closed and doesn't look like it offers much. If you are here for a while at least there is a McDonald's 2 blocks away.

I've tried parking at a lot near my work that I already pay for and get in and out access, but I also wanted to find another alternative. That lead me to Yolobus and their Y shuttle. Being a West Sac resident, I found out that they offer free shuttles that take you to and back from downtown during major events at the Golden 1 Center. They consider major events when the event draws a crowd of 10,000 or more. We can park our car for FREE near the West Sac Transit Center (where the Sacramento City College West Sac satellite campus is) and that's where the bus will pick you up. For a 7:30 tip off game, the first shuttle came at 6 p.m., and they run in 15 minute intervals. The bus dropped us off at 7th and Capitol where they also picked us back up after the game to take us back to our car. The total ride to and from spanned no more than 15 minutes. After the game, they start back the shuttles 5 minutes after the game ends and also comes in 15 minute intervals for an hour after the game. We took the first bus back and it was packed. And a thing to note was that it came MORE than 5 minutes after the game had ended, hence the packed bus. One of the many perks of taking this bus is that while the Capitol Mall streets were blocked during Kings games and other big events at the G1C, Sac PD allowed the Yolobus to pass through the closed street. I guess they worked out some deal with some folks way above my pay scale, which allows them to do that during these events. Totally felt like a VIP being in a ride where the cops moved barricades so your ride can get through! Now that I've discovered and experimented with this option in getting to the arena, I will now be using it more. For more information, I highly recommend checking out their page: http://www.yolobus.com/y/
